    A SoundCanvas might sound "better" ... but the "original" Soundblaster sound will forever have a place in my heart. Just because it's all we had and knew back then. Most of us anyway.

    COMPUCON! oh man that brand brings back memories - my work ~20 years ago, had a bunch of compucon workstations that looked similar

    Doom is the game to test. First thing I played when I bought an SC-88.

      I Always liked the ym3812 Sound better than the Midi Version of Doom...

    Otoh seems you lose the sound effects, only music.

      Yes only the SC-88 is connected in the second test, it only generates midi and not sound effects. I don’t have a pass through setup.

      ⁠@@michaeldale837your supposed to have a sound pass through coming from your sound card. The cable (3.5mm to RCA) probably cost $2 on eBay.
