      Hi there
      With it being 2 specific gears it prob gears themselves that are damaged.. might be worth dropping the sump off with the engine in situ and checking on the fork fingers and drum that if memory serves me right can all be got at underneath once the sump is off and the gears can be inspected and see how things are engaging visually..also check for gear teeth peices in the oil and sump .. this can all be done with engine in frame ..
      Next step is to drop the engine amd split it to get the gear box out.. good luck 👍

  • @plasmatix00
    @plasmatix00 3 года назад +1

    Hello, you do not have a video of the process, I have to change the box to my Z1000sx and I was looking for a video or image of the process, it is necessary to lower the engine or the change can be made underneath.

    • @trebor4460
      @trebor4460  3 года назад +2

      Hi Buddy no I didn't make a vid of the whole process but there should be a few vids on the journey from diagnosis to completion.. the work cannot be done from underneath of its an actual gear change ..the cogs cannot be taken out until the engine is lowered out of the frame and then turned over and the casting split..the gearbox can then be removed .. contrary to the manual the whe top end can be left in situ and need not be touched 👍

    Thanks...

      Hi buddy, no you do not have to disassemble the cylinders just remove the engine and split the crankcase from underneath and lift off... Good luck with the repair 👍

    Hi Rob. I saw the video before this where you had just got the engine out and still had the starter to remove. Once you got the engine out it looks like you turned the engine upside down and removed just the crankcase bolts to get access to the gearbox? That looks reasonably straight forward, the engine removal being the hard part?

    • @trebor4460
      @trebor4460  5 лет назад +2

      Yep pretty straight forward but u got to be meticulous when pulling it apart and nothing where all the pins go as they are different lengths and the clutch needs to be dropped out also ..my advise would defo get a Haynes workshop manual bit ignore where it says to take top end off as well as it assumes u are doing a complete strip down , when in fact for the gearbox ..thankfully..this can all be left alone .

    Hi, guys!
    Tomorrow, I found, that on 4th gear at 3000-5000 rpm i got unpleasant jerks, dips in engine traction or something like that.
    My Bazzaz traction is bleeping on that moment.
    The same is wit full of traction, only on 4th gear. 4-th gear stays on, does not fly off to neutral or etc, no knocking in the gearbox right now.
    Later it occurred again and more often, and at higher rpm too.
    Only on 4th gear, no failed or fake neutral, z1000 Gen4 2018, 16000 km total.
    1.Is it begining of problems with 4th gear sprocket disease?
    2.Which sprockets of gearbox i need to buy to fix this issue now or in future? Does it fit from Versus, z900 etc.?
    3. Do anybody know the tuning manufacturer with high performance sprockets for z1000 Gen4

    • @trebor4460
      @trebor4460  3 года назад

      I feel your pain ... you need to trawl the motorcycle breakers for one that is breaking a z1000 preferably late 2015 or 2016, other than that drop the engine e split it and take your gear box out and take the gears off that are slipping, 4th gear invariably and get the new gears from kawasaki and rebuild the gearbox. It's a must to get the Haynes workshop manual if you are going to repair this yourself 👍
