The industry has problems, obviously, but it is absolutely massive and still growing. And, for as much as hardcore gamers complain, AAA games still rake in the vast, vast, vast majority of revenue. This is one of many reasons why I am trying to distance myself from the online gaming "community". Too much groupthink BS. Too much ignorance. Too much intolerance for different viewpoints.

Playstation has dominated NPD for games and hardware all year. On a sidenote though im pretty worried for Ninja theory. Ghost of tsushima hit number 1 for may and the game came out 4 years ago. Hellblade 2 was a new release with 6 years of dev time and couldn't even chart.

I just read that they cut a deal with Amazon to put Game Pass on Fire TVs (weird considering Game Pass is a competitor to Amazon's Luna) The Xbox hardware will become less and less of a priority. I wouldn't be surprised if this is the last generation for actual Xbox consoles.

I would have preferred it to be a soulslike, but from what it sounds like I suspect Black Myth will be similar to something like Stellar Blade. Higher than average difficulty, one difficulty mode (although you can unlock a harder mode in SB once completed) but not quite as punishing as a real soulslike. Or maybe it will be and it just lacks pillars like bonfires and other aspects. I mean Sekiro would not be considered a soulslike either if it weren’t made by From Software, so we could see something akin to that. They probably want to distance themselves from the label because despite ER’s success, a lot of players still hear soulslike and tune out as they don’t like those games.

In watching these videos, I notice that many in the online community are not sports gamers. College Football 25 is current gen only. You can only play it on th PS5 and not thr PS4. It comes out next week. That will sale alot of consoles for theose gamers that have been playing the last version of that game which is 11 years old and was on the PS3.
The point is though that the ps5 is ahead by 8% “only” but it costs double ($500) 4years in compared to the ps4 4th year on the market ($249)… that’s crazy. Also Rise of the Ronin did better than dragons dogma 2 in may?.. wow!

Rise of the Ronin is a great game. Surprisingly long (I'm at the last segment with currently 80 hours) and a really good game for people with an interest in Japanese history. I was worried that it wouldn't do well considering it didn't get much marketing, so I'm glad to hear it is at least charting.

Series is way behind XB1. PS5 is keeping pace with PS4. The overall amount of consoles owned is probably higher due to Switch. Without Switch, the console numbers is probably lower, but I think the rise in PC gaming may have made up for it.

im exhausted by action rpg's, i dont like how you have to eneter some fights (in some games) essentially holding block, i like more combat focused games, stellar blade was able to balance it well where it encourages you to attack and black myth looks the same, plus the graphics look sooooo polished !

It's kinda crazy to me that SM2 is still showing up on the top 20 monthly US chart when it came out last year in October. It may have cost 300mil to make, but it's already made hundreds of millions more than that. Going by the 11 million copies sold that Sony stated before the game had a sale, that's around 700+ mil in revenue. That's still hundreds of millions of dollars in profit even accounting for the lower amount of revenue from physical sales. I only bring up the budget of SM2 and revenue it's made because it ironically shows that it's not unsustainable for Sony to make their blockbuster AAA despite what people claim. They aren't profiting as much as they could be because of the budgets, but they are not making miniscule amounts of profits. They also want to lower cost to increase their profit margins, not because making blockbuster AAA games are unsustainable for them.
Like I said before and always say playstation 5 is the best way to play and I can't wait to play Wolverine, ghosts of tsushima 2 and the many other Secret Playstation 5 games guess what Xbox still have no games and they have to wait to play black myth wukong 😅

It's kinda crazy to me that SM2 is still showing up on the top 20 monthly US chart when it came out last year in October. It may have cost 300mil to make, but it's already made hundreds of millions more than that. Going by the 11 million copies sold that Sony stated before the game had a sale, that's around 700+ mil in revenue. That's still hundreds of millions of dollars in profit even accounting for the lower amount of revenue from physical sales.
I only bring up the budget of SM2 and revenue it's made because it ironically shows that it's not unsustainable for Sony to make their blockbuster AAA despite what people claim. They aren't profiting as much as they could be because of the budgets, but they are not making miniscule amounts of profits. They also want to lower cost to increase their profit margins, not because making blockbuster AAA games are unsustainable for them.

And V Rising, etc. I own an Xbox Series X with Game Pass and it’s shocking to see that PS Plus Extra also has way better games than Game Pass at the moment, and Black Myth Wukong got delayed on Xbox, which was the most hyped action adventure game of the year for a long time ever since the first reveal. There is nothing to play on Xbox at all.
