NGL I'm a bit disappointed with the news of it no longer being an MMO, But Im still interested in where they go with these changes. Ill circle back around to update when it goes live

MMO was a overcrowded space for them. We got Chrono odyssey, blue protocol, and throne and liberty that hasn't released.
It's not free to play. still paid on playstation. Also just seen in the tweet at 1:16 that it's still gonna be paid. I'm bit said that they are killing the severs for ps4 but it's understandable.
Not touching this now. What a bait and switch. Shameful coverage.
@@riotman3579over crowded space? Bruh we been waiting on these games for years years YEARS! Throne and liberty is only one near a western launch and the feedback from beta is 7/10 on average. Hardly ground breaking.
@@amcdonald7479 it was not bait. DE left them to rot, and without the money or raw developing capacity, they knew they couldn't maintain the servers, so they opted for a drastic change and going offline. It was the right call. You can ask for a refund if you want and they will give it to you
Honestly respect them shifting the scope of the game to keep it playable rather than have everyone's work just go into the void and be a distant memory at best or completely forgotten at worst. Also like the aspect of a one and done upfront purchase with no mtx and no required internet connection like the good old days before online only live service riddled with mtx became commonplace.
you respect them for getting people to buy a completely different game? are you dense
@@voidrendx6601 Yeah, the founder package is like 100 something dollard.
I think Airship Syndicate made the right call, and I’m looking forward to seeing how the game turns out. I just really hope they can work on Darksiders again someday.
Time will tell, but I think so. I honestly think it is a much better game now
I believe thq nardic is working on a Darksiders gane but it's not confirmed
@@ofat9082 THQNordic has published the 2 most recent games in the series, but they didn't make them. Airship Syndicate made Darksiders: Genesis, and Gunfire Games made Darksiders 3. Seeing as both of these companies have members from the original team that worked on Darksiders 1 and 2, and THQNordic were incredibly willing to put the franchise back into their hands, it's stands to reason that they would want to do the same for any future games in the franchise.
So, I bought the highest tier Founders pack for this, and I agree, that part of what I bought into, a live service/MMO-lite type experience constantly updated in the vein of Warframe, does feel bad getting pared back this hard. However, I will give them some benefit of the doubt that, let's be real...MANY "early access" games don't get repurposed into something maintainable or workable...they just get shut down outright. We get the black background jpeg tweet "something game dev is hard something something we're really sorry, thanks for the support." It says a lot about what the devs made here with Wayfinder that they were willing to significantly reduce the scope and availability in order to keep it playable, and not only that...
Making an offline mode...something that's been a HUGE pain point for, frankly, most big ticket titles these days...I feel like that's kind of a selling point. Weird, growing up in the old school console days when EVERYTHING was offline, but these days, it's different.
I think this is a brilliant move, and as long as they afford my Founder's purchase with tons of items and goodies, I'm all right with this and look forward to playing the full release! Worst case, the game gets a slow and steady influx of players wanting to try it, it builds a cult following and they work on something bigger down the road in the Wayfinder universe.
At least now, the game can live on and not tossed on the garbage pile.
Thank you so much for the support through this bumpy ride. I completely understand the frustration on losing the persistent online aspect of what was expected. Unfortunately fate had different plans for us. This was the only way we could keep Wayfinder around without disappearing like you mentioned was the fate of many other online games before us. I can assure you, the game performance is actually much much smoother without server connectivity. The gameplay has been tremendously polished even from where it stands in Live today. The grind is dramatically reduced and we hope it will be an adventure you will love to explore.
@@sir_snarf Ah, I take it you're a dev? I'll be honest, I haven't played it in a little bit, but once it gets reset and restarts on PS5, I'd love to start it up again and give it another go, looking very forward to it. It had a great vibe and feel to the gameplay. I think this change will be just the thing for it. 🥰
@@sir_snarf Hey, just wanted you to know, I played the late beta, like February or so, so for me, I always played this game solo, because I had no friends to play, and I believe it was the best game I ever played, the combat so smooth, interesting story and characters abilities, the features like power level balance and random dungeons, the weapons and combos... I know a lot of people wanted an MMO, but I can assure you, this game is so well made it will find it's audience, MMO or coop, I have two friends to hop in the game with me in June, and you tell me the game will get EVEN BETTER than it already is, I'm just so happy! thank you for all your team's beautiful work!
