I use this trap, along with some of their others. They work amazingly. The only thing I dislike is that when I get chipmunks, they get further in before setting off the trap, and I often find them still alive and the bar having come down lower on their back, by their hips.
That's better than a slow death, though. I've seen mice that had a Victor snap trap get them squarely across the neck flail around for 10 - 20 seconds as they slowly suffocated. And also later caught one that ran off with a snap trap in an electronic trap to discover it had a very noticeable dent across its neck. It somehow survived the snap across its neck, ran off with the trap and got out of it. (I took a picture of that one, because I knew no one would believe me otherwise.) I'd prefer a trap that is overkill, but 100% instant, over that.
Rat-on-a-stick has only itself to blame, since it didn't read the employment contract when it signed up to work for Shawn. If it had, it'd have noticed in paragraph 4 on page 956 that this was part of its job.
I think the you tube algorithm isn't censoring Shawn Woods any more. I'm not a subscriber but I love his videos and they stopped appearing a few months ago, I got this one coming up two hours after it was launched!

Like @cgbdfb52 said, if they get in your attic you'll need to catch them. Also goes for chipmunks. We had some get into our attic and they made a hell of a mess.

Hi how are things! I've been following your channel for a while and I like seeing the old traps that have been developed for mice. By the way. Do you still have your ghost mouse video? Hi Shawn, I would like to order the Quell 4-11 (Big) squirrel trap from your Amazon website. The picture on your website does not show the "new improved version" of the trap with the "tunnel" that you show in your video. If I purchase from you will I get the "new improved version" with the "tunnel" on the front of the trap as shown in your video ??
I'm guessing the answer is no, considering he didn't reply to you in over two weeks. I wouldn't buy from his site. If a merchant won't answer your pre-sales questions, that's a huge red flag. 🚩🚩🚩
Very cool contraption, but why does it look like it was built by a middle school shop class? Or it was built in the 1930s. They could’ve made a little bit more modern looking.
Why, that would make it cost more. It's not out there to win a beauty contest, it's for killing rodents. Who cares what it looks like if it works that well.
Shawn, I went to your web site and none of the links to view videos on Mousetrap Monday work. And your contact me is another dead end. I typed a message and then was told I need to do the button that I am not a robot. And that button never appears. So there is no way to submit the message. Interestingly, on the Ouell website, the picture of the 4-11 only shows a trap with the large main tunnel, not the version with the lead-in tunnel.
Shawn addressed that in the video description: "The new updated version with the extra tunnel in front will be available in a few months."
I have the old 4-11 without the tunnel, the tunnel is a nice addition but without it it still works 95% of the time. Awesome trap

I looked at the video of the bar hitting the toy rat frame by frame. 1 frame it's all good and the next frame it's almost at rest position. Mighty fast action.
The video's probably 24 frames per second, so it took at most 1/24th of a second (41.2ms) to snap down.
It looks like the second "kill bar" isn't a kill bar at all but rather a tool for helping set the trap.

What is the purpose of the 2nd kill bar--the one that does not close all the way down?

Looks more like additional leverage to help you pull the real kill bar back.
If you watch the setting, the second bar pulls the spring back even more.
