It is an interesting idea to pick up a 1/10 gold coin every month. I set a goal of getting an oz of gold every year. and managed to get 2 oz this year, Maybe for 2022 I should set a goal of getting a 1/4 of gold every quarter.
For me, it's just cheaper (by premium) to get 1/10 oz gold pieces. For whatever reason, they always seem to be at my LCS, but not the quarter or half ounces. Online, the fractional gold is typically just more expensive than what I can find locally. Always great to diversify the stack!
@@SilverForeverX If i find 1/10 for a low premium I get them. But that is not often. I also find British Gold Sovereigns with low premium occasionally.

I don't know enough about purchasing in the UK to give you very good advice.. You have a 1/8th ozt gold coin? Great small gold coins! I like the Mercury gold “dime”. I would like someday to get that one and the other US Mint gold versions of famous old designs. Congrats!
Thank you, I really enjoyed your video today. I don't have any of those 1/10th ounce gold coins but I do have 20 of the 1/10th ounce Canadian gold mini-bars that are also very beautiful. I am thinking now of getting some of the ones you have if I can find any. Unfortunately there are no local coin shops where I live. I did get an interesting gold coin today though and it is a 1967 half ounce Canadian Centennial gold coin with a fabulous crest on one side and lovely Queenie on the other side... Yes, Queen with a crown, unlike all the newer Canadian coins... Queen without a crown is just wrong...
Just checked out that coin and I really like it! I am very lucky to get good deals on 1/10 at my LCS but I have also found good deals online. Recently on a community post, I shared a deal I found for $190USD shipped! Thanks for your support Dakiniwoman!
I have a fair amount of penny capsules that I cut sections of a ear plug cord to fit the diameter. The diameter of the capsules are just under what a quarter is so they fit perfectly in a guardhouse quarter tube.
Good point. White ring would do the same, but I just really like the black ring! I've done a few video updates on the 1/10 collection since this one-- check it out! Another update coming soon!
I bought 50 of these 1/10 oz britannias, eventually I came to the conclusion that the extra premiums I paid was a poor decision. The 1/10oz is 3.1gram is extremely tiny, whilst a half sovereign has much greater surface area for not alot of extra weight difference and lower premiums. Also the sovereign has a monetary history reflected in different dates and commemorative designs going back hundreds of years. BTW, if you expand security features in physical scale for bigger coins, they would become easier to counterfeit.
Good point about the security features. I only have 1 sovereign right now, but it's a fantastic one--- the 500th anniversary (video: ruclips.net/video/9zJZxFlL6Mc/видео.html) ! I personally love 1/10 oz gold coins, but I definitely consider them collector's items (for me personally) -- I only have a few duplicates here and there. Hopefully you have a found an outlet for some of your tenths where you can recoup some of that extra premium. Do you think you might find someone who would be willing to trade a 1 oz for 9 x 1/10 oz?
@@SilverForeverX I sold/swapped them for desirable 1oz britannia designs within the family, so if I need fractionals I can swapped back for my spare 1oz QBs.
@@SilverForeverX you could short cut to a 1kg ag completer, I bought one because it seemed the RM didn't seem to be bringing out a 10oz. Then they did, some months later. The QBs are represented all on the one big coin. I thought I had achieved my bucket list, then I found out that the RM released a bully version of the1oz gold standard in 2021, if you have that, I could swap ot a 1oz au completer or 4 x au 1/4oz QBs.
I actually just did a video about the 1kg Ag completer last week! I bought one at release, it's one of my favorite pieces. The most fascinating thing about that coin is its face value of 500 GBP--- in a league of its own!
I bought a package of 20 capsules for 1/10 gold size. It also came with a tube to store those capsules. So, of course, I need to fill the tube. I have about 8 more to get. But one of them is a 1/10 oz platinum Britannia. I thought maybe to move up to 1/4 oz once the tube is filled. Don't really like paying these premiums on fractional gold but it is hard to save up for one ounce size without spending the money on the smaller size or silver first. The price of 1/10 oz gold varies wildly among vendors, so people need to shop around.
I'm doing an update video soon, my collection is probably close to the same size as yours (in the capsule tube).. For me, I pay the same premium % if its 1/10 or 1/4 so I have just been sticking at the tenth. There are some interesting advantages at the 1/4 and 1/2 size, but I'm mostly stacking 1 oz and collecting 1/10 oz. I totally agree that people NEED to shop around if buying 1/10. What's your favorite piece?
@@SilverForeverX I have been buying them for a few years have eagles over 30 and other 1/10 oz gold rounds 9 more and i can hold over $6000 in the palm of my hand
Wish I would have been aware of the 1/10 AGE a long time ago.. I would have liked to have accumulated a complete date set. I only started collecting PM at the end of 2018.
Yes, I know. But my OCD will kick in and I'll be compelled to pay more for harder-to-get pieces. I think I am just going to concentrate on getting the best price and forgo the "collection" aspect.
Nice collection! Thank you for the video. Your favourite design is on the Palladium Eagle too. Are the 1/10 eagles thicker than the 1/10 maples? Given the copper, I would assume so. Have a great day.
