Don't laugh...but I wish Molly's style of dresses were still available. Perfect for older women with some shape, midi length, in my mind just very attractive while being modest.
Laura Lutz Are you saying your birth brought down the world, that it was a nicer time before you were born? Surely not! It was a revolutionary time of desegregation rulings Brown et al v Board of Education, Topeka, Kansas and Hernandez v Texas as well as the Army-McCarthy hearings that brought down an infamous monster, who caused the suicide of the original Jake on this show. NOT a nicer time. A time of tectonic upheaval.
I was born in 1945 and lived on 2148 Mapes Ave. The show was supposedly filmed on Tremont Ave. Just blocks away. Dion lived on Belmont Ave. and name his group after Belmont Ave. The films that were filmed locally are, the 7- ups, A Bronx Tale and Car 54. Soupy Sales Died in St. Barnabas Hospital. I attended P.S.48 , P.S.57 and Morris High School. The Bronx Zoo and Botsnical Gardens were nearby. So was Arthur Ave. The home of Little Italy in the Bronx. Attended P.S.57. P.S.48 and Morris High School.
There was also Fordham University, Fordham Rd .Several White Castles, Freedom Land, E.J.Korvettes, Jack - in The Box. White Tower F.W. Woolworth. Frankie Lymon was from the Bronx, So was Sal Mineo, Sonia Sotomayor, Milton Berle, Arthur Murray etc. Babe Ruth lived in the Bronx when he played with the N.Y. Yankees.
I live about 4 blocks from where this show was suppose to be on Tremont Ave. I lived at 2148 Mapes Ave. @ 181st -182 st. Dion and the Belmonts came from Belmont Ave.4 blocks away. The Bronx Zoo is on Southern Blvd .2 Blocks away from Mapes Ave. Car 54 was also filmed on Southern Blvd. Mario's and Tra- Di -Noi are just few of the Wonderful Restaurants in the Italian neighborhood. So was the Italian Market and St.Barnabas Hospitsl where Soupy Sales Died. One of several White Castles are on Fordham Rd. near Fordham Hospital. The movies, The 7ups and Bronx Tale also. NO PLACE LIKE Da Bronx.
Did you find it? I remember that episode and was also surprised by her words. Didn’t she say something about creating rain? If I run across it again, will let you know. Hope you are well and healthy and happy during this pandemic.
@@notefromjan well, healthy and happy my dear sibling in love, light and laughter... i did find it but did i note it? will look for it again then post it here, hope you are equally in good health and spirits!
I wasn't born in the 1950s i was born in 1969 i got into watching this show many years ago as reruns. I don't get that molly has one set of rules for Sammy and another for rosey. Rosey doesn't have a life of her own. and i most definitely don't or didn't ever call my parents mama darling or papa darling. Nobodies lives are like this.
Guaranteed my Dad did not watch it though. He never appreciated Yiddish banter. I have to admit, it's a love/hate relationship with me. It can start grading, but I enjoy for awhile.
tom wright Hay,I am learning Yiddish. And it's common for Jewish people,to not learn Yiddish as kid's but Hebrew. Adults wanna talk in front of the children without them picking up on it. I learned dybbuk as an adult but heard it alot growing up. The workmans circle in Manhattan. Teaches it @200$ for 6. 30+and hour. Worth it.And I want to keep it alive.I downloaded mamaloshin,a Yiddish album sing by Mandy patinkin.I got it to get my pronunciation correct. Thank G-d it's him. Or I'd be bored. He didn't learn it till Steven Sondheim talked him into it. And what a great show this is. It makes me homesick.
Because Yiddish is not the language of Hebrews but European jews from Germany Poland Russia etc. It's a mix of said languages mixed with Hebrew letters 🤔
The Rybutol corporation has long gone out of business ! Remember this show and the commercials were recorded in the 1950's by Gertrude Berg. She is long deceased..
As a boy or 8, or 9--can remember seeing this product on Pharmacy and Grocery Shelves. Even the one pictured, with Molly....but that is now, nearly 60 years ago.
This show originally was Supposedly filmed on Tremont Ave. In the Bronx, New York. I live just a few Blocks away at 2148 Mapes Ave. 4 blocks from Belmont Ave .where Dion and the Belmonts were from. Not far from the Bronx Zoo, and Mario's Restaurant. Also the Bronx Botanical Garden. Car 54 was also filmed nearby on Southern Blvd.
Gertrude Berg was amazing. Love this show. A classic.
What a lovely woman. Everyone should have such a neighbor.
I loved this show...
I like the detail of the sugar cube with the drink.

The dude has been in the army, and Jake has to tell when he can go out 😳
Never saw this. Looks very watchable. Was this considered a sit-com or a Soap?
I love the snicksnack that Molly keeps mentioning.
A real soap opera!
Family is everything ❤
I still love Mrs. Goldberg. Ooh, fir a cup of Sanka❤
I love her
An era long gone...a family w actual parents who care...this is good entertainment...and God approves.

I would've bought that. Rybo stuff!
Does anybody on this show have a job, besides Mr. Goldberg? I stiil luv this show.
His wife works very hard. She keeps a beautiful home for the family. There is no hired help, and the home is still beautiful.
One income household, better world.
