Arriving at Sector C, Freeman suits up in his HEV suit and prepares for an experiment involving a Xen crystal. The laboratory is calm, everything seems routine. However, during the test, the Xen crystal reacts violently, releasing an overwhelming surge of energy. Suddenly, a catastrophic resonance cascade occurs, causing massive explosions and tearing apart the fabric of reality. Aliens from another dimension flood into the facility, wreaking havoc.