Anthem is a great example of this point
@intothevoid9083 It would be, had Anthem continued to be developed. For the life of me, I can't remember a single MAJOR update Anthem got to really make it shine as a game. The Tombs mission being nerfed wasn't it. Cataclysm wasn't it. Nerfing the loot rain bug TWICE, when everyone was screaming "please give us more loot" definitely wasn't it.
This seems like a major shift in what Wayfinder is. Anthem never saw that.
Seems like a smart move, instead of just letting the game die. The thing that caused them the most hardships, it being an online game; is the thing they get rid of. I will definitely check it out. Even though I don't have friends I do like monster hunting games, even if I play solo.
We appreciate your optimistic out look. If you are a fan of Borderlands or other Co-op rpgs I think you will be happy
I didn’t care that this game existed when it was an MMO but now I have June 11th marked on my calendar. This seems so much more fun to me, i love what this is turning in to and hope the best for the game and the devs
Thank you for the support
@@sir_snarf would have hated the game to die so I’m happy you guys made the change and made it a coop game 🙂
Same! It's great to know that it won't be a F2P MMO filled with predatory MTX... now i feel this is going to be a game i'll enjou greatly.
I'm a founder. In fact I'm one of the ones who chucked $150 bucks at the game. I'm no whale - I just wanted to support what looked like a fun game - one I'll play long enough for that money to feel worth it. And when everything exploded I was sad to see it, but I still had faith this game will get through these trials and tribulations and come out as a success. Of course, the fact that DE got alot of that money annoys me greatly, but we're never told of these things until it's too late. It is what it is.
But I still believe this game can succeed. Call it sunk cost fallacy or whatever but quite frankly? A single player/3 player co-op game is actually right up my alley. Heck I got 2 friends I play games with all the time that are suddenly far more interested in this game now than they were when it was an MMO. MMOs demand costant time, effort, and tons of grinding. Co-op games - not as much. So with all things considered, I feel this was the right choice. With no publisher and DE's absolutely terrible mishandling that kneecapped this game right from the start, this is I feel the best solution.
As for my Founders items, I'm happy I'll keep them. As for modders modding them in: One - AS can very easily demand such mods be taken down from Steam Workshop or Nexus Mods and so on. That's how other single player games get away with having purchasable DLC while still being moddable. And Two: while I definitely can't speak for everyone, I personally don't care all that much. I dislike exclusivity in all its forms. I paid that money to *support* the devs, not get a couple of exclusive baubles.
I feel (again, with all things considered up to this point) that Wayfinders finally has a future. Not the future we all envisioned, but at least there is one.
ashhahahahahaahahahahahah
@@tenzen839 What's so funny?
I honestly don't mind the change. The "MMO aspect" caught my interest initially, but as I progressed through the game during my first 20 or so hours, I realized I liked running almost all of the dungeons solo. The "MMO aspect" I liked was just seeing a bunch of people walking around skylight doing their own thing; it made the world seem more alive. Sure, I had a friend who also bought the game so we could play together, but we both mainly played solo and only teamed up when it came to grinding for specific materials. After passing the 600-hour mark, I did end up purchasing the highest-tier founders pack, but that was because I genuinely liked where the game was heading and playstyle. I'm just happy this game isn't getting tossed into the dumpster like other early-access games would have been. Only time will tell how long this game will last and how far it will go.
Thank you for the coverage, we will always be around to answer questions. Ultimately this isn't the path anyone would have expected, but this was the only option to keep Wayfinder around forever with DE shutting down their publishing arm. It will be up to the players to determine if this is a good decision or not, I cant think of another game that has converted from a Live service F2P into a boxed product, but there is an insane amount of content that tons of talented people poured their hearts into and we couldn't stomach that disappearing into the void like so many other games before us.
