    You know she doesn't ONLY do Becker she does EVERY other guitar GOD as well! Listen to her cover of Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata I mean she rips the strings on that thing! I mean over 6 minutes of over 2450 notes without missing even ONE of them! And how about Steve Vai's For the Love of God? Or Gary Moore's work? She does all these players with her own slant on their work. In looking through these others I noticed you caught my drift regarding this phenomenal player and in my opinion she IS the GOAT. When you listen to her you may find others reaching her level in some areas but across the board NOBODY plays the strings at her level. Nobody.

    Thanks DJ. This got my 2022 started in a great way. Very few people have reacted to this video, especially anyone with guitar skills. Thanks for doing it. Everyone thinks her Beethoven cover is her best, but for me its Altitudes. You can't just have technical ability, you have to have the emotional chops as well. Plus a real feel/sense of legato. If you miss one thing, the whole piece falls flat. For the Love of God has been my favorite of her covers for years, but this one might just top it. I don't believe you've reacted to her version of The Loner yet. There are several shorter ones that you could put together and just do one reaction. Eruption was her first RUclips upload and is what first got everyones attention, including myself. I would suggest The Loner first, then pick ones that interest you. By the way, Jason Becker did send Tina a tweet congratulating her on this cover.

    I don't know how old she is here, BUT, her teacher/coach, Renaud Louis-Servais said that he took her on as a student when she was 13 years old until she was 18 years old. Prior to that Tina had been training on an acoustic guitar. I can't imagine that there is sheet music for this stuff which means that girl is listening to the original and then playing by ear! Mirroring what she hears. Talk about phenomenal!

    I first heard Jason Becker's Perpetual Burn album over 30 years ago and it's one of my most favourite guitar shred albums so I fully understand what you say. Jason was a musical genius and Tina's cover of this extremely technical and difficult piece is phenomenal. I am a guitarist of 50 years so I understand and know all of the playing techniques. Tina is the best female guitarist I've ever heard (Laura Lace a close second). As a passionate music lover for 57 years I've heard some of the very best guitarists in all known styles, so nothing really impresses me any more as far as guitar playing is concerned, but I was totally blown away by Tina. All her videos are this good and she was only 17 when she recorded this!.....FRIGHTENING!!!

    She is a shred master! She has speed and accuracy with her left hand obviously. But her picking hand, just so relaxed and smooth...At the end of the piece when she was using the bar, there were parts of the solo that reminded me of "Phantom Of The Opera" from the musical. Actually, this whole piece could be in the musical and would sound like it was always there.

Her soulful covers of Vai's "For the Love of God" and Gilmour's "Comfortably Numb" will probably make more than a few grown men cry and yes she can shred with the best of all time. ... I believe she is 17 years old at this 2016 recording ...
    Tina Setkic (born 7 April 1999) is a French guitarist specialising in covering technically difficult solos of heavy metal from Van Halen, Gary Moore, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, and Pink Floyd, and metalised classical music including pieces from Beethoven, Paganini, and Vivaldi, mainly employing a guitar technique known as shredding.
    From the age of thirteen, her popularity has increased, especially through RUclips and social media, attracting the attention of notable musicians and guitar manufacturers.
    Originally from the Paris region, she received classical guitar lessons at the age of 6 and later studied under jazz-rock guitarist Renaud Louis-Servais. At the age of 9, she covered the classic version of "Hotel California" by the Eagles and at 13 she began to specialise in electric rock.
    Setkic started a RUclips channel in 2007 (at age 8) and in 2013 uploaded a video of her cover of Eddie Van Halen's guitar solo Eruption. Within a week, this video was seen four million times and in the following two years had been watched eleven million times.
    In the same year, she took up Antonio Vivaldi's third movement, "Presto", from the Concerto No. 2 in G minor, op. 8, RV 315, better known as the Summer of Four Seasons (the piece was adapted for the electric guitar by Patrick Rondat in 1996). In March 2015, she played Through the Fire and Flames, by the British band DragonForce.
    By early 2016, her videos had received a total of about sixty million visits and in 2017. Setkic has not uploaded any videos since late 2016 but by 2020 she had amassed a total of 162 million views.
    Setkic is a featured artist of the French guitar manufacturer Vigier Guitars, and her playing has been noticed by bassist Wolfgang Van Halen.
    According to Setkic, her interest in the guitar stems from her passion for the work of female guitarists Ana Vidović and Orianthi. (Wiki)

However, she initially put out one or two in a year. Some of these she recorded when she was 12. I just don't remember which ones.

    • @TempleMusicAcademy
      @TempleMusicAcademy Год назад

      Great question. Advanced players like Tina don’t always need to see where their fingers are to play accurately. Eventually the piece you’re playing becomes second nature and you only check in every once in a while.
      I suspect this is what is happening here.

    • @gushy7438
      @gushy7438 Год назад

      @@TempleMusicAcademy I appreciate the quick response. This shows me how seriously you take every question here.. As for my question, I read that it takes about 40-50 thousand repetitions to get that muscle memory, especially for complex performances, which in itself is incredible. And the fact that Tina is able to play such complex songs, does it classify her as a virtuoso or is there a standard by which this is determined?
      And if she is not a virtuoso on this instrument yet, what must she achieve to be defined as a virtuoso?
      Thank you again.

    I don't know what to suggest for another Tina S. I know when the guitarist from Dragon Force reacted to "Through The Fire And Flames" he commented that she was doing both guitar parts since they were recorded together and can't be separated. I will suggest you check out something a little unusual, it brings new meaning to the term "Shredding". Watch 2Cellos cover "The Trooper Overture".

    Temple Music Academy
    An interesting, appreciated review. Tina has come and apparently - gone.
    You're aware that she went to an academy in France, which she said in her (only?) interview 'anyone' can enroll in (or their parents can enroll the kid).
    Very modest of her. What she didn't add is that not everyone can STAY in the academy! She must have been pretty good to hang in there.
    She also said that compared to her classical pieces, rock was very easy.
    Did she find her way into rock/progressive because she got the dreaded 'shove' at the academy - she could no longer compete - or go to rock by choice? Whatever, some great skills.

    Tina S is amazing! It's such a shame she left RUclips. I hope she's still playing! I have to recommend you to check out Mikio Fujioka. Japanese guitarist that passed away way to young. He worked as a teacher at Musicians Institute in Osaka. Virtually every single Japanese shredder have at some time had him as a teacher or mentor. Here he's playing with the amazing Takayoshi Ohmura (Plays in Marty Friedmans band among many others).