Hey Petr, nice to hear from you! The Palladium eagle has 2 of my favorite designs, obverse AND reverse! Yes, the 1/10 eagles are _technically_ thicker, but not by much-- 16.5mm diameter and 1.26mm thick, whereas the maples are 16mm diameter and 1.22mm thick. One thing that surprised me is the 3g gold Panda (vs. 3.1g in 1/10 coins) is actually wider at 18mm diameter, but thinner at 1.02mm.

Sometimes people keep their coins loose and I buy them later... Other times they look more scratched than they are because the capsules themselves are scratched
Nice channel, good video, looks like you are going to do well in this space! Way easier to get into silver like you say. Good explanation on premiums. Great 1/10 collection! I use the black ring capsules as well on all of my gold. Makes them pop! The gold mercury is fantastic. One of my favorites and I don’t have one! 😡 Are you going to get the square 1/10 Australian map coin? Those are unique. Best of luck in your endeavors! See you around.
Thanks, VS! The 1/10 map coin is definitely on the list.. just picked up the AUS Battle of the Coral Sea for $191 shipped this month. I have a pretty great dollar cost average on this collection because I'm fortunate to get great deals at the LCS on fractional gold! It's always great to hear from creators like you, still feels weird after watching your content for so long! Cheers 🍻
For me, it's about the same as 1 ounce Silver as it is for 1/10th ounce Gold. Prefer the Kangaroos & Britannias. The best deal on fractional Gold premium wise is usually on the US $5 Commems. You get almost 1/4 ounce of gold & they are usually very near spot price.
I’m coming out of silver and into fractional gold as they are a lot less expensive over here than the 1oz gold and we have various animals I’m interested in, I have one USA one … hoping for a maple one day and I love the kruggerand 😍 they are hard to find here without huge premiums so slowly does it but I did score a few today … so a few is a collection 😅
I just picked up the 1/10 oz Devil's Brigade and 1/10 oz War in the Corral Sea for $202 & $205. I wasn't really in the market for either but the low prices were just too great to pass up. I'm looking to add a 2022 1/10 oz Maple but dang those premiums of 40%+!
How about the South Korean Tiger? Those came in 1/4 and 1 oz denominations. They go for some high premiums though, but are beautiful coins, glad I bought them when I did. They might've came in a 1/10 oz.
I’m in uk so I stack half sovereigns, they’re slightly bigger than the one tenth but they’re low premium here so they’re cheap (ish). My favourite one tenth is the Isle of Man angel. Just subscribing. Great channel dude
I agree which is why I refer to this as my collection. For my gold stack, I prefer 1 oz coins. I recently did a video on these premium differences for the American Gold Eagle from 10 major dealers and found that, while some charge as much as 55% premium for the 1/10, you can regularly find them elsewhere in the 15% range. There's some great charts in that video, I think you'd like it! ruclips.net/video/j04r1bl-W_Q/видео.html

A challenge that’s actually worth it
name a challenge that is not worth it.
Great small gold coins! I like the Mercury gold “dime”. I would like someday to get that one and the other US Mint gold versions of famous old designs.
Congrats!
Thanks Heist! There's obviously the Palladium eagle with the same design, but that's not in my price range just yet!
Sounds pretty complicated to be honest! I like my 16mm capsules and tube for simplicity's sake, but I'm all about making do with what's on hand!
@@SilverForeverX not to bad took me like 10 minutes to do 16. I refuse to spend money If I don’t need to.
The new Britannia with all the security details is my favorite coin in the world right now.
right now? how often does your favorite coin change
Welcome
🚀
The black ring capsule also holds the coin better imo
Good point. White ring would do the same, but I just really like the black ring! I've done a few video updates on the 1/10 collection since this one-- check it out! Another update coming soon!
Great video! I smashed that like button, and already a sub.
Very much appreciated!!!!
panda gold appreciates much more than other coins bc each year the design is different and Chinese love to collect
Awesome! I really wish I had the full QB collection, I think it's the best series out there
@@SilverForeverX you could short cut to a 1kg ag completer, I bought one because it seemed the RM didn't seem to be bringing out a 10oz.
New stacker here. Wouldn’t Francs and Ducats be a better fractional investment for the lower premiums?
I am from the US but I think I like the Britannias. I know everyone likes the Libertads but they are just too expensive.
I took the challenge also 9 more and i will a full tube
Nice!! What 9 do you have?
The one I REALLY want to get is a 1/10 Buffalo but that price....
@@SilverForeverX I have been buying them for a few years have eagles over 30 and other 1/10 oz gold rounds 9 more and i can hold over $6000 in the palm of my hand
Wow! It really seems like the ultimate "bug-out" stack, especially because it's fractional
Wish I would have been aware of the 1/10 AGE a long time ago.. I would have liked to have accumulated a complete date set. I only started collecting PM at the end of 2018.
