Is there a way to group files by type, sort them by name but keeping folders at the top?
Sorry for the late reply.
Yes, it's absolutely possible.
1. First bring up the folders to the top by Left clicking on the Name Column Heading (Or do a SHIFT + Left Click)
2. Then Left-click on the Type Column Heading.
3. It most likely will default to what you are looking for (ascending names). (Grouped by type, sorted by ascending names, with the folders at the top)
But if it does not then Shift + Left Click on the Name Column Heading. This should sort the files by name in ascending or descending order. If it's in descending order then Shift + Left Click once more on the Name Column Heading to change it to ascending order.
It should work.
But if it does not.
Then RESET the "folder view" & close File Explorer, reopen File Explorer & try the above three steps again.
To RESET the "folder view" do the following :
Click on the View tab -> Options -> Change folder & Search options
That will open the "Folder Options" pop-up window
Click on the View tab -> Reset Folders -> Apply -> OK
Thank you

That will bring up the Folder Options pop-up window
Click on the View tab -> Apply to Folders -> Apply -> OK
And then Close File Explorer and reopen it.
