I bet those 2 jam nuts are in the oil sump from the 1 & 2 side. Also notice the engine builder used valve springs shims in the rocker assemblies. Never saw that before. Looks like some of the rocker arms have too much side to side clearance.

We haven't drained the oil yet but it would be interesting to see if they are there. I still believe that they were left off on purpose since there was absolutely no play at all.

Hi there, I do have a question???? I have 71 SB with 40 kads, exhaust, 4.1 scat ratio rockers with pre cut to length pushrods by aircooled.net, pertronix dist, 70amp alt, serpentine belt system, electric fuel pump, stock cam and crank for now but was rebuilt in the late 90's. 97k on the odo, that being said I double and triple checked my valve geo. When i set my valve lash on the HD aluminum pushrods set to .006, rotate the engine 180', some of my rockers then have an excess of .010, I then proceed to 360' now my rockers are back to .006. Is this a condition of a flat cam? all pushrods at same height, rocker shims are correct, shaft shims set to .003. Before i removed the engine she ran smooth. Im the 3rd owner and buggie is rarely driven. Thank you, Ricky

@@evilbeetlekustomscreations4965 ya, Lynn Anderson got me and Bren mixed up. Bren's car looks kinda like mine except for it is a 70. His car was built by a guy named Rudy and holds a couple of records for the Ohio mile race I think 🤔.

I'm so tired of rocker arm geometry. Makes no difference the engine. The rocker arm swipes the middle of the valve stem and then it's proper
