      I just came across your videos, they're really good. Vital Lacerda is my favorite designer so I've thought about this before. Interestingly Luca and I have some similarities and some big differences in our rankings, mine would be:
      1. CO2
      2. Kanban
      3. Lisboa
      4. On Mars
      5. The Gallerist

      Been wanting to get this to the table again so watching the playthrough again to sort of scratch that itch. As for rankings:
      1a. The Gallerist
      1b. Lisboa
      2. Vinhos
      3. CO2 (coop version)
      4. On Mars

    Nice playthrough! Clean, clear and crisp. Like the way you present it, then play it and eventually review it. Will now for sure get into the other Lacerda play throughs you did.
    I own three of them and love the thought that went into the theming combo with mechanics. Topped off with the great artwork and design from Ian O'Toole. But great job 'Before you Play'.

    First of all, I would like to say thank you to the both of you for creating amazing playthrough content like this, especially when board games can cost between $100-200. As a newbie in the hobby, I am trying to venture out of my comfort zone and want to try more heavier games, but always had a fear that the rules and playthrough would be too complex for me to grasp. After watching your #VitalLecerda series, I feel more confident, and purchased Lisboa and On Mars. I will most probably rewatch your videos when I receive the games lol. I think you have gotten me hooked on purchasing all the Vital games. The art by Ian is so good, and just looking at the boards makes me want to play the game.
    And a special thank you to Monique for being such an awesome teacher! Looking forward to more content from the both of you!

    @1:43 I always thought that Ian O'Toole has one of the most varied art styles out there. If I didn't know otherwise, I would have guessed Lisboa, Escape Plan, Nemo's War, etc. all had different artists. Compare that to artists like Klemens Franz, Vincent Dutrait, or Mihajlo Dimitrievski who have wonderful, but recognizable art from game to game.

    • @BeforeYouPlay
      @BeforeYouPlay  4 года назад +4

      You know, you're right actually! I was used to seeing Ian 'O toole's artstyle on Lacerda games and associated it with the lighter color scheme and rounded corner-box style layouts of say Vinhos, and Lisboa. However, I believe he also did the art for Pipeline, amongst others and I didn't recognize it initially. In short, he is amazing lol

    Watching through these Lacerda videos. The three that interest me the most are this, Lisboa, and CO2 Second Chance. How would you rank these in easiest to hardest to 'grok'?

  • @SamiPaju
    @SamiPaju 4 года назад +2

    Good timing! Played my first game of The Gallerist (3p) on Tabletopia last night :) All of us were new to this. I gotta say I really enjoyed it a lot! Felt a bit like Vinhos but slower and more open. And I think if a game is good online, it'll be even better with physical components, whereas a 'meh' game will still be 'meh' even with a proper board.
    I have a feeling that this will top Vinhos and On Mars for me, but Lisboa is still the #1 Lacerda I've played. CO2 I really need to get on the table again to make my mind of it, although I really enjoyed it as well. And I wouldn't be surprised if I end up keeping all the Lacerdas I have bought / ordered: Lisboa, Vinhos, CO2, Gallerist, and Kanban EV.

    • @BeforeYouPlay
      @BeforeYouPlay  4 года назад +1

      Yeah I absolutely agree, if a game is good online...it MUST be fantastic physically. I'm curious to see how your opinion grows after several plays. I'm so happy to hear that you are enjoying those Lacerdas!

    Hi guys! Question: when you place an assistant on your contract card as one of your executive actions, when does the assistant go back
    to the office? Also what happens to the assistant when you flip the contract card?

    • @KP-qt7mv
      @KP-qt7mv 4 года назад

      Your second question is the answer for the first one! When you sell an art piece, the assistant (if any) on the associated contract goes back to your empty office space (if any) immediately. This is the same as "flipping the contract card". The other scenario is when you replace a fulfilled contract with an assistant on it, that assistant also goes back to the empty office space (if any) immediately.
      You'll be performing any of these 2 actions at the top location.

    The best part of your play is the rock, paper, scissors bit. It’s 🤣😂🤣. This is such a good game. It’s a coin toss for me in fav between this and Lesboa.

    Another great tutorial/play through....I love The Gallerist however I do have one criticism. The International Market feels tacked on. It lacks the theme the rest of the game has in spades. Would have been great if you could have an auction of your art rather than simply selling it for the fame star level.

    • @BeforeYouPlay
      @BeforeYouPlay  4 года назад

      Ahh yes I see what u mean. I agree, theme-wise that section definitely feels the most detached. I appreciate the end-of-game auction for the other pieces of art but it would be nice to see more in-game application

      I don't think that is always the case with 2P. I've played games where it has happened much earlier than the end of the game, but I would say a majority of the time for me it happens in the 2nd half. Thank you for watching! i'll check out your IG
