Just to add to what you said, you can also use the curvature pen tool to create the whole thing, double clicking a point will change it to a sharp corner, and you can always switch to the regular pen tool, direct selection tool, or anchor point tool to adjust individual anchor points.

Hello my lovely, I would appreciate seeing how to trace complex art lettering but also how to insert, edit watercolour splodges in layers. Am I making sense?

When you load a paintbrush with water colour paint and allow it to drop/splodge onto the water colour paper - for instance - the mark of that splodge on the paper is scanned into the pc after it has dried. That mark becomes a pattern, in a sense, and is used for the backdrop of the writing traced. This process I am assuming would be done in layers. :)

a curve can only end once you join it, that completes it and itll end on its own