Where's my money back then? I didn't pay for a single player game.
@@NeoAstrisk good thing you still aren't getting one lol
@GrimViridian ok, I paid for a mmo. Where's my money back?
@@NeoAstrisk i think De, the publisher took the money, and now they run away. We had to see how steam work on this
@@NeoAstrisk you are cringe and a bum
No longer a MMO might be the best call. But this game needs a game play tempo change though there's too much animation feel bad in it still but if i can play on my deck is great for me. As a founder I'm not mad at adding modding.
I wouldn't call this scummy i think its a team rolling with the circumstances but better communication would be great.
Honestly doesn't even feel scummy in comparison to what usually happens when a game goes south this bad, usually you're left with a notice reading "game died, womp womp" and a digital paperweight that does nothing.
Echoes will come with a overhaul to pretty much every system... its why the progress wipe is required, the game is really apples and oranges to what it was in Live. We are working on Deck Verification as we speak and hope to see your feedback in the steam reviews
@sir_snarf I assume you're a dev or on the team so first off good luck really. That launch had no reason to be that rough and I'm not even talking about log in issues but I'm glad the team really seems to committed to make something good and if you get it running smooth on deck that'll be dope. I'm interested in seeing what y'all do for us founders who bought the higher tiers of the pack.
As for game play I say it every chance I get to give feedback the responsiveness of the game feels very lacking like a sea of molasses I really hope you all find a fix of that. It's too floaty way too much.
Asmongold just did a interview with them today I suggest looking it up
@Mckadesarcade I'll wait for them to talk to literally anyone else. But thanks for the heads up
This actually seems like a much better direction and has me pretty excited. Being able to jump into a game with no microtransactions and just be able to loot everything in the world and keep it is how gaming should be...
As a founder - yeah I'm a little sad we won't get the MMO that was promised, but I really really enjoyed the game and want it to succeed. If anything I'm disappointed with DE's mishandling more than Airship's change in direction. Especially since the money I put in was to support a game/concept/style I thought was cool. You could tell Airship really cared and it made me sad seeing all the backlash and anger from a bad launch. I'm usually a massive supporter of DE but running away from the problems and not letting the studio keep all the founder money was a really low blow. Regardless I'm happy to see the game trying to make its own future as a labor of love.
Thank you so much for the kinds words and support. We really do care... alot
I feel like most of the founders will be more than happy things turned out like this.
The game they helped fund will live on forever, free of the F2P MMO trappings.
I bought the highest tier founders pack; but I didn't initially. I bought the lowest tier originally to try out the game and then honestly loved it. AS made something cool, they're a good studio, and I earnestly prefer to support smaller companies and indie devs (which is what they are now,) So I bought the high tier pack after coming to the conclusion that it was a cause worth supporting. I don't regret that one bit; I'm happy to have helped where I can, and I'm looking forward to what they do next.
I still wish they had gone with a more traditional MMORPG with a character creator. It was what got me excited when I saw the teasers but quickly lost interest when I saw what they was going for instead. I do hope this new direction works for them but it does not seem the type of game I would play
There are over 450 armor pieces that have been converted from MTX to ingame loot with stats now. Please try for yourself, but trust me there is an insane amount of character customization now
- The shift from multiplayer to single player/co-op is so trivial. (let's be honest the multiplayer part was so minimal for this game)
- The (not so) micro transactions got removed
- All items are now available as loot (except exclusive founder items)
- only 25 asking price
I'm sad I will lose all progression but honestly there is a lot of good changes here that I'm looking forward too. Feels a lot less greedy than what we had before and more in line what they have made in the past.
I’m not a founder but this definitely has me more interested. I think there’s more potential to make this a solo/coop only game. Just remains to be seen if they have put in enough overhauls to make it work.
