trust me, I've been in that musical and first I thought oh, cool, the screen with the fire is quite nice. but after I actually FELT the heat after she lit the stairs on fire I was so shocked that they used REAL FIRE on stage! it made you even more aware of how dangerous and insane mrs danvers was. my mouth was wide open at that point 😅
Yes it is dangerous, but how it works when the fire climbs the stairs, the gas petals that light the flames get smaller and stop at a certain point so it stops before it can reach the actress
It makes me sad that this musical has seen so many difficulties being presented to the English speaking countries of the world, especially America and Broadway. This looks like an enjoyably gothic, melodramatic experience. With Phantom no longer on Broadway this would be the perfect musical to replace the void Phantom left.
I wish I could see this live. That ending is insane! Terrifying with real fire but amazing! That is amazing direction and crew to make sure it all goes well without actually harming the actor.
I just saw it and it's unbelievable. All the feels - but no worries, they have the fire department in the side stage and they are really experienced. Bodyguard has fire too, nearly fried my face but it was great. Rebecca is something else though. Never thought it would get to me like that.
