    i am colombian and live in miami for over 20 years i traveled recently to medellin althought people are very nice if you go out looking for woman you will find yourself trouble a lot of people struggling financially!!! dont go solo i almost got drugged with scopolamine fortunately i am street smart and got away!! go with friends is more safe!! a lot evil people with bad intentions

    Sadly I don’t have any faith in the Columbia police in finding justice. Pls do not travel to Colombia. Kidnapping rose to 88% in the last year! If you want to live pls dong go there.

      Columbia police went to his hotel and saw a women taking his belonging and apparently manage to escape and fled the scene while they was there. Tells you all you need to know about Columbia police, a total joke. A women escape from the police. Come on now, they let her go.

      If you follow news Nation wide; just this last 3 month there were 2 Americans was murder while visiting Columbia too. So including TGX; that's 3 Americans murder in Columbia. It's so surreal bc I met him not too long ago; such a happy person. He will be deeply missed. His work touched so many pple heart. 😢😢😢 smh

      @@dunkinherdonut8471 If you look at his social media, it's suspicious AF! Dude has pictures of himself before his death with women with questionable reputation. I suspect these girls were prostitutes and he was killed by their pYmp for not paying or some disagreement over the price.
      1) this guy is not getting multiple young pretty women without paying for it. Not happening.
      2) no one gets kidnapped for $2,000 ransom.
      3) the brutality of his killing suggests revenge or punishment.

    Very sad indeed knowing a brother I've known since high school being murdered. Nothing but love and respect for this man. May you Rip 🙏 and hope that justice will prevail. My heartache with sadness 😢.

    I remember tou came to my elementary school to perform.im 31 years old and he has always aspire me to be proud of my culture and embracing education as a way to bridge humanity.
    A teacher even in life and death. RIP you will be missed.

    I flew back from Colombia on Saturday. Visited a woman I met on International Cupid two years ago. She was worried about our safety. She brought her grandmother. We stayed at the hotel closest to the airport and did not go out after dark. Room service was incredible!

      @@jeffswanson4594 Bogota. We stayed at hotel Movich Buro 26. It is the closest hotel to the airport with a free airport shuttle every 30 minutes. The hotel has an AMAZING restaurant. We ordered a lot of room service. Don't travel alone. Don't travel at night. We visited Monserrate on Friday. It is a beautiful church at the top of a mountain. The city is in the caldera of a volcano. The views are exquisite. Airport and hotel areas are safe. Outside of the city is upper middle class homes. The middle of the city has police with machine guns. Stay away from that area. Only visit people you know. I have been friends with my fiance for two years. We discussed safety at length before booking a trip. She lived in Bogota for a few months to help support her family. She was robbed four times. She is dirt poor. If you are smart, you will be fine.

    This is so heart breaking not just in our community but to Minnesota. I hope the family finds justice soon and bring the culprits to serve their crime so the family can have peace. Tou, thank you for always sharing our Hmong culture to the world. RIP. 😢

    Man. His brother is just too naive when he says he believes the Colombia Police will find who did this to him. That whole police force makes less then a MCD’s employee. The criminals pay them better under the table.
    Man, I’m sorry for your loss. But it’s time to just let go.
    RIP, brother Touger Xiong. You should’ve just found a lovely Hmong girl and be happy with her. Instead of trying to impress the world with the most exotic woman you can find in another race.

    I lived in Medellin for almost a year. Never had any bad experiences. Saw a lot of tourists come and go. Some were there for the wrong reasons and unfortunately, they weren't street savvy enough to realize when they were in over their heads. Meeting people online through dating apps is a no-no. Condolences to his family.

    Cartels in Mexico and South America are a reality. If you travel there alone, then you are literally risking your life. When I travel there for business, they always tell me not to leave my hotel room no matter what. I'll miss his appreciation, and voice for the Hmong community. Hopefully his family will allow the Hmong American community to mourn with them once his body is brought back. 😢

    Condolences to Touger family. He gave a memorable speech and comedian performance when I was in grade school. Cannot believe this is true. Still hoping he got away to somewhere safe working his way back to MN to his family. Bring justice to those cold hearted inhumane people!

    I just went to Medellin in July. Medellin is a beautiful city and I think it is the MOST beautiful city in Colombia. we were told by our tour guides that although the city is beautiful the environment or society is very danger. just don't let your guard down for a minute.

      @@DLIX2DCLI I went with large tour group from the US. A local tour guide hired by an official agency in the US to babysits us 24/7 around the clock and we stay at an all 5 stars hotels.

      Don’t be. I’ve been there four times. It’s a beautiful place with beautiful ppl. Be smart though. Do your research before you go. Know where good places for tourists and avoid places ppl tell you not to go too. I never once felt any less safe there than I do in the states…

    Its so sad but why? He seems like a smart person. Why travel there of all places. Met him 26 years ago and last time i saw and spoke to him was in 2009. I guess ill never understand. When i first heard, i was not surprise he didn't survive where he visited. I have a lot of Mexican coworkers who share stories of their families and friends being robbed, kidnapped, assaulted and murdered in that city and cities like that.     I gotta be honest. Brother was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Met with the wrong girl. Columbia is dangerous but being vigilant could’ve saved him. We can’t foresee the results of the choices we make. Any one of us could’ve been in that predicament - anywhere, anytime. RIP, Tou Ger Xiong.

      No, not any of us could've been in that predicament. Most people do not go to foreign countries, especially one already with a reputation like Colombia, to look for younger women (or men for that matter). He was 50 and he sure was not looking for women in their 40s when he was there. It was clear that what is his intentions were going to Colombia when some of his friends were self proclaimed "passport bros".

I know 2 people who got drugged by scopolamine. Both said they thought the girl was very nice and shy....then boom! Drugged once they went to the bathroom.

    This is heartbreaking; Colombia you need to do better and treat foreigners better. Stop robbing them, kidnapping them and then murder them. It is important that Colombian governments addresses these issues and ensure the safety and rights of everyone when traveling to their country. Tou Ger's death will undoubtedly felt deeply by many. November 2022, a Vietnamese guy died for the same reason in Colombia as well. RIP!