Depending on where you buy, you could probably still get a bunch of the dates.. 1/10 AGEs are fairly common to find at the LCS in my experience
Yes, I know. But my OCD will kick in and I'll be compelled to pay more for harder-to-get pieces. I think I am just going to concentrate on getting the best price and forgo the "collection" aspect.
obviously, you are failing as a collector. does failing make you feel good about your gold choices? @@happyhippo4664
1/10 oz britannias are 16.5 mm right? Or do the 16 mm ones fit them? Just curious
Britannias fit just fine
I only have clear capsules and the black rim looks way better at least on camera.
The Mercury gold dime is my #1 dime
SO glad I got it! What a fantastic coin!
They were a great coin and I also bought some of the gold standing liberty quarters from the mint as well. Those are also pretty coins.
3.1g in 1/10 coins) is actually wider at 18mm diameter, but thinner at 1.02mm.
nice coinsI am excited to get some of myfirst gold coinshere soon hopeto get a1/4oz and a1/10oz and spagtacular is pretty cool.1enjoy his videos as well
I'm so excited just order my first Au 1/10 Age. 🙏
9 months later, are you still excited that you paid a high premium?
Great video sir.
New sub here..Im newer to gold as well..I have 1/10 and 1/4 Maple leafs..Britannia and type 2 American eagles..Take Care.
Happy to have you on the channel Richard!
I would love to get one of these mercury dimes someday
Just started my 1/10 challenge so far I Have 3 Brits and 5 Eagles….. thanks to Speg for the challenge and all those who took it up a reported on it… got me inspired
here is a challenge for you: take they money you would have spent on gold and put it in a growth fund instead.
why is it scratched to chit?
Sometimes people keep their coins loose and I buy them later... Other times they look more scratched than they are because the capsules themselves are scratched
Nice channel, good video, looks like you are going to do well in this space! Way easier to get into silver like you say. Good explanation on premiums. Great 1/10 collection! I use the black ring capsules as well on all of my gold. Makes them pop!
The gold mercury is fantastic. One of my favorites and I don’t have one! 😡
Are you going to get the square 1/10 Australian map coin? Those are unique.
Best of luck in your endeavors! See you around.
Thanks, VS! The 1/10 map coin is definitely on the list.. just picked up the AUS Battle of the Coral Sea for $191 shipped this month. I have a pretty great dollar cost average on this collection because I'm fortunate to get great deals at the LCS on fractional gold! It's always great to hear from creators like you, still feels weird after watching your content for so long! Cheers 🍻
What is the importance of mercury diamonds
For me, it's about the same as 1 ounce Silver as it is for 1/10th ounce Gold.
Prefer the Kangaroos & Britannias.
The best deal on fractional Gold premium wise is usually on the US $5 Commems.
You get almost 1/4 ounce of gold & they are usually very near spot price.
Where did you get that chest!? Looks fun for some fractionals😁
Wish I know about these different coin I would reallly like that brrittanna
I picked up a couple Brittanias, $229 per I had to!
Hard to pass over that opportunity with today's prices!
Where is the best place to buy these 1/10 coins? Reputable place?
Where do you get your capsules from?
didn't you pay attention? amazon.
What is the resale on a tenth oz? On say a new coin Or uncirculated !
Man i wish i was part of that challenge !
The challenge starts whenever you start!
@@SilverForeverX heck yes my friend , this is the challenge to myself this year !
@@silverstanger1103 I love it!
How much was the libertad? About $900? 😆 I playing but they do have a hefty premium, unless you can find a deal. (LCS)
Do all coin stores have junk bins?
You should check out the 1/10 Gold West Point Buffalo from 2008.
Nice! I've been lucky to score many low-premium fractional pieces locally. Sometimes it can really pay to find the right LCS!
Where did you buy it from? On line or local?
@@SilverForeverX both.
You need a Kookaberra!
Do I ever.. I really like the 2022!
How about the South Korean Tiger? Those came in 1/4 and 1 oz denominations. They go for some high premiums though, but are beautiful coins, glad I bought them when I did. They might've came in a 1/10 oz.
Have you tried saying capsule?
Do I pronounce it weird?
I’m in uk so I stack half sovereigns, they’re slightly bigger than the one tenth but they’re low premium here so they’re cheap (ish). My favourite one tenth is the Isle of Man angel. Just subscribing. Great channel dude
Save your money on 1/10 oz. Add ten 1/10 oz and compare to a 1 oz coin. You'll save hundreds of dollars.
But if I get the money out of my hands I am not tempted by other things!!! Now I have 8/10 oz of gold already
i pity the fools who have no self discipline. without self discipline, you will screw up your life. you gotta ask yourself :after you screw up your life, will having a few tiny gold coins make you feel better. @@ewetho

I want a gold Krugerrand so bad, any size.
I just happened to randomly see one at the LCS the other day, was pleasantly surprised to find it was the first year of 1/10 ozt issue!
you dont want it bad, of course, if you did, you would have one
You need the new Spanish lynx bullion in your collection.
Wow, thanks for letting me know about this one!
Thanks! Do you know if there is a 1/10 ozt or only 1 ozt ?
@@SilverForeverX This is the first year and there are only 12,000 coins for the whole world. They have made them one ounce. Next year it is rumored that there may be a larger print run and other sizes.
