Eric when he checkmates: ~sips tea~
Eric when he stalemates: "YEAARHG LET'S GOOO!!!!"
That’s just Eric
Stalemating a losing game really is more satisfying than most wins imo
@@Logic-ys7rw agreed
@@Logic-ys7rw True story
This kind of enthusiasm for making a stalemate from a losing position is exactly why Rosen has become so good at obtaining draws. I may be biased, but I've heard a lot of GMs mention Eric as being one of the best at stalemate tactics and it's precisely because he's a motivated student.
Was expecting calm Eric getting stalemated, i got Eric destroyer of green screens. never been happier.
Green screen gambit
Hahahah wasn't expecting that epithet
That shiny forehead too
That was the happiest I've ever seen Rosen
well deserved top comment
The guy who made 4 queens quit chess that day
lolllll
He just had to move his king up lmao
@@OshaTroy or slide a queen to the a file lmao
i am still unable to control my laughter on that one.my man just got destroyed
And he had time, and was an IM 😅
anyone realized that he's more happier when getting stalemated than checkmate
Mm yes, more happier
Uh because checkmates are really one sided and stalemates are usually when you are in a losing position, it makes sense dude
Exactly, stalemate is bringing a loss to a draw, but a checkmate is just converting a position you were already winning
@@randynguyen997 you say that as if he doesnt know that. Its an observation that is fun. Unlike you, mr Einstein sir
JeManGerrit then why is he putting this comment out also, stop aiming for me. I'm not the only one saying that. Also, Einstein is dead so it's not even a sarcastic compliment from you. You're calling me dead, not smart. Doesn't matter if you didn't intend for it either. You only @ me for some reason. The other people have a lot more likes than me, go for them.
4:35 Eric destroying his green screen for a stalemate and the 10 blunders showing up is the funniest shit ever
he was playing against hikaru after all
yu
Man try to put 0.25x😂
blunders are from premises to save time at the end when he has 2.2 seconds
The only type of situation where Eric shows emotions.
he sounds also very sad when he leaves his queen on prey ^^
Eric is so much happier after a stalemate than a checkmate
Shiiit I would too. If i was down that much material and then I was able to at least draw
What’s more exciting almost driving into a cliff or taken a different road? Exactly
@@17ForLuck um sliding into wrong lane because Asian
@@17ForLuck taken a different road
Escaping an inevitable death is more satisfying that executing the convicted
beautiful response to the most common comments on the vud
“Escaping an inevitable death” If a death is inevitable, then that literally means death is unescapable, therefore what u said is a paradox and doesnt make a whole lot of sense??
@@Wick291 stale mate is still a death but only the peaceful way
Checkmate is the pain and misery ending
Well said
@@Glooooooooed well then you're not escaping it
4:34 never seen Eric so energetic
Maybe it is because he drew against gm hikaru
How he have 10 blunders and 4 mistakes
@@alberteinstien4322 bullet match i guess
@@alberteinstien4322 he kind of intentionally blunders in the end to set up the trap, but obv it was bullet so mistakes/blunders even happen at the highest level
energEric
The Rosen Gambit, where you sacrifice all your pieces to go for the Rosen stalemate
3:13 His voice made my heart melt away.
Yeah lol it's almost as if he would say "It's Christmas" 😂🥰
4:52 was calculated so quickly! Such an amazing clip
I know right
He triangulated a stalemate what a legend
Yeah the fact that he could think so quickly just amazes me. I mean I could never do stuff like this, especially due to the time scramble.
I never noticed before how the rosen trap depends on a slight delay, where he gives his opponent time to premove, but not enough to think and cancel the premove
Once you stop resigning this happens more than you think.
I went up 100 rating points the moment I stopped resigning. Way more people than you'd think at my level (~1500) who I would have resigned to previously either blunder enough material later to make it winning or even, or they botch the endgame. I wish someone had told me way sooner
@@tikkj haven't even seen Ben finegolds videos smh (resigns)
Agree, that’s me
@saty Ro Depends on your goals tbh. If you just want to relax and enjoy a few games of Chess, sure resign away. But if you want to improve your game & climb the ratings faster, you gotta do shit that's unenjoyable.
It depends. I'm 2000 on lichess blitz and people don't resign when they're down a minute and queen. Just makes me want to trash talk after I beat them.