Its actually interesting to think about, in the far future where Warframe's development to an extent is finished and they did the same thing as this. Selling the full game as a single player/ coop game to immortalize the game while also keeping the things you payed for as ingame cosmetics you can still keep. I always had this though on how warframe would look if the game is not being actively supported on anymore.
The only reason why Warframe is as good as it is, is *because* it has been actively evolving for the past 11+ years... Warframe would have no players within a year if they did this.
Honestly, the news is a little bit sad...but if we're being realistic, they're options moving forward were probably between making this kind of shift or cancelling the game entirely so I am glad that we will still get to play this game in some sort of capacity
The main problem are the refunds for the angry mob which to be fair makes sense as to why they are angry. I love Warframe but I feel like DE will receive flak if they don't at least help Airship Syndicate on the refunds since they are the ones that handled the money from the packs (granted we don't know their agreement on the separation).
This is awesome news to me! I used to love World of Warcraft and other MMOs but these days I only have enough free time to play a couple of hours of a single player games on my steam deck. Yet I still miss that MMO feel and having that in a game that's good as a single player would be amazing! Do we know yet if it'll be possible play entirely offline?
Yes
I mean I am glad they aren't giving up on the game but that change in direction is pretty harsh. I wish they would have kept some online functionality because the MMO-Lite aspect was a big selling point.
If in the future they do make an mmo out of this I believe they should honor in some way the founders
Now, if only they could be honest about the refund policy... I could justify giving this game another shot IF refunds were allowed, which isn't the case now so I just feel like my money just went into the nether.
Is there any info on what happens with the on going battle pass? Will I be automatically given all the stuff in it when shifts over to the new structure? Will the stuff that was in it still be acquirable through other means if that isn’t the case?
I am more than happy to hear about this. A wee bit miffed for the people who bought the big packs, but thats a risk for early access.
I'm actually really happy for this change, I hope this will make the gameplay more reactive and with less latency since that was one of the mayor issues too. I can see why many people may be furious specially after spending hundreds of hours but I put in about 50 hrs and am looking forward to this
As a highest tier founder im excited to see how the rework is gonna play.
It becoming a locally saved game kinda removes alot of the worth of rare drops in a grind game since stuff like droprates can be edited in files...
And the most anoying part is AS devs claiming the founder pack item compensations is going to be exclusive which is straight up lying since all of that will be editable in savefiles aswell.
I'd be willing to give this a chance. i didn't really sink a lot of time into the game because i had a bug that stopped my progress. i'll jump back into this after they revamp it.
Itll be a whole new experience
@@sir_snarf that’s what I’m excited for
Dude I completely forgot this game existed.
I agree with and this game was suppose to be free after 6 months I don’t think I’m gonna spend my money on it
Dodged that bullet phew. Almost bought the founder pack and pre-ordered.
That's disappointing news. I paid for the most expensive founder's pack, and was super excited for the future of the game.
Same here.
If I cant get a refund in Wayfinder I'll take credits in Warframe of equal value
@@ThinkTank541 DE dropped them and kept the money, you ain't getting shit ;))
I reckon they made the right call. Instead of abandoning the game completely, reworking it into something players can still (hopefully) seems that the devs had genuine passion for their game. On a pure selfish note, this is great news for me, I love the style and the game play I saw so now its gonna be offline solo (My preferred gaming mode) it's gonna be a buy for me
If I could get a refund at this point I think I would. The game reached a point where it was unplayable for me. Struggled to do a boss so hard that I spent like 47 attempts trying to do it, the one to unlock the other zone. Had to cheese it to do it. I had chose Niss as my character and perhaps that was like choosing hard mode cause I'm not that good at dodging out of things and not taking damage. I finally reached a point of no return where I finally quit. I think I tried to do other characters, I had been liking Venomess but her lacking damage compared to Niss was always a bit of a bummer to me. It feels like I spent so much time leveling stuff or trying to get it leveled, where that grind burned me out too.
