VNV nation are the best so many amazing hits alternative and commercial.
When this song was released I heard it for the first time when it was played in a local club. It was also my first evening out after my girlfriend broke up with me. She was my first true love and we spent almost 3 years together. I heard the vocals saying "I am still proud of what we were" and I had to choke so hard on the dancefloor to keep my tears back.
This was the first song I’ve heard from them about 20 years ago. I still love it.

VNV are too soft for pure EBM. EBM is a subcategory of Future Pop. Many currents flow into it.
EBM itself is mostly characterized by the strong use of sequencers and hard march-like rhythms.

@@fahrenheit...451 that's just a subset of EBM, harsh, dancy, poppy...large umbrella...I've always considered bands like And One, Wolfsheim, Neurotic Fish, Bruterschaft, Assemblage 23....all the synth poppy type but then you have all the harsher aggrotech and even industrial, witch also falls under EBM it's the umbrella for non top 40 electro that you can dance to.

More specifically VNV Nation is EKM(Ekektronische KörperMusik) or in english EBM(Electronic Body Music). Synth music leaning towards techno and industrial.

@@WesWsly Might just have been the people around me and some people on the internet then. I've always heard futurepop when it comes to VNV, IoC, A23, Apoptygma (welcome to earth era) and Neuroticfish. To be honest. It makes more sense. Then then have a seperate "sub-genre", just because the genre is so big. Can't really say anything about Rotersand. I think I've listen to a few songs by them. And have never been my cup of tea.
So let's shake hands and call it EBM. And I'll change my ways and stop using futurepop for this lovely genre 😊

Came here for the futurepop / EBM. So extremely glad you reviewed our world. Take a glance back at what was going on here... the philosophy underpinning will take you back a few thousand years.
This song is 20 years old BTW. VNV Nation is always ahead of the pack on EBM, everyone else follows. From this period also check out "Legion" or "Darkangel".
VNV used to pack the dance floors at goth/industral clubs in the day. Back in the late 90s I was in an Industrial band out of Detroit. Got to open for VNV Nation a few times along with Icon Of Coil, Covenant, Stronkern (look up their song “stand up”), Melotron, In Strict Confidence, and even Clan of Xymox. Fun times. Now I’m 51 and am a hospice nurse and chaplain.

Good to see some VNV appreciation out there. Would recommend checking out Rubicon in particular. They've got a ton of good songs, but that one's a personal standout for me.
Vnv has saved many lives with their music and lyrics! But some of their music should come with warning label, for example, if you're currently grieving a loss, don't listen to "From My Hands" by vnv nation, you'll let out a snot bubble for sure at some point of the song.
My absolute all-time favourite track by VNV. They are largely known in the goth scene, so that is probably why the creator of that lyrics video chose the font and visuals that they did. If you ever do another one by VNV, check out “All Our Sins”. Just as epic.
2nd favorite personally. I still prefer Nova by a very slim margin. Not like you can go wrong though..

It's not EDM, it's synth-pop. The song is about a loved one who passed away and he can't stop thinking about her and knows they will be together for eternity once he dies...I think. The song Forsaken is when you know he's singing about a loved one who dies and he wants to shut down due to her death...I think. Is it pronounced with two syllables (be-luv'd) or with three (be-luv-ed). I've been saying "Two syllables (Be-luv'd) this whole time...
Edit - 45 minutes later...I've know and loved this song since it came out and just today, I noticed Ronan (Singer) pronounces it with three syllables (be-luv-ed).....I still say Be-luv'd lol
song always makes me think of young long and being free and seeing the world together and nothing can stop you, but, something happened, and they lost their love, separated, and as he is standing there seeing the world as white and grey, he's remembering his love as he wait for his wing to fly into eternity, maybe someday to reunite with his love.