Imagine being the guy who stalemates him with 4 queens and also being a international master
and 30 seconds
It only works once in a while
Stalemet with.4 queens is invetible
Lol
No green screen was harmed in the making of this video
Ty for your service
We are grateful for your service
But checkmates were harmed during making of this video
4:48 The Greatest Stalemate of all Time!
managing to get in that extra king move to time it right with < 2 sec on the clock- amazing!
4:35 Eric breaks the chat
nobody:
the letter i in the pixar's intro: 4:36
"sry green screen"
lmao
The sweet spot where the dirt meets with art
This never gets stale
Nice one mate
*STALEMATE*
Nice one Stale MATE....
This never gets mate
1:56 "Oh thank you" *smiles + soft smirk*
I swear Eric gets more excited over stalemates than checkmates :D
who doesn't?
Outsmarting the criminal, when done, can be more satisfying than just causing their arrest! :)
True lol. Though I'm still impressed how he's still able not go crazy and jump to the moon after stalemating Hikaru XD
This should definitely be the name of the manoeuvre! When your king and queen are in the corner in a lost position, and the opponent takes the queen expecting a recapture while they premove something else. Similar to how the “Lefong” is when you play Bh6 while someone is premoving their fianchetto sequence, so you take the bishop and the rook for free
That's risky, though. Even if they premove g6, you can't rely on them premoving their next move. They might see wBh6.
@@rosiefay7283 of course it’s risky, but people still do it. It can be an effective trap in bullet chess
That's why premoves should be avoided unless absolutely necessary to not lose on time.
Every time I get mad at me accidentally stalemating my opponent, I'm gonna watch the clip of the IM stalemating with four queens.
Just as getting stalemated when you should’ve lost is more exiting than a win, stalemating your opponent when you should’ve won is infinitely more devastating than a loss
The one at 3:52 is beautiful. I always look for a stalemate, seeing you do it kinda made it legal now for me, cause I always felt a bit bad not to resign being 30 points of material down. Thanks!
4:35 Eric's hyper reaction is reasonable, considering the score 😂
Considering it was Hikaru, too.
+6
29.5 vs 1.5
the fact that learning how to get stalemated is much much harder than checkmating just goes to show how good his technical ability is.
4:36
Oh no my green screen
yeaarhg my green screen
my beautiful green screen
That triangulation with the king is absolutely GM level
It looks like there's an escape at 3:43 for white on Kg1, but then Rf1+ forces the rook capture (and draw). Nice!
4:28 "a perfect game of chess always ends in a draw". a wise IM that blundered 10 times
3:09 taking the rook with 0.00 left was incredible.
4:10 dude was trying to troll Eric by making 4 queens. Lol
That guy must've died from depression after playing this game. He drew even after having 4 queens on the board.
I never troll I just checkmate them.
4:34 is so funny lmao.
On top of being funny and entertaining, this is also kind of useful. I now have a method for drawing: get your king into a 'stalemate position' and continuously check the other king. Time to blunder my queen!
Genuinely laughed out loud at 4:35. Thank you for this Eric
Check that stalemate: 1:02
Now check this stalemate Kasparov x Georgiev: www.chessgames.com/perl/chessgame?gid=1258478
I'm really scared how similar the positions are
0:43 is clever. It needs the wK to be on one of just two squares w.r.t. bQ and bB. 4:43 is similar but even more vicious because the promotion is immediate stalemate.
Imagine making 4 Queens and getting stalemated, man I’ll just look at the sky 24 hours straight for that one
Before entering Kero Sewers, Mallow advises that "his grandfather" told him to "watch out for Rosen", although Mallow does not appear to know what Rosen is beyond his name. After exploring the sewers, Mallow enter a large, mostly empty room with Rosen standing in the center. Mallow panics upon realizing the monster before them is Rosen, who then attacks them. After battling and defeating him, he tells the heroes the cryptic message: "If you defeat me, you still won't beat me. Beware the draw!" and stalemates his opponent.
4:35 was my favorite; Oh no, my green screen!
At 4:56 - You must play a waiting move with king before you queen or you can promote pawn to knight and win with 3.5 seconds on the clock with bishop+knight ending
the other guy be like "gah, my win!"
