Wahoo! Another BTS! I love how amazing the image is out of the A7IV. They are truly a great hybrid camera. I have two that are for photo and video. Keep the videos coming!
Thank you sir!! 100% agreed, I love them especially because I have the option to switch to APS-C, which I enabled in this shoot since I didn't have anything longer than a 50mm.
Cool video! If it's your full-time job, how do you manage costs if the gear is yours? I am in a similar situation and have struggled to find a balance. Thanks!
Thank you! I freelance on the side, I shoot mainly corporate gigs + weddings on evenings or weekends to feed into my gear. And sometimes I take a day or two off work if it's a gig worth taking that has to be shot in the weekdays.
No I don't think I have it selected! I remember doing so while in PQ mode and it looked too crushed in comparison to how it should look, so I turned it off. I'll double check though and update you if I'm remembering it incorrectly 👌🏼
@@Dano-Media I've been shooting on an a7s since it came out into an Atomos shogun with slog and there has always been talks about how slog (when recorded externally) is messed up, when compared to the internal footage it's more contrasty and has too much saturation This can be remedied by interpreting the footage in post as a full data value instead of a limited data value, which will then make it appear to have proper contrast/saturation Atomos updated the ninjaV to add the legalize setting, which essentially fixes this within the ninjaV This is only needed when recording log, but it allows the monitor to see log properly, as when legalize is off the image on the NinjaV is also overly contrasted/saturated resulting in what looks like premature blown highlights and crushed blacks Highly recommend looking into this
@John Lee oh damn, I always thought it just had to do with previewing the image; didn't know it affected the actual recording. Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely look into this.
Hi again! Just wanted to thank you again for the legalize setting tip. It totally drove me nuts how the image was always slightly different, had no idea this setting fixed it. Thank you!
@@Dano-Media no problem! Honestly it's crazy it's not told to us by Atomos I've been using the Shogun original since it came out paired with the A7s1 since it came out and no one tells you why the external looks terrible compared to the internal I vaguely recall Sony blaming Atomos and Atomos blaming Sony Then Atomos quietly updates the ninjaV to fix it yeeeeears later It's baffling, there are quite literally thousands of shooters out there who have no idea, just shooting log externally and getting messed up log footage It even means the monitor was incorrect without that legalize setting on All exposure tools would be seeing increased contrast The image shown would have faster blown highlights/crushed blacks/boosted saturation

Just curious
Is see you use an FX3 with a ninjaV
Do you use the legalize setting when recording externally in slog?
