Shinjuku Gyoen (新宿御苑) is a national garden located in Shinjuku area. It’s one of the best hanami(cherry blossom viewing) spots in Tokyo. The vast garden has a large space with 58.3 hectares, and about 1,000 cherry trees in various kinds can be enjoyed including early and late blooming cherry blossoms. Shinjuku Gyoen offers a peaceful atmosphere even though it’s located in the heart of the city center. Many people visit here during the cherry blossom season and enjoy relaxing, walking around the park and having a picnic (alcoholic beverage is prohibit) with the spectacular view of cherry blossoms. The garden is usually closed on Monday, but it will be open everyday during cherry blossom season.
