Phil Donahue and Mike Douglas put the daytime talk show genre on the map. There are no daytime talk shows without these legends. Oprah Winfrey is right there too.
This was the final year if the longest running talk show The Phil Donahue Show As WNBC knocked out of the program schedule til September of 1996 before Phil Donahue Took The Final Bow 2 Weeks Later. Phil Donahue was 88 years old.

Wow! For me this is the nostalgic sound of the early 90s. Love it. Sorry, I can't even remember what Oprah's or Sally's theme music sounded like....but I know for sure Donahue's music is the BEST.
Couldn’t believe it when I heard this, I was living in NY and Chicago in the early to mid 90s and always wanted to go to a taping of the show and was always too busy working! I met Phil once and he was absolutely charming and happy to talk
Rest In Peace Phil Donahue 😢🕊 You were a pioneer in daytime television. I watched your show every day. I was so proud when you were taping your show in my hometown Chicago. And then you moved on to the Big Apple New York. You will never be forgotten.🤍

RIP. No television personality on American television ever delighted and educated the public more. In this day of bias, twisted information, carefully curated "facts," and the careful non-reporting of critical information, people like Donahue are just nowhere to be found.
THink the one from the 70's showing footage of Chicago with the title swirling around was the best. Should have been kept though it wouldn't sounded out of place later on.
@@alexshatner3907 it is a really heartearming theme and so fitting for the clever lede that Donahue was. I love Donahue and the way he hosted his show. So well spoken and just gripping. He just drew sighters in.
