I love how Jools introduces all the artists and they're all wearing stage clothes...then the camera keeps panning left and Thurston comes into view and it's a bit like "Who let the trailer park kids in here?"
I was 27 in 1992 and a fan of Sonic Youth for some years at the time (as I was a fan of the Pixies too for instance) and back then I didn't understand where the fuss was all about when Nirvana came along the year before... not to dis Nirvana (certainly not, I really like them), but me and my peers had been listening to alternative music for ages by then... and all of a sudden Nirvana was like the new way of Christ in the bizz, while before bands like that where just cnsidered hardcore underground. I also remember being somewhat dumbfounded by how people precieved how "heavy" Nirvana was... while I thought "nothing out of the oridinary going on around here, what's so special about these blokes?"... if you catch my drift! Great vidoe, by the way 😃
This was on the week before i saw sonic youth at manchester academy and brixton with pavement and the boredoms... fucking awesome i am still in love with kim!❤❤❤❤ and as a guitar player lee and thurston are always special challenging and inspirational... dont forget shelly though that mofo puts a shift in... Rock never dies mo matter wgat you call it!
I remember watching this when it was on . totally dug this! This on jools and other breakthrough artists rage against the machine , the screaming trees and even REM. for brits this was at the time a breath of fresh air. good times. thanks darren for sharing dude.

Ah Jools Holland. Where else would you get Shabba Ranks and Sonic Youth performing on the same programme? That's eclectic, right there!

I wish someone would upload the version of 'Sugar Kane' they did on this show as their second song. It's vicious.

I’m kinda ashamed that I discovered this amazing band so late 😮
I had heard of them though ..
Am I excused 😮
I think Sonic Youth left everyone in that room completely dumbfounded. They rocked out so hard that no one knew what to do when it was over.
