You need 50% for home language, 50% for math, 40% for additional language, 40% for Life Orientation, 40% in an extra subject and 30% in two extra subjects to pass. The problem is that 30% of the marks on every paper is "low standard questions", 40% is "medium standard questions" and another 30% is "high cognative questions". So, when someone scores 30% in that subject, they actually know LESS than 30% of the work as they probably just got the easy questions right.
