MTH makes some great RailKing models which run on smaller layouts. I have only 031 & 042, so it is wonderful to be able to run the Big Boy. I purchased the RK 4014 Oil Tender version that came out last year and love it. Thanks for sharing.

What a beautiful MTH Railking Big Boy. Now I can’t wait to run mine as soon as I clock out from work. You even have the auxiliary tender. Very impressive! I am already subscribed to your channel and I just turned notifications on. Thank you so much for making this video! Frank😊

Nice. It's good to have the slightly smaller articulated engines for tighter curves. It would be nice if Lionel and MTH would offer their full-sized Big Boys and others with optional swiveling rear driver sets. Not too much, maybe a total of a quarter inch to about three eighths. It would help them look better on O72 curves, where they look kind of goofy, with the front overhang as they go around. I've mentioned this on a couple of other channels. Either way, that is a fine locomotive for smaller layouts. An excellent video, as always.

Thanks for sharing! I’ve been trying to acquire a Lionel Lionmaster Lionchief Plus 2.0 Big Boy for quite some time. It’s also a smaller version that can take 0-31 curves.

Cool beans. Have the Railking Challenger myself, and it navigates O-27 curves and switches, which is good because that's all I can use in the tiny train room I have.

      Wow that’s impressive 0-27

Most Railking locos were designed to be O-27 friendly, as when the line was launched by MTH O-27 track was still being made.

@@Shipwright1918 Yes, they can, according to the specs on the box, where it mentions O27. I have a larger layout, but I bought a Rail King Southern Ps-4 Pacific for my AMT Southern Crescent set. The only O27 curves that I have are for my trolley line. Maybe I'll run it on that section and see how it does. That line is great for smaller layouts, for sure.

Definitely a fan of them myself, most of my modern era engines are Railking because they fit on the curves, and they tend to be a bit less expensive than their Lionel equivalents like the Lionmaster engines.
One thing I like about MTH's stuff is you can still do all the advanced features, even programming, using a traditional transformer via combinations of the whistle and bell buttons.

Thanks for the info! I'm in the process of adding O-36 and O-54 Atlas loops. Seems this MTH Rail King Big Boy would work. I run conventional as well.

1:12 You say 29 1/2" long, where my MTH is only 25"(Includes tender). I bought mine second hand without a box, so no paper work on it. The number on the engine cab is 2195. I hope to run it in the next couple of months.