This is my favourite chess content - so so so satisfying
Eric down a ton of material: ha stalemate
Me up a queen and rook: ha stalemate
This is the chess equivalent of a trick shot montage
eric! my friend who used to really love horde because he was so good at it challenged me a while back. when i was horde, i had a pawn on first rank and fourth, and he had 2 rooks, a knight and a queen, and a couple pawns close to promotion. he premoved taking the pawn on the fourth rank, and i knew he would, so i pushed my pawn forward two squares to the 3rd rank, right behind it, and it was STALEMATE! from that day, my friend hasn't played a single game of horde
At 4:29 wasnt that hikaru?
4:36 hahahaha he litteraly jumped out of his chair for that one
It’s always the same kind of stalemate too, his king in the corner with the opponent’s queen a Knight’s move away. Should coin that type of stalemate as the rosen trap 😆
I love how this Queen King position has a name just like how Bongcloud does.
0:10 "ooh, free queen" always gets me
Eric: ah yes the rosen trap lets go!
Opponent: *impaling his desk in*
I see why this works now, they assume you take the queen so they premove something else
NO WAY YOU ARE SO SMART
@@rg5_rl714 bro , its literally the trick , you just understood this NOW?
I love "opponent made 4 queens.... he tried to humiliate me"
4:33 LETS GOOOOO
*The 10 Blunders watching in the background*
4:35 bruhhh
My favourite bit is at 2:35 - he even managed to get an "Oh no my rook!" in.
Glad I caught this early! Love the stalemate traps.
me too ... i love stalemate traps
Eric Rosen is the type of guy that is more happy when he stalemates than winning.
4:35 he broke his chair lol
There is “art of checkmate”. Also, there is this “art of stalemate” by Eric Rosen.
3:43 cant the king go to the left then rook g2 can be met with rxg2, its not stalemate because the pawn can take and after king takes the pawn, the king can go to g7
Rf1+ instead of Rg2+
I think Eric enjoys mostly not loosing instead of simply wining.
1:08 3:16 5:01 Rambling rooks. Beautiful.
We need Eric Rosen + Anish Giri masterclass on how to draw!
The Rosen Trap never stops to amuse me, great compilation! :)
4:35 I’ve never seen Eric get so happy for a stalemate than a checkmate 😂
Opponent: [has 4 queens]
White king: Alright, we'll call it a draw
The day has come when the clips video is longer than the main channel video for the day.
4:36 A trap for Eric...
And THAT my friends is what I call the "Jump and destroy your setup trap"
imagine how much elo he saved using the trap
4:58 your mind is amazing
Rosen is as excited about stalemate as I am about winning.
3:16 rip your opponent. if he walked his king to g1 then he wouldve won, after you would to rook g2 takes with the rook then you can take with the pawn
Rf1+ would force the capture
@@mnm1273 i didnt see that. thanks
4:35 never seen erin so happy in his life
4:44 is actually so good
This is why people who are not GM Hikaru don't premove or else you will premove into a stalemate
Dont mind me, just putting this timestamp for my own purpose :v
4:36
4:34
Best reaction on Stalemate🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
2:32 What is that chess site?? (The one with the 5k POT)
At 4:36 Eric was too excited that he stalemated!!!😄😄
When I first used the Rosen Trap I was so happy to play chess that I read books about it.
he shouted stalemate so loudly he smashed something
Now this is some quality content! Loved it
It's true, sometimes a stalemate feels more amazing then a checkmate.
Thank you Eric Rosen! As Danya says. I got my first Rosen Trap today!
4:33 is probably the happiest I've ever seen him
Respect for the people that saw the stalemate and opped to do a draw by repetition
This is now my fav channel.
Dear Editor,
Plz make Baka mitai of 4 queen stalemate trap.
The editor is Eric himself
Opponent making Queens ....
And
Eric be like.....I m goin to stalemate , this man whole chess career.......
🔥🔥🔥
Yeah let's go
4:40 was the best one
I‘ve never been so satisfied for seeing those stalemates
After playing a game full of bulnders I almost stalemated like the one shown at 1:12 but opponent blundered and let me win. All thanks to Eric Rosen 🔥😎
So many times he full on hangs his rook every move just to force stalemate. Beautiful.
Eric is the only person who was loved despite being dirty lol
The fact that he chooses to either force stalemate or repetition amazes me.
