the last freekick although makes it look like the goalie's sold but it's not lol, it happens a lot almost in every league in the world when the curve on the ball is ridiculous enough to curl it in just at the end moment while goalies think it's going out. they always dive but sometimes take their chances lmao. also, the second last player to directly touch the ball before a goal gets the assist. eg- messi passing to suarez and suarez scoring off of it would give messi an assist.
It must be incredibly difficult to defend against an elite scorer like Messi, to the casual eye it looked funny lol. As far as the assist goes, does the shot from the second player have to be immediate? What if he dribbles a little?
@@definitelynotexperts nah, nah it don't matter how you pass, let's say messi dribbles past 4 players and then makes a pass to suarez and suarez scores, that's an assist for messi. if messi recieves a simple pass from the midfield and then passes it directly to suarez without carrying the ball forward/dribbling it past 1 or 2 players and suarez scores. it still counts as a messi assist, because he is providing the final ball for suarez. so basically, the player who provides the final ball before it goes into the net by the scorer, gets the assist. obviously there are a few complex CASES in this counting system like when the ball rebounds off the goalie or the post after a player takes as shot and then someone else scores from the rebound but that's basically for STAT NERDS TO DEAL WITH.
also, man if you watching soccer you gotta watch the two best ones out there the messi era, by magical messi (club career) messiah - a lionel messi movie, by henrick lehmann. (intl career)
@@definitelynotexperts yeah they're probably the best ones out there and yeah with both of them, commentaries in the background are super important as they will give you the right context.
