The entire album is a masterpiece detailing the loss of a beloved child (this is confirmed). Every ounce of this album is pure perfection, enveloping you with powerful emotions.
And WHY AGAIN is this band so damn underrated? They have so much variety, from electronic, to eerie-sounding, to rock; honestly the nostalgia of it all. Glad I grew up listening to this, never actually realized how sad this album was though until I got a bit older and looked into the lyrics.
I'm going to meet you I'm going to meet you I'm going to meet you I'm going to meet you I'm going to meet you I'm going to meet you I'm going to meet you I'm going to meet you I'm going to meet you I'm going to meet you I'm going to meet you I'm going to meet you I'm going to meet you Voices are child in sound fades away For silence is walking Signs of you will leave What will happen and now the same as you 'Til the end of someone's world And the cradle says goodbye to yesterday Painfully, I prepare a release And poison takes me away Poison takes me away, takes me away Listen, don't cry my child When you awake My father's table has set a place for you Contact, with fire full love As you're to know my days A season of poison will bring the darkness soon Painfully, I prepare a release And poison takes me away Poison takes me away On angel's wings, you learn to fly On angel's wings, you learn to fly From this world you left below I'm going to meet you I've come to take you home Mommy, mommy, mommy From this world you left below I'm going to meet you I've come to take you home From this world you left below I'm going to meet you I've come to take you home Painfully, I prepare a release And poison takes me away Poison takes me away On angel's wings, you learn to fly On angel's wings, you learn to fly
So if we sense or feel or believe that we understand anything in response to the sounds we hear, that’s because, over the span of our lives, we have first inherited - and then refined - a complex reflexive hierarchy of connections and significances that we are powerless to resist.3 So, before we even know about knowing, we’re already locked into an architecture of signification through which all our subsequent perceptions will be filtered. And as machines for seeking meanings, we can’t help but classify and interpret all the sensory data we receive. Our survival depends on it. So, of course, sounds trigger meanings and there’s nothing we can do to prevent that. Some will be consensual and statistical - the social meanings we’ve absorbed empirically from our natural and cultural environment, meanings that pre-exist us and which nobody alone has created and nobody alone can control. Then there are personal meanings, meanings that exist only in individual minds and that express unique accumulations of personal experience. To think or communicate we have always to negotiate between these personal and social understandings, both subjectively - that is to say, in our own heads - and objectively, through our transactions with one another. We know that no message sent will be understood exactly as its sender intended, and no message received will match exactly the message sent.
While I still say We Are Pilots is better, I really like the direction the album takes right here. This song is AMAZING, and everything else after it is, too.
@mary11am I get the same feeling! This song gives me some strange feeling... I don't know, I think it's a memory.. it inspires my writing (in fact I feel like basing a plot off the meaning of this song) and it just makes me feel good. :D

Who did lost their child? Ive been following the band for ages and I just noticed this :(
This song made every acid trip worth it.
Love the apocalyptic sound of this...almost has an 80s feel to it.
Great sing from this band!
my purge playlist contains this song.
I'm going to meet you
I'm going to meet you
I'm going to meet you
I'm going to meet you
I'm going to meet you
I'm going to meet you
I'm going to meet you
I'm going to meet you
I'm going to meet you
I'm going to meet you
I'm going to meet you
I'm going to meet you
I'm going to meet you
Voices are child in sound fades away
For silence is walking
Signs of you will leave
What will happen and now the same as you
'Til the end of someone's world
And the cradle says goodbye to yesterday
Painfully, I prepare a release
And poison takes me away
Poison takes me away, takes me away
Listen, don't cry my child
When you awake
My father's table has set a place for you
Contact, with fire full love
As you're to know my days
A season of poison will bring the darkness soon
Painfully, I prepare a release
And poison takes me away
Poison takes me away
On angel's wings, you learn to fly
On angel's wings, you learn to fly
From this world you left below
I'm going to meet you
I've come to take you home
Mommy, mommy, mommy
From this world you left below
I'm going to meet you
I've come to take you home
From this world you left below
I'm going to meet you
I've come to take you home
Painfully, I prepare a release
And poison takes me away
Poison takes me away
On angel's wings, you learn to fly
On angel's wings, you learn to fly
"Season of Love" is followed by "Poison" on this album.... such a beautiful and honest perspective. #callitlifetoday