It was easy to see that the game launched too early and needed more time in development. I'm not sure how I feel about the changes as it is so drastic. On the one hand I like to see them taking this kind of approach. Though it does seem like they are already end of life the game and just pushing out the content that they have. On the other hand, yeah I bought into Founder's for a potential Warframe like game. Sucks that will not happen now but to be fair I was already done with the game
Does this mean that after release they are not going to add new content or is it going to be dlc/expansion based?
It sounds like it will be a lot like how Outriders works. Of course that game had the benefit of being built specifically for that format. It will be interesting to see how this game evolves in its new form.
I dig this. I was okay with the game before, but this honestly seems like a shift in the right direction... into something I'm not just 'okay with', but something I'm going to like.
As someone who bought into the highest founder tier at launch, I'm excited for these changes. I will miss public lobbies, but hopefully the game will be better because of it. The hardest part of the game was the grind, I spent hundreds of hours getting all weapons to level 30. So if they drastically reduce that, I'll be happy.
Will this really help? It hovers at like 20 players average...
I'm gong to wait and see. I did like the MMO style and was sold on that, but maybe change is good in this case.
So when they say they’re doing a progress wipe then like do we lose everything we got up to this point? Like our weapons and Wayfinders?
Could someone clarify what the gameplay loop is like? Is it open world? Level to level? Hub/mission based?
No one knows yet what the loop changes are
@@TacticalPotato oh I just meant in general. This is the first I’m even seeing of this game so was just curious what it’s like. Looks fun.
Biggest issue I have ( as a founder) is not even necessarily the shift in direction. But abandoning matchmaking/pubs AND dropping Crossplay (and any presumable Cross-save). Crossplay particularly immediately toasts the actual group I was playing with.
It is still a seismic shift in direction and I can see the point of the folks who would want refunds based on that. Its certainly a bigger shift then even most Early Acesses ever go through (or even the shift in No Mans Sky over time).
But yeah the big one is completely dropping matchmaking and crossplay for single player or friends only. (Also I'd slightly question the games balance, because well, Warframe vets we all know that if something is soloable its basically trivial)
Also yeah, being moddable and all, the skins and exclusives that people paid for with actual money (founders pack or otherwise) are basically dust in the wind in terms of value.
Airship themselves is saying they can't do anything for refunds because DE Publishing (which I'm not sure has a direct correlation with the DE Studio (similar to Coffee Stain (DRG) vs Coffee Stain Publishing) has the money and not them. Playstation won't refund it because its been more then 14 days and asks to contact the nonexistent publisher.
If all things being said are to be believed, that means DE (or DE's Publishing Arm, or Tencent or whoever owns the rights) is holding onto millions of dollars fed into an undelivered product and basically abandoned the team who actually did the work without a single cent of it. Which I can't imagine being the complete case, or there'd be some gigantic legal issue going on.
Remnant have matchmaking, DRG... Gunfire Reborn... Roboquest... Aliens Fireteam Elite... so on and so forth
Saying it won't have matchmaking make Airship Syndicate looks really REALLY bad, and match up some people who said they are incompetent of what they were doing.
The right tihng to do would be refund those who paid $100^up founders, which I doubt they would do it sincerely.
In game currency? for a single player game? Skin? for a moddable game?
Anyone who brought the game should contact Steam ASAP, and hope Steam would do something about it.
@@dr.wiggler Yeah I'm not sure how you can expect to launch an MP game of any note in 2024 and not have matchmaking and crossplay (Remnant took awhile but did get there)
the last co-op I remember without matchmaking was Shadow Warrior 2 way back in 2017. And the only multiplayer game of recent memory that was on multiple platforms without crossplay I can think of was BG3 (partially because of the weirdly altered console version maybe isnt strictly an identical game)
I just hope they will have loads of nice and fresh ideas to build the game. I will be jumping into it on 31st, kida sad i invested into the founders pack.
I also think the negative steam reviews are something you can't recover from, so hopefully people will review this offline experience as the true Wayfinder experience instead of review bombing over queue times (which is a legitimate complaint in an early access title but nobody's updating their review for that.)
