    Doc does a spike aeration on the back lawn as well as a reel mow and fertilize. However, aeration of the lawn should not be done until the lawn is actively growing, and fully green. Most warm seasons lawns still have a while to go.

    I'm not ready to start all of this stuff back up!!! Working a desk job all day and then coming home and doing lawn stuff until after dark really gets old! It's only February, Doc! I'm an hour from you and we still have a good shot at freezing temps and snow until April! That grass sure is green, though, so I guess you know what you're doing! Enjoy that sunshine for me!

    Doc, thought I would seek your advice on something - the trees are down and am expecting my tree guy to be at the house within the next week or two to remove the stumps. Once he has I can finally run a soil test and apply my granular Dimension. My Bermuda lawn has grown thin in places from all of the shade and I really not in great enough shape to pull plugs from. I plan on leveling the lawn come May/June. How can I help the grass fill in the area where the stumps have been removed and how will leveling affect my pre-emergent? Front Lawn - 3,350 Sq Ft.

  • @alfordcourt
    @alfordcourt 7 месяцев назад +1

    Doc, I know sand leveling is best done when grass is growing full speed. I just burned off all the dormant grass and was thinking that it sure would be a great time to level with no grass in the way. What say you?

    • @CR-ow2wp
      @CR-ow2wp 7 месяцев назад +1

      By burned off, do you mean you killed your existing lawn and plan to start a new one from seed?
      If yes, then it would be a great time to level the lawn first before putting the seed down.

    • @HowTowithDoc
      @HowTowithDoc  7 месяцев назад +2

      The only problem you'll face with leveling now is heavy rains and the movement of the bare soil, sand, and leveling mix.

    I’m in Maryland and My back yard is shaded fairly good due to a beautiful weeping Willow tree and isn’t nearly as full or thick as I’d like what’s a seed you all would recommend because tall fescue doesn’t seem to be working

    Thanks Doc. Bermuda grass here ... so slow / no start 25" Mclane reel mower needs assistance. You mentioned a few drops of gas directly in the carburetor and the pull and repeat if needed. How would "Mechanic in a bottle" do for that? Should it go in the gas tank instead? I switched last year to No Ethanol gas.

    • @HowTowithDoc
      @HowTowithDoc  7 месяцев назад +1

      It's probably just gummed up carb. Few drops in carb, no choke. Repeat a few times and it will suck out the gummed. Then clean with carb cleaner spray.

      @jimgreyard6623 7 месяцев назад +1

      @HowTowithDoc Many thanks. I will try it. I took the 2020 reel mower in last summer and they replaced my carburetor saying Honda recommends that instead of cleaning out all the carb. Hummm. must be due to the time and labor charge.

    I have Emerald Zoysia. It is completely mature. I live in Atlanta, Georgia area. When I do aerate in a few months, what kind of sand do I use to do some leveling?? Should I level before I fertilize or can it be done at the same time? Should I be doing complete core aeration or some other kind??

    • @PatriotPlus179
      @PatriotPlus179 6 месяцев назад

      Use all-purpose sand. I'm not sure about fertilizing before or after the top dressing though. I would guess fertilize after the top dressing.
