  • Probably the best battle of the 2004 season between two future world champions. If you are wondering why Button was holding his helmet, the strap under his helmet was a bit loose which caused the helmet to lift up slightly on straights and the strap was making Button hard to breathe.

Jenson had a loose helmet all through this race and still finished second. He was always very strong around Hockenheim. He was unlucky not win a race that year.

Had a faster car than Kimi did and was nowhere near him frankly in this race.

@@ciaronsmith4995 Well yes Kimi was unnaturally brilliant in the early 2000s. As a fan of both, I find it difficult to judge one against the other (although it’s absolutely true that Kimi was a better driver than Jenson)

They really were just the perfect size, unbelievably intimidating in both looks and sound, and don’t get me started on the low, wide rear wing. That’s what an F1 car should look like

@@dylanracho3536how not good for racing? This is recognition of formula the V10 sound 😂😂😂 they use it still
These were the best F1 cars ever existed light small powerful fastest cars on straights 365+ 370+ kph on monza
Tires were limiting these cars on corners still thier lap times were faster and similar to 2020 cars during races
V8 slowed the cars by a lot and 2006-2013 was best era in F1 but slow cars great sound still

    I don't think much happened.
The first half of 2004 was the anomaly, not the other way around. And there was a very specific reason he was much better in 2004 than in 2003.
Trulli really excelled at the new one lap qualifying format of 2004. His race pace was still considerably worse than Alonsos. Alonso started 19th in Malysia, 17th in Bahrain and 8th in Spain compared to Alonsos 4th.
In all of these races Alonso had far better race pace.
His good qualifying has put him in positions he usually would've not been in. Monaco is the best example. Yes he won, but Button, Schumacher and Alonso were all faster than him in the race itself.
It is also well documented that Briatore and Trullis relationship was pretty tarnished after the French GP, where he was easily passed by Barichello for the podium in the last corner. Briatore felt Trulli had an attitude problem. Maybe he lost all motivation in the second half? It's pure speculation at this point.

Alonso's weakest track. Always was in the tyre war. He admitted it himself. He took wrong lines around there and Fisichella was leagues faster in 2006.

I was under the impression that it was one of his best, he won there 3 times. Never won at Spa though for example.

Beaten by Trulli in 2003, underperformed in 2004, got lucky in 2005 and outpaced by Fisichella in the 2006 race too.