If this had been announced as a co-op action adventure like let’s say a co-op Darksiders I feel it would be all fine and dandy. Problem is most of us were looking forward to play this with other people and explore an entire new universe with new characters.
That’s no longer the case and my problem is, if you can finish the entire game with only one character (leveling up, upgrade, cosmetic and whatnot) what’s the point of doing everything again with the other characters?! Are they gonna have different stories, boss encounters or even unlock new areas?! If so, it could be a nice workaround for most but I feel this game could benefit either from controlling multiple characters at once (say like genshin) or having some update like Diablo Rifts were you could come together with other high level players and have a Dungeon to explore of sorts.
As is… feels like a small slice of the big dream we all had for it and that just makes me sad!
Can i at least summon teammates tho? Like how i can do it in warframe?
Honestly on PS5. I rarely saw ppl. Rarely got a group. It already seemed like a single player.
Almost every video I've seen of this game, fron launch to about a month ago has always been someone playing the game solo.
Right around launch I'd see people playing together but it seems like the social aspect very quickly fell off.
So do I have to repurchase it after I bought the founders pack ?
No
They are just try to get some easy cash for a sinking ship...
Probably for the best.
Single player action games are less complex to make and deliver a more straightforward experience.
Maybe it can be more like Darksiders, the CEO's first game he ever made.
they need to have the option for refunds i meen dam some paid $150 for the big pack,
I don’t mind the changes. I just want it to release
dear… this is rough and rather depressing.
I think this is the best case we can expect. Not what I wanted, but I'm glad to be getting a game rather than just being shunted to a corner and forgotten. I founded the original vision on PS, and I'll be buying echoes when it comes out for the xbox. The only addendum I'm make to this video is DE didn't abandon Wayfinder, they abandoned the concept of publishing as a whole.
Maybe they should release it on game pass and playstation game catalogue that maybe would help to build a player base and make it alittle easier to swallow.
They made a great desicion here with Wayfinder.
It seems like they kinda got screwed by DE. The game didn't seem terribly interesting in early access, but the fucked up initial launch basically killed it.
I love a good MMO and I am also a VERY big supporter of single player games. I can completely understand how a Founder would be upset to find the game they supported had suddenly changed direction so radically. I might feel the same in that situation. But I am very curious to see where this goes and I will be checking out the game at new launch. Good luck to all involved!
Honestly this don't look too bad I'ma keep an eye on it
I wasn't really going to even try it. I don't need another online game to take up my time. But now that it's different I might try it.
what about raids? think they will still have them?
I enjoyed battle chasers, dark siders and ruined king. Pretty sure I'll enjoy this one too, matter fact, it was the MMO label that made me worried 😅
as people buy the game they probably will release more features
keeping on account of sony and helldiver 2 situation.. its much better and reasonable to move away from MMO style. also current developers have much better experience in non-MMO game (example darksiders iirc)
but if this game explodes, or received good feedback, then its worth risk going for next game as MMO
DE and airship syndicate should both hold their hands up here and admit they made a right pigs ear of it and offer founders refunds, that would be the decent thing to do but it won't happen. The change of direction could work out but the lack of accountability shown by both companies is extremely poor.
I think if they can pull it off it will be a pretty cool game
I honestly hope they do pull it off but time will tell
Styling it after a game like Remnant seems like a really good change to me. I watched some people play the beta, and it just didn't feel like it needs to be an MMO, even if it's nice to see other people running around.
like most im a bit sad i can't see people running around but at the same time its certainly not a requirement and if this lets the game run better and lets the devs focus on more and better content to play through then i am all for it. at least we can still play together in coop, and i look forward to seeing where they take it.
I fully agree with you on the scumminess of it. I was so hyped for the mmo and got the Exalted pack to help support the devs and to make the game a reality. And now I look at the new model and I ask myself “would I spend $150 on this single player rpg?” And the answer is a resounding no, and with the promises being cancelled with no grantee that we’ll ever get the “true” Wayfinder, along with not being able to get any form of refund seems scummy at best, and Overwatch 2 levels of stupidity at worst.
