  • You may have heard about Real Ear Measurement - REM - and how important it is to properly fit hearing aids. In this video we demonstrate the process, showing you how it works.
We don't really know for sure what the hearing aids are doing without it, but REM is just the starting point of a proper hearing aid fit.

It is recommended that you perform a tube calibration whenever you change silicone test tubes on the probe. How do you do on Unity 3 device ? Is there a reference microphone for the calibration ?

There is a spot on the earpiece that the end of the tube clips into. Then you hold it in front of the speaker and run the calibration test - which is in the software.

My AUD did a real ear test on my new devices, but im switching to molds, so she did the real ear to coupler test to place the programming with the new molds. Is it that effective to do? or should I have her all re do the actual test with my aids in once my molds come in?

They may do the REM again, but they may be able to apply the test they've already done to the new molds. It sounds like they know what they're doing, so I'm sure they'll do what's necessary, but if it makes you more comfortable to have them do the test again I would think it wouldn't be a problem to ask.
