- Hello Everyone! I finally joined the Le Creuset 5 Qt. Braiser club. In this video I wanted to open it alongside my 3.5 qt to see how much difference there was between them and I must say I am impressed with the color and the size. I have left the link in the description below for your convenience. I hope you find this video helpful and please like, comment and subscribe. Thank you for watching!

I agree... just do yourself a favor and get the 5 QT. It's better to have the space and not need it than need it and not have it. Even with two of us, we use the 5QT all the time!! Thanks for the review!
I totally agree Amber, It's just better to start with the larger size! Thank you for watching!
Amber….I just got the 5 QT braiser and I’m second-guessing myself that I should’ve gotten the 3.5 QT instead. But you say you love your 5 QT??
This is exactly what I wanted to see - a side by side comparison - thank. I've had a 3.5qt for close to 15 years and trying to determine if a 5qt would be a useful addition.
I am so glad you found it helpful! I have two 3.5 qt braisers and found the 5qt to be a great addition when cooking for larger crowds.
Dang, that Chambray with gold lid knob is gorgeous! Thank you for this video! I went to the Williams-Sonoma store over the weekend to see these in person. I’m going to go with the 3.5 qrt in Nectar. Just fell in love with that vibrant color. 😄
I have a few pieces in the color Nectar and they are just gorgeous and so bright and cheerful!
That chambray color is absolutely gorgeous! 😍
Isn't though!!! In person it is just as lovely as on the site.
I still think I will go with the 3.5 qt because it is only me and my boyfriend most of the time. But this has been so helpful letting me understand the size difference. Love the chambray color w gold lid also, great choice.
Hi Caesar! I think the 3.5 braiser makes a great choice. I purchased two before in that size before trying out the 5qt size. The 3.5 is perfect for two or up to six people and it is very versatile! Happy Cooking!
I agree, that gold handle with the dark blue is really regal looking. Thanks for sharing! Love your videos!
Thank you Slow Down Cooking and thank you for watching!!! I agree the color is absolutely gorgeous and the handle just makes the color really stand out!
Hi, I am an unskilled cook, water boiler, live solo, and recently purchased a 2.5 quart french oven after watching one of your very interesting videos. I can't wait to get it. Conversely, I want to send a 5 quart braiser gift to someone who could use it. This video helped to determine that because I was strongly considering the 3.5 quart. Nice work.
Thank you Carl for your kind words!! I think the 2.5 qt French oven is a great buy. You can use it for just about anything. You won't be disappointed!!! The Braiser is an awesome gift, I am sure they will use it almost everyday!!! Thank you for watching!!!
Remember that you cannot forget about it while you’re heating up in the stovetop. The enamel will crack and that is the end of it.
@@camatis9661 Thank you for this tip, I will definitely share this!
Thank you thank you!! Ive been looking for a side by side comparison of the sizes and also the chambray in real life.
Oh I am so happy it was helpful! Chambray is a gorgeous color!
That side by side comparison helped me a lot. Thank you! Depending on how many people you are cooking for will determine which one to get I would think. Also size and weight could be a factor. For example, empty nesters and retirees (of which I am soon to be). The 3 1/2 qt size is just right. I saw the Le Creuset braisers at my local ACE Hardware. That 5 qt braiser is quite big. It's so wide! Keep in mind you have to store it somewhere. After looking at these I decided to go with the Lodge 3 1/2" braiser. it's not as expensive as Le Creuset but for me it does cook quite well.
What an awesome choice, I am a huge fan of traditional cast iron. we also have the Lodge cast iron 3-1/2 braiser it works really well and I like that it has the dark traditional cast iron interior that withstand more heat. Thank you so much for watching and for the wonderful feedback, Happy Holidays!
Yes. I have the 5 quart braiser in Marine. The blue colour has been discontinued. Your chambray is beautiful. I always love that shade in anything: fabric, clothes, and now cookware! I hope they keep it around for awhile and in other products, like the bakeware. Marine did not last that long.
I totally agree with you in hoping they keep the color chambray around for a while. Currently, I am hoping they restock the signature oval baking dish in the same color. Happy Cooking!
@@karenandmaya8329 Whoops! I was looking at that one too. I have no bakeware from Le Creuset; which would be very elegant. Also, I would LOVE IT if they came out with dinnerware in Chambray. It would be too much!
@@hopflowero6664 The color Chambray in dinnerware would be fabulous, because you could use and dress that color up year round!!! Great idea!!!
Yay!!! Been searching for a comparison review like this!! Ty!!
Hi Nchung, you are so welcome!!
5 quart looks gorge i'm sold.
LOL, Yay!!!🥳🥳🥳
Thank you for this comparison video. Helps me decide which size I want to purchase. More power to your channel 😊
Thank you!!!!
Thank you. I too was looking for a comparison video.
No problem!!! Thank you for watching!!
I noticed that in one of your replies you plan to use it for a soup of some sort. That would be best saved for your deep oven or stock pot. Braisers have a great surface area which makes them reduce and evaporate liquids; like for a thick sauce. I have made braised short ribs in mine, and they were superb.
Good tip! Thank you so much! Feel free to share your braised rib recipe!! :) Happy Holidays!!
@@karenandmaya8329 Actually, it is a Le Creuset recipe that can be found here: ruclips.net/video/BGtQUemVDaw/видео.html
@@hopflowero6664 Awesome, I will have to try it!!! Thank you!
I just saw your Le Creuset Noel Snowflake give away. Now, if it were the Chambray I would say count me in. You two are adorable!
Hahahahahaha!!!!
This video was very helpful! We have a family of 5 and I bought the 3.5 thinking it would be enough… never thought of making extra for leftovers 😅 so now we are sizing up, I wish I would have started with the 5qt!