Now do I say all this against Airship or anyone behind Wayfinder? Absolutely not, and I do honestly hope they can recover from this, and turn this into an amazing single player RPG. And I do think this was the best course of action for the company & project as a whole. And who knows? Maybe we will see the “true” Wayfinder some time down the line. Especially if this does well. And if anyone @ Airship reads this, just know I wish absolutely no harm or misfortune upon any of you. And I don’t want this to seem like I’m whining about the change. I’m just disappointed.
As a founder i have to buy the game again??
I hope they're offering refunds eventually, because I bought it for the MMO aspect. So if that aspect is gone, I got a product that wasn't what it was advertised as when I made my purchase. I don't know the legality of that, but I definitely hope they start giving people their money back in the same camp of myself.
Well, didnt expected this. Love the game and I Just want to see at least people on the main hub. However I tjought we could have what we had but fixed instead of a solo game, I dont have friends interesed on this game so I now have 0 opportunity to enjoy it more cause they Will not buy it now not being f2p. Wish we can be connected with online alternatives. If I wanred a sólo game I would Esther go buy Darksiders as I know in going to buy it to enjoy the art, narrative and knowing km gonna face challenges in solo. Started as Niss and not used to some action combat mechanics, managed to be a médium level player in warframe but still carried by others in many types of content. I dont know how to feel about Wayfinder.
This will ultimately lead to a better experience for the players. This game + issues EVERY mmo has had and will have does not make a good fit.
I jumped into this when it was first available and to be honest, It reminded Me a little of when Anthem came out - you could just feel it wasn't working. Felt real MMO 101 paint by numbers in its game design, and you could just feel the grind that was ahead. I was hoping that at launch it was going to fix its issues, but know that even Blizzard with all its resources and experiences routinely stuff that up, I was not surprised when Wayfinder had a disastrous launch.
I will be curious to see what it has morphed into now, but very few games survive being morphed into something else - though two spring to mind - Fortnite and No Man's Sky.
Here's hoping it does well. There's too many studios being closed as is right now.
Мне впринципе никогда не нравилось ммо, кооп направленность как варфрейм, дестини , бордерендс звучит более разумной и я крайнк рад, что вы пошли по этому пути. (Еще бы локализацию, было бы вообще отлично)
I love the change. I dont want to keep paying for crap over and over just to play. I played most of the game solo and had fun anyway. Im excited to see the complete game
Since I got the max founder do I have to pay for it again
No, you will have it all in Match 31 in the soft launch, if you are a max founder, you will probably (they're having conversations about it) get acess to future DLC's too
Well I never really liked games that promised to be online-only(rental if you know what I mean), so it is more good than it is bad because I'm sure nothing lasts forever...
Yet, even though it does last quite well...with monetary issues as another factor, I think this whole MMO trend was always a bit too risky, especially for fresh games.
Hence it is good to hear they have a backup plan rather than a full-on MMO.
It is my hope that they at least continue to drop content for the game, similar to what No Mans Sky does. Despite being an open world survival, and having singleplayer, NMS continues to get massive content updates multiple times a year, every year.
Should Wayfinder follow that kind of post launch support, ie: a live service model without requiring online service, I'm totally okay with the changes. I just don't want this to be a one and done playthrough kind of game.
Sounds like a change i will love
Seems scummy at first but honestly, it could be worse, you could not have a game to play at all. This shift was 100% due to the game not having a playerbase to support a online game going forward. Maybe this switch will save them and we will see a future for Wayfinders.
