  • Update:
Update: Dx (@6:58): Positive nucleic acid amplification test (NAAT) (with or without acid-fast bacilli smear positivity) is considered sufficient for the diagnosis of tuberculosis.
    (@8.25) Current Canadian recommendations:
A criterion of 10 mm has a sensitivity of 90% and specificity of over 95%, and is recommended for most clinical situations. A criterion of 15 mm or more has a sensitivity of only 60%-70% but has high specificity (above 95%) in most parts of the world. However, this criterion is not appropriate for use in Canada, because specificity is not much higher than with 10+ mm, yet the sensitivity is reduced considerably.
Tx (@13:37): 2020 For treatment of latent TB infection in HIV-uninfected adults in low-incidence settings, a rifamycin-based regimen is favoured over isoniazid monotherapy due to its efficacy, favourable treatment completion rates, and relatively low hepatotoxicity rates. Isoniazid monotherapy is considered an alternative regimen for adults with newly diagnosed latent TB infection.