The 5qt Braiser is so worth it especially when cooking for 5 or more. Will you choose from one of the new Autumn colors?
@@karenandmaya8329 it’s a hard choice, I was looking to get a pink one because I have gone the rainbow route (so I could have more of all the fun colors) but the Chambray will probably be the one! Gorgeous!
@@S58885 Chambray was my 2021 favorite color for Le Creuset!!
🤩 So exciting to see you gave it a go. Notifications on to catch the first video on using it.
Hahahahaha Thanks Maryam!!!!! lol
Great comparison. I purchased the 5qt but haven’t used it yet. However, after receiving it… I also went ahead and purchased the 2.25 for everyday. I haven’t received it yet but I’m anxious to see the size in person.
I just used the 5 qt today and it is a very generous size. Please feel free to let me know how you like the 2.2 size braiser!
Thanks for sharing the Chambray color, it is so pretty!
Thank you for watching Brittany!
Hey there! I see you purchased and happy about it. Congrats and happy cooking! I’m using my 5Qt for the first time on thanksgiving. I’m making smothered smoked turkey wings. Yummy!! Get in my belly!!! Lol!
Hi LaShante!!! Smothered smoked turkey wings sounds so good!!!!! Be sure to share the recipe!!!!! Happy cooking!!!
Hi, how many turkey wings fit in your 5qt. Braiser?
Love it. Thank you for sharing
Thank you for watching!!
I got the 3 1/2 at satause in chambray. I love it. Use it almost every day. I want the five quart braiser.
Hi Michelle! I agree the sauteuse is such a handy pot to have on hand and definitely I can say the 5 qt braiser is worth the money!!!
You got iiiiit!! Thank you for the comparison!! 😀❤🙌
Hi Elizabeth! I am so glad you like it! I'm having a great time testing it out!
@@karenandmaya8329 Looking forward to your videos cooking with it. They're so helpful.
@@paxintegrityelizabethstoia8443 Awww Thank you so much!!!!
Thank you!
Thank you for watching!
That's a lovely color.
Thank you Amina!
The chambray color is beautiful
I totally agree Chantel. I thought it would be a bit muted once it arrived but it looks just like it does on the site.
@@karenandmaya8329 yes, it had a beautiful color to it
@@chantelgreig921 I hope it will be a color they keep around for a while.
Such a pretty colour :D
Hi MumuMa, thank you!!!!!
What color is the smaller braiser?
Hi BT, the smaller Braiser is Cool Mint!
@@karenandmaya8329 Thanks Karen and Maya!
I am in the process of making a RUclips channel and I will share my Le Creuset collection.
But I still like looking at other people’s collections :D
@@aquaphoenixx Awesome!!!
What is going to be your inaugural dish to make in your new braiser?
Hi Daniel!! I am going to try and see if it can hold a full soup. The base of it is very wide and the sides are a lot higher than the 3.5 braiser.
@@karenandmaya8329 Hopefully you post a video of this. I would like to see how it turns out.
@@dback68 Sure thing!
What’s the internal measurement of the surface/cooking area of the two different sizes?
Hello Eric, the 5 qt Braiser has 12' in diameter of internal cooking surface as opposed to the 3.5qt having an internal cooking surface of 10' in diameter. Hope that was helpful.
@@karenandmaya8329 thank you so much! I wanted a 12” diameter so that solves it!
@@erichorning662 Wonderful!!! Happy Holidays!!!
The 5 Quart looks much bigger. Unfortunately we do not have it in Europe even though Le Creuset is a French company.
Hi BT, the 5 qt. is a lot bigger, actually more than what I thought it would be. But I wonder why they don't sell it where you are. Hmmmm
@@karenandmaya8329 I also wonder.
What I noticed is that Braisers in Europe are very rarely on sale or on a good sale.
So they either A) Sell very well or B) Don’t sell well
In both cases adding the 5 Quart Braiser would be beneficial lol
@@aquaphoenixx I agree, when we lived in Germany I rarely if ever remember seeing the Le Creuset Braisers on sale. Like you I think they likely sale really well without the drop in price. I might have to look into it, :)
@@karenandmaya8329 I am a Bulgarian living in Bulgaria.
We do not have an official Le Creuset store, so I can not see the items beforehand in the real world (the QVC RUclips channel helps lol) and I have to order them online.
Because Bulgaria is part of the EU I check Germany, France etc bit I found the best prices in Italy. Both the Italian Amazon and one Italian online shop have better prices in general.
And the Italian online shop has braised with a good discount so this year I am getting a braiser! Yay!
@@aquaphoenixx Oh I am so excited for you!!! What color braiser did you choose? I did not know it was that difficult.
Can you fry an egg in this without sticking?
Hi there, I always add a bit of oil/butter just to make sure it doesn't stick.
Ohh you got the 5qt braised!! I have the 5qt braiser in fig 💕 it’s so great to connect with you on RUclips and hopefully support one another!
Chantel we should do a Le Creuset Collab one day!!! :)
@@karenandmaya8329 oh my goodness that is a great idea, we could do a recipe in our braiser!
@@chantelgreig921 That sounds like a great idea!
I just roasted a whole chicken + potatoes in mine! I know y’all don’t eat meat, but just for size comparison 🤩
Brittany this braiser is huge! I was thinking someone could get a whole chicken in the braiser without any issues!
How long did you roast it for and what temperature?
@@chantelgreig921 if you have a whole chicken I would likely roast it for about 1 an hour and 15 minutes @350 degrees. My oldest daughter eats chicken and I cook for her when I know she is stopping by, :) Don't forget to add those potatoes! ;)
@@karenandmaya8329 ohh okay that is good to know! Thank you & do you just add the potatoes to the side of the pan, or wrap them?
@@chantelgreig921 you can add the potatoes to the pan and they will be cooked alongside the chicken.