This same thing happened to Torchlight 3 and pagan online. I wonder how those games coming along right now?😏🤔🤔🤔
Honestly this was probably the best possible outcome we could have gotten out of this for Wayfinder. Does it suck Wayfinder is no longer the genre of game people opted into originally. Absolutely, it just is what it is of course it sucks. HOWEVER generally this shift in direction I feel is ultimately better for the health of the game. First of all Airship Syndicate clearly did not have the experience or man power to properly run an MMO. That's obviously why they seeked a publisher among other reasons like ad campaigning. Secondly the game going single player is infinitely better then it just being scrapped all together. THAT would have trully wasted people's money. At least now people can still play the fucking game. Most studios would have just said fuck it and deleted the game never to be seen again. After people wasted however much money they spent to get into the early access originally. But Airship Syndicate instead took the hard option, and is at least making the game playable in some way. That's more then I can say 90% of studios would even consider let alone actually go through with.
Making the decision to go with this major shift in direction took balls. I can only imagine how fucking scary it was, as a small indie studio. To be so upfront with consumers in the way Airship Syndicate was when they announced this shift in direction. The internet can be crazy, and vindictive at the best of times let alone for situations like this. I hope this shift in direction goes well for Airship Syndicate.
This is just them taking the money and run, leaving the game on maintenance mode.
Ima $150 founder, got the exclusive wayfinder and all...pretty pissed that this is finna be pretty much a brand new game i didnt pay for...online wit others is how i enjoyed the game when i played it...i didnt spend that much to play a single player game
This is the best news , I I’m actually gonna play it now
i wish EA done the same with anthem
At the end of the day it sucks, but Digital Extremes got ALL the money from Wayfinder Founder's Packs as the game did not meet it's recoup to start paying Airship Syndicate anything.
The choice to either let the game die and all Founder's Packs become worthless or release the game as a buy to play solo with co-op and give the original Founder's something instead of nothing to show for their investment in the IP is commendable by Airship Syndicate.
Airship Syndicate obviously value this IP as they would have otherwise let it die and moved on to another project. This is making the best of a bad situation, recall that all the server and connectivity issues were with their publisher Digital Extreme whose job it was to supply and maintain the server infrastructure for the game and NOT the developer Airship Syndicate.
Losing all my progress feels really bad.
I'm sad it'll no longer be an mmo but I love remnant, so I guess I'll see how it'll be. Although the whole founders and price thing does seem kinda scummy... being one of the founders
On one hand, I’m disappointed because the promise is not what we get. BUT, I was already disappointed to see Airship Syndicate go for a live service game while I would rather see them working on something closer to Darksiders (I know they don’t own the rights to the IP but I mean gameplay wise).
So, I’ll check the game on launch and will wait for their next one
Good for them! There's no good reason to be making always online games. If only I could get an offline, up front price for Path of Exile, that would be superb.
Honestly I think this is one of the best changes they could have made.
The game was failing pretty hard as it was, the market is oversaturated and this now being a complete package is a vastly more appealing investment.
I was interested in Wayfinder as a fan of MMO's but it stood no chance against all the other big hitters out there, but now that they have changed it, I'll 110% be picking it up.
I actually like the idea of this, but if there’s no matchmaking on launch it’s a massive L, they’re missing out on a lot of players potential to stick around.
I'm still holding on to it being my final opinion until the SkillUp interview this Friday, but I hold DE almost solely responsible for the bad launch and even more so for abandoning AS as their publisher. I played during the beta and while it was buggy as hell, it didn't have those networking issues which was an oversight on the publisher for not accounting for player interest.
personally always wanted it to be like remnant from the ashes it just fits better for this game in my opinion the no matchmaking is a problem, love your accident btw
LETS GO IM ALL IN FOR THIS
I followed the game since rumors started spreading around, but completely lost interest when I saw that it was going to be an old fashioned MMO since it's not my genre at all.
Now that it will be converted into a coop I'm definetely more interested and I will keep an eye out, but for the people who where interested originally this must really be a sucker punch.
I'm actaully pretty excited for this, A single player, Hack-n-Slash Looter-Shooter with unique looking items and armor and can be played on the Steamdeck. Definitely gonna check it out the 31st.
I like the new idea, but not for 150 bucks. At that amount, I now feel simply scammed.
i mean.. u just pay 150 bucks for play this game.. kinda deserved, im sorry
