Hi Chris, Thanks for the valuable information :) , i have some doubts as below please help me to understand when UE connected to LTE network and trying to communicate with external network like IMS . 1-Does SIP signalling works over the GTPv2 ? 2-Default bearer QCI=9 uses GTPv2 and didicated bearer uses GTPv1?
Hi Chris, as I type its 2022 so this video is a bit long in the tooth. My question would be is it 'all sorted out' now in mixed UMTS/LTE networks with mixed usage nodes like a GGSN+PGW that would have to deal with both GTP flavours...? Are there any differences between UMTS GTP User Plane v1 in 29.060 and LTE GTP User Plane in 29.281? -Noted from 29.281: “This definition ensures full backwards compatibility with RNC, SGSN and GGSN implementations according to release7 of 3GPP TS 29.060”")
In 2G/3G (GRPR/UMTS) GTP-C (control) v1 and GTP-U (user plane) v1 were created. When LTE was designed in 2008 (Rel-8), there were significant differences in the signaling concepts, especially QoS and PDP contexts became EPS bearers. This required significant changes to control plane signaling and GTP-C v2 was created. However, for user-plane nothing changed (UPD tunneling with tunnel-identifiers are used) and hence GTP-U v1 is continued to be used.
Dude, no matter waht religion you are, bless you dude, you're saving my time

Very informative ! please Keep posting more on LTE w.r.to GTP in detail.

What is the reason to have different v2 for Control and V1 for user plane? What is the need to have different versions?

gtp loss in my endobe , due to this my user throughout is not good , so how I can remove this loss.
@@sharadsontakke3974 check ping and trace route from PGW to eNB..if there is packet loss, involve IP and transport team for rectification
thanks a lot
irrevelant,. Where is the overview of GTP here?

This is definitely not an Overview of GTP. It is GTP UMTS vs LTE. Title is very misleading and wastes people;s time.
