Ive found Acceleration is more important. Think of it when 10 yards or less from a player how fast can u separate or close the gap for defense. High Speed kicks after the players been running longer than 10 yards.
I've moved athlete centers to TE and FB, lots of these guys can get 80+ speed and acceleration after a year or 2... Have had several 1st rd TEs doing this.
1) TEs don't come in as the lowest, WRs do, but both do grow, so long as the TEs are Blocking TEs. 2) Vertical Threat TEs do not progress Pass/Run Block Footwork/Power. That hinders their Overall rating significantly. 3) He is correct about always moving Run Stoppers to DT; did you know, Power Rushers are good, but Speed Rusher DEs develop faster than any other position on the DL? Flip any Speed Rusher DTs to DE, and favor them over Power Rushers, though do not ignore good Power Rushers.
Two of the best positions to recruit are power half back and physical wide receiver. Power halfbacks can play linebacker or tight end, and the physical wide receivers they can play tight end or they can play defensive back.
Had a 6’3” 234 power back at VA Tech, won two Heismans and two nattys before he got drafted and I went to Texas. Just ended up recruiting another one at Texas so I’m hoping to implement the same system.
I know everyone loves the hybrid safeties which is valid but my favorite safeties i’ve gone after are the really tall physical athletes. I’ve got a 96 speed 6’6 200 lb fs who in his freshman season had like 4 pick 6’s plus he came in with high 70s man and 80 zone dude is a complete stud.
I’ve had success recruiting ATH Possession TEs. They have better skill caps and always get a big ratings boost in the offseason. I had one get to 90 ovr, and got drafted in the 3rd round. I currently have one at 88 ovr. My backup TE is an 85 ovr with good skill caps and is projected to be my starting TE next season. I’ve been recruiting ATH Possession since then.
I don't recommend moving athlete WR/QB to TE unless you need bodies and want some speed at the position. HBs can end up being somewhat decent despite being undersized, but WRs and QBs end up not being able to block and barely developing in OVR. That's because of how vertical threats and TE OVRs work. So that beastly 93+ speed WR that you move to TE will end up being gimped overall, if you're lucky his caps will let him hit around an 80 OVR. Athlete Centers tend to develop into monster TEs. As long as he has decent speed, he'll develop his hands well, and you usually don't need to worry about him spending skill points on the blocking physical abilities.
@jolteon345 I try to explain this whenever I see someone mentions this: You are correct, and that is because VT TEs never develop Run/Pass Blocking Footwork/Power which plays a significant role towards Overall ratings. If anyone just looks at each Tendency's Ratings Group, you will notice these ratings are absent from growing at VT TEs.
I lean more towards recruiting athletes with the "Team Player" mental. They're way more flexible with their ratings at positions especially if you can hit on a gem with good caps/dev.
Has anyone experimented with moving ATH Power Backs to TE? Some of those guys come in at 6’3 230+ with 90+ speed and 80+ strength and they have good skill caps for catching and route running.
I grab any pass pro OL & switch his position behind a senior that’s pretty good. After the senior gets drafted I’ll play him as a G at tackle. End of year I’ll switch him back to T. Where he usually gains a few points. After the training he’s usually on his way to get drafted. Be careful you might lose an ability.
@MichaelSmith-du4tp I had an athlete qb, because he wasn't good enough, I moved him to wr. After the off season workouts he wasn't good enough to play. The next year, I moved him to rb, now he's the 3rd best rb in the nation
Athlete centers are the best blocking TE by far. I have one on my current Penn State Dynasty and he will decleat a cornerback and a Safety on the same play when I run outside.
Cool video ideas: Maxing out at each position: Trying to make a kicker university, a WR university, a OL university. Build the coach around this. See which is the best.
@JB33210 As someone that has done K/P University, and maxed out a player with 99 Overall/Kick Power/Kick Accuracy/Awareness and All Platinum abilities, they still do not get drafted, and thus can never boost your other players 😔
Figure it isn’t the meta, but I like to have players to fill different roles. I’ll recruit an elusive or receiving RB to be my 3DRB, and a power back for short yardage. Generally roll with the power guy as my RB1, but it depends on his speed and my offensive system. I’ve had good luck with route runner WRs. Not too fast (cap at like 90 speed), but they ALWAYS get open, and catch everything. Pays to have one of those along with a deep threat (or two) and maybe a physical jump-ball winner. I don’t prioritize TE other than as a safety-valve, so blocking is king for me. Defensively, I usually run a 4-3 or a 3-3-5. Still recruit pass rush OLB as specialists, but they generally aren’t playing every down. Sometimes I move them to an end spot, but I really only want them as rushers. Agree on recruiting run stopper ends and moving them to DT. I generally play zone, so I recruit zone corners. Haven’t really gotten a preference for safety archetypes yet, but mainly go for zone guys too. Only in one online league, so I mostly do this for realism/challenge vs the AI.
@biggross75 Caution: Preferably stay away from Scrambler QBs and especially Hybrid Safeties. Scramblers develop Accuracy ratings at really slow rates, and Hybrid Safeties develop EVERY ratings group at the slowest rate. If you get them, I suggest keeping their development traits, but moving to other positions.
QB: Scrambling ATH HB: Deep Threat WR WR: Deep Threat or Physical WR TE: Physical WR OT: Power or Agile OT OG: Agile ATH C: Agile ATH DT: Agile ATH DE: Power Rusher ATH OLB: Run Stopper ATH MLB: Physical ATH CB: Man to Man CB S: Physical ATH K/P: Power P
I had a 99 speed 97 throw power ATH qb dude was a beast had like 65 total tds one year won the heisman lost in the natty never thought about moving ATH qbs to RB tho
And you got that info from where? The only info on it I could find was a bunch of people on Reddit saying that they should end the Football program without actually looking into funding, and that K.C. Keeler was just hired as the new head coach. On top of that, if you knew the channel at all, the Temple rebuild is Jaden's long-term series.
Speed kills

