what about LED version ?
can I just cut off the "5W" pins which are the 2 closer to the center & it will function like a 7440 where light comes on ONLY when I brake ?
can I also instead of cut the pins .... just seal them off so I can reuse a 7443 when I change my mind ?

For t20 brake is 7443 ( 4 pins) not 7440 ( 2 pins) .
Theoritically, what you mentioned is correct. But there will be no lights if it isn't braking if you need it as a tail light.

Is the 7443 double contact led can be repaired? Cause mine has 1 pin broken it still works but only when you stepped on the brakes

If 1 pin is broken off from the solder, it can still be repaired. Take out the base socket and try solder the pin back to the connection point will do.

Straighten the pin. Pull the base socket out. It's hard because it's being glued

For halogen 7443, u can use it on halogen 7440. But for led 7443, u need to trim 1 side of the pin off to function better for led 7440 to prevent short circuit

It will not work as 7440 is single pin bulb.

Wonder if 7440 led bulb can work on a 7443 socket
