Potato chip rock in San Diego is one of those hiking spots where you can make it seem like you’re hanging or standing on the edge of a cliff if you take the picture right.
6:00 Correct me if my math is off but I'm seeing LESS than 1 cent per Hyatt point on the base rate I only see about 1 cent per point is if you base the points on the room rate, room tax, RESORT fee and RF tax. As an example look at Wednesday February 12.............room rate is $335.20 for the base luxury king suite.............rate with resort fee and all taxes is $436.74. They want 49,750 Hyatt points for the same base Luxury king suite. If you are paying points based on only the base room rate at 1 cent per point it should be 33,520 points per night. Even with all fess included it's still should only be 43,674 points per night if you were getting 1 cent per point.
You should definitely include the rate with all fees. We are talking about cents per point on the final cost. Definitely less than 1 cent on many dates. Terrible.
Where Flying Blue devaluations are concerned, I think these have been the "good old days" of travel hacking, and with the explosion of new travelers coupled with the rising voices to reduce the US swipe fees and interest rates that pay for it all, it's only going to get more difficult. Grab those SUBs and cheap business redemptions while you can!
It goes through peaks and valleys - but I think the airlines and hotels make way too much money off their programs to not fight tooth and nail to keep it going.
Picked up Hyatt CC not too long ago and just got the 5 free nights. It might be a bit of pain to use them in time if I don't get away this year. But the current points for SUB plus a massive spend to get 1 extra point/dollar? I'm glad their not inflating the number of points (so the next move is a devaluation) but a few better offers would be nice.
The FNC offer is a powerful one, but we see so many people booking local hotels to just burn them up at the end of the year because they waited too long to use them. That is why points works better for many.
Be honest, how much $ do you think you average loosing by forgetting to redeem points or loosing your own money by trying to earn more points. In a year, on average?
Many points don't expire as long as their is activity or if you have the card etc. Some never expire no matter what. Over around 15 years I lost 40K Lifemiles from expiration once. It is more rare than you might think

Well mgm set a pretty low bar for elite benefits with Marriott - even a titanium doesn’t get free parking that they give for the mgm credit card

The birds on the cruise ship is hilarious. Some ppl just cant follow instructions 😅
It really is a nightmare scenario. 🤣
I’m more floored by the fact that some dummy thinks they should get a free room when they left the patio open to nature… 🤦♂️

Agreed. Travel hacking RIP’d in 2023. But it will come back again once economy tanks. Reset cycle
If fees get cut there will definitely be a huge shift.

Does any of the travel insurance you can buy (or perhaps comes with a cc) cover an Airbnb stay?

Yeah 5 free nights is a better value. Expiring certs are a pain but a lot of nice places to use those.

I got a 5x for my Amazon Prime card for a max up to 1000.00 in spend, not bad.
Love these for the little earnings bump.
Cmon you didn’t say look jack sparrow on a cruise ship.
I know it's mean but watching people walk into glass is the funniest thing ever
It hurts so much though. Not that I would know! 🤣
It was pretty wild