I took a ATH tackle and make him a Te. He 6’6 280 he couldn’t break the line up Oline too good. So I made him my FB/TE. Head a beast 84 spd

I only really go after athlete players if they have the team player mental. Tend to have better caps and all
I never knew that’s thanks for this gem

Power back at RE or LE
@ I haven’t tried that yet. They kill it at OLB. Start with a low OVR but progress FAST.
Power backs are so good. In my dynasty the number 2 player is a 6-3, 239 RB and I'm using Michigan. He's a must.
Had a 6’3” 234 power back at VA Tech, won two Heismans and two nattys before he got drafted and I went to Texas. Just ended up recruiting another one at Texas so I’m hoping to implement the same system.
I don’t recruit tight ends, I recruit physical wide receivers and then switch their position
You smart. I do the same thing, had a 99 speed TE😂
How that hold up in the run?
@@puffdutchtwo still lead my league in rushing
@ I’ve done that but only as second TE run two te sets occasionally worried about it being first TE though
@@puffdutchtwo They do just fine. The speed at TE with regular recruits is awful.
I love power hb, physical wr, scrambler qb, fast and strong lineman on both sides, I love speedy athletes...easy to put somewhere else...speed kills.
This is the same personnel I use except for the WR. Physical TE is a MUST for me with my ground and pound scheme.

Moving scrambling athletes to halfback and running wildcat with them is very good

I had a ATH qb, RS freshmen year, I needed help at WR after off season workout he didnt see the field, moved him to RB, hes now a 94 RS Soph HB.

PSA: NEVER KEEP HYBRID SAFETIES AT SAFETY; THEY DEVELOP THE SLOWEST IN THE GAME BY FAR. NOT AN OPINION; THIS IS FACT.
Thank you

@@JB33210 Lol
I'm always hunting for a 220lbs plus WR for a TE.
I found a athlete possession tight end who was gem 4 star who came in with 87 speed off the bat was a problem from the slot n wide formations

bro you smart asf
Went and looked at old dynasty file and so many two way opportunities my receivers all 90 or higher but have higher ratings at db
I have this issue with vertical TEs. He has 13 skill points he cant use bc he's maxed out at 79ovr.....fucking crazy
Have you tried putting a DE or safety at LB?
I’m going with speed at every skill position period. And power back. I’m out on everything else 😂

@ his throwing was like mid 80s tho but 99 speed 99 acceleration was fun to use
