I always go to local stores and restaurants including the street vendors. The places you see the locals prefer usually offer good quality services for a lower price. Certain places that cater to an expat will always be higher than a local place. Sometimes you have to shop at other options cause a typical Thai doesn't purchase a certain product or food you like. I am not sure what the going price for haircuts are in Bangkok but I can get my haircut for 60 baht in the village here. Since I am balding I usually buzz cut my own hair. I can easily rock a shaved head. As for the man who didn't smile may not be a Thai person. Many foreigners move to Thailand for work not having the same values as a Thai. If he was Thai he would be considered the minority since most of them are very friendly to an expat. :)

When taking the MRT or BTS, listen to the announcements to learn the Thai pronunciation of the stations. Anywhere in the world the locals appreciate when you try to say their words properly and respect their culture. The key word is try. You (any of us) don't have to pass as a Thai, but they will appreciate the effort. Ask the locals how to say difficult words. They are happy, just as we would be when others visit our country, to see foreigners take an interest and show respect.

if all ya need is a trim down you can easily do it yoself w/ some clippers -should've gotten had them do an edge up & fade on the beard to make it look more clean and fresh & not look same as before

The thing I did while I lived in Vietnam was I never changed money in exchange shops etc, I rather go to jewelery shop and such and changed my money there they gave me way better rates too. You are not a shy guy so I think this would work for you too :D

Bro you have to learn to bring your own beard trimmers when you travel , saves you time and money, they don't take up much space in your bag either.
Here in Charlotte if you go to a Thia restaurant during lunch time they give you a soup/broth while you wait for your lunch and it looks just like the one you got no noodles just a broth and it very good 😊

There is a road named “ Jon Em Down” that connects Lake Lanier to 400 that we make fun of when ever we drive by it.
Name of each BTS or MRT station derived from the area name which derived from a person name or his/her rank ( one who either endorsed that road project or to honor him/her or to state that he/she was once lived or well-known in the area).
OMG I stayed there in that neighborhood this past December and I remember the dog. He is still there lol. I am coming back in April for Thai New Year. Hope I run into you bro.
