And once more I see that I really like your videos, regardless of the actual topic. I think I could watch you doing your dishes and still feel quite entertained.
I know right! He could draw up a schematic outlining the proper angle and force needed to efficiently remove pesky grime from plates and I would still be in awe.
Well, good or bad, they don't have those kinda inspections here. From the view point of safety and environmental it would be for the best.. but i would estimate a third of all local vehicles would be taken off the road.. that's in North Alabama USA. Love your videos, dude.
lesson learned parking break, I left a car parked in gear on a mosly level surface. It sat fine for over an hour, but once it cooled enough, first gear did not have the required friction to hold the car. It rolled backwards finding a hill accelerating across a mowed field turning in a tighting arch finding the only structure on 50 acres other than the house I had parked in front of. The impact knocked the top 2/3 of the small pump shed 1/2 a foot. (12.5cm) of it lower portion and Fondation. The structure did stop the car from the pond on the othr side of the pump house. The $500 car was fine after its little jaunt in revers, motor spinning fast backwards up setting the small building.
Also, an important tip for some cars and a good reason to maintain and always use the parking brake. Some older models, mostly with drum brakes or rear rotors with small park drums inside the rotor disk, hybrid like. These "brake shoes" , as called here are the padded consumable replacement parts. Still made with aspestos. do not breathe the big cloud of brake Dust incountered during repair/replacement. These models use the brake lever action to cog an adjuster that maintains the proper preload of the shoes to the drums as the friction material wears. If the brake level gradually functions less and less properly, that might be why. The backs do very little in overall braking, but are required to park safely on any incline as the parking break only in gauges the rears. Automatics are different with a pin to lock out the transmission. This is only my interpretation of the Eenglish language peace J
I just wanted to chime in, to say that I love watching your videos. Very informative, and your accent makes it sound like Arnold Schwarzenegger is giving me lessons :D It's so awesome! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!
It must be said..." to have to harness all that grey matter, only to do simple welding and small motor repair, but there you go. And doing it like a died-in-the-wool professional. Good stuff. At least you can plainly see what needs fixing. I have a software problem that doesn't allow me to run my Arduino IDE, I have no idea what is causing it. All the projects,....on hold :-( Will soon be sending more money toward the welder project as it becomes available. I too am working on very short purse strings I think I should send you out a beer to finish on if my credit card will permit. Might arrive a little late considering the time zones though :-) Best Regards
Hello! I find your videos highly inspiring! Please take care to use the correct moment when tightening the screws for the top cover gasket, to avoid new leaks and damage to your engine. I am sorry for being a "besserwisser" when it is obvious you know more than me and are a lot more competent, I just thought of it when I saw you screwing it on again. Thank you for making these, and good luck!
Your repair videos and theory videos (especially SMPS) are my absolute favorite! As of right now your are my favorite RUclips channel. Greetings from Florida!
Cool video. The German countryside photo was the BEST! I love to see the German land. And one or two hot Fraulines! Hahahahaha. Yeah, gotz to keep the Polizei off of your exhaust pipe! In USA I call it "bacon grilling on my tailpipe" ("Bacon" or "pig" is slang for the Polizei. ). Now you can be "hip" and "turn your friends 'on' to" some new irgot! Lastly, in USA all electric and electronic devices must have a "FCC Identification Number". That number designates the exact circuit diagram! Pretty easy, huh! In Germany, you may have a similar Agency and device registration...
I'm a bit jealous no crawling under the car on your back you have a pit to climb into... That is a very handy thing to have. All in all it seems like an easy car to work on.
When you go to the guy's shop ask borrow his torque wrench to tighten all the cover bolts to spec (should be easily found online by engine model). I'm saying this because there's no mention of that, which is an important step, lest you want to crack the cover and get yourself an expensive hassle.
+zx8401ztv All those german companies made pretty good stuff back then. Even the cheaper stuff had still quality. It makes me kinda sad to think that a good portion of those companies does not exist anymore. Grundig indeed made great tape recoders. I always had a preference for Braun-equipment. It was super expensive stuff back in the day, but today you can get it for little money and in my experience their stuff had the best build quality of them all.
+The Post Apocalyptic Inventor I only knew Braun for one thing, hair styling and shaving devices, i imagine that they were taken over by another company and ruined :-( I think Grundig has been ruined as well.:-(
You could have taken a photo of the front of the radio and using google do an image search using that image. Sometimes it can save you a lot of searching.
This makes me miss my 99 corsa, in the end i only fixed chritical stuff on it, cause there was always coming a new sound after a expencive repair. So it ended on the wrecking yard.... =)
i love how you are repairing that car and making it last a long time. do you think you will ever upgrade it to electric? that could help if you aim to make it last even longer. maybe in like 10 years an EV upgrade will be a nice price :D
+Rinoa Super-Genius Oh I would love to make an electric upgrade! I would have tried something like that already, if I had a farm or any piece of land, where I could make test-drives and stuff like that. Where I live now, I couldn't do that.
My friend, you´ve got a lot of knowledgr. Your videos are interesting and your explanations are solid. Sorry if i´m being too intrusive in my commenatry, but i think iy would be very interesting if you make a video talking a little more about yourself. How did you manage all this knowledge and how was your journey toward the ideia os starting this chanel. I´m a former eninnering student, but i guess all my training in the university wasn´t enough (by a long shot) to allow me a full knowledge as yours (academic, formal and pratical - the complete package). I´ve got some academic know how for analysis (and even though, partially) but i´m unequipped for pratical terms of enginnering. Sadly... but it´s true. But you my friend, you got it all! Thanks again, your videos are awesome.
I love classic radios !!!!. Also, this ones with transformers at input at oputput stage are great sounding, and by that era, germanium was common, great to add aun aux input. All the brands you named, where pretty good. Even grundig, that is pretty common in Germany have made very good radios, both in tunning selectivity and sound. Here talking about classic radios, Europeans like Grundig, and Telefunken are considered good stuff.

Yes there is a lot oft salting in the winter time here! And no you don't really sound like that. It's just an over-exagerated caricature of what a small group of people might sound like...
+Applied Electronics It was extremely cumbersome. The camera makes this work even harder than it already is. But it's also more fun for me, if I can film. It feels as if I'm not alone, when I do this stuff :D
The Post Apocalyptic Inventor absolutely agree with you. specially that part "you do not feel alone". cause i do it and i know how hard it is to capture, think and act same time. cool stuff. keeping going mate. all the best for you ;)
2 Years , I thought Germany was more strict than Ireland , we have it every year now for cars older than 10 years, great job tho as far too many people just dump perfectly good cars to the scrap yard that need nothing but a bit of elbow grease and some tlc.
+Steve Smith This car has been produced in vast numbers. That's the main reason, why I still drive it: You can get generic parts over the internet very easily.
Hey man, I love the videos! Do you have any idea why my old fashioned radio now takes a long time to seemingly "warm up" ? Why? Just oil the filter gasket and install it. Fill the engine with fresh oil, run it for ~60 seconds to fill the filter, then top off the oil until the dipstick shows full. Trying to install a filter full of oil on an engine that mounts its filter sideways is a bloody mess and a waste of fresh oil.

I really like the natural German pronunciation of those European company names, it's great to hear.
So much information / research and effort goes into your vids. love it.
I always laugh at how southern
American you can sound, after speaking in your proper German accent. Gets me every time.
Exhaust values slightly off => update software
