That Jon death scene being included had nothing to do with Catelyn's monologue.
The reason this video ended with that scene of Jon dying is because the R+L=J video was made after the end of season 5 (where Jon Snow had just been killed, since that's where the books had stopped), so a fan took it upon himself to create this video to show hints throughout the show that confirm the theory.

Dan and Dave were the showrunners. Before George let them adapt the books, he wanted to know if they were real fans. So he quizzed them. R+L=J has been a fan theory since the first book. Thats the interview.

For Ned to tarnish his reputation in front of everyone he has ever known and yet to know (especially when honor and reputation is probably the most important trait in the north), including his wife whom he hasn't cheated on ever, just to keep his word/promise to his sister, just makes me respect him even more. Truly, an honorable man, a character (fictional as it may be) that of which we must learn from.

6:30 - Ned was going to tell Jon the truth after Jon joined the Night's Watch, because joining the watch means renouncing your family name. Jon would no longer be a Targaryen!

(Ned)"The next time we see each other, we'll talk about your mother. Hmm?" This actually came true. S8E1, Jon was at Ned's statue in the crypt and Sam showed up to talk about his true lineage.

I wonder if Ned was counting on the Night's Watch to provide safety for Jon once Jon's true parentage was revealed. If Jon took the black, it would require him to forsake his family and put him beyond Robert's reach. Thus, being Aegon Targaryen would no longer be a death sentence, once he was a sworn brother.

It wasnt a coincidence that Jon was there right after he said a Targarian alone in the world is s terrible thing. That was an Easter egg they left for us.
That was one of the 2 writers of the show who had to make the books work in a TV show format talking there. They would work with George R R Martin doing that. So it was Martins plan all along that Lyanna was Jon's mother. D is the first initial of both wtiters. So the fans referred to them as D & D

It's 170 years before the original story, back when the Targaryens were still kings of westeros and when they still had dragons.

Yes Little Finger knew. The look he gives Sansa in that scene…
AND the scene in season 6 he says to Sansa :
Who will they choose the daughter of Ned and cat shark OR a bastard born in the SOUTH.
South? How would he know that?
He was Jon Snow because bastards born in the North are named Snow.
Bastards in the South are named Sand.
After we find out that Lyanna is his mother he is then born in the south at the tower…
Up until then we are to assume he was born in the North from Ned’s infidelity.
We never hear this until Bran states it to Sam….
So LIttleFinger KNEW he was born in the South.
No one at that point knew that.
So he knew Lyanna was Jon mother and Raegar his father.
Maybe he didn’t know they were married and he wasn’t a bastard …
But he knew who he was.
I don’t know how … I’m assuming because he is similar to Vayris and has little birds or spies….
I never caught the seaon 8 “bastard born in the south” until many reactions over the years and then I heard it and was shocked.
I wish I knew how he knew….hut he did.

Just like Maester Aemon, once Jon was a sworn brother, he (theoretically, I suppose) couldn't actually do anything about his heritage, so perhaps Ned would have told him. Or maybe he'd have realised that silence is golden and rather than stir up trouble, have taken the secret to his grave.
I've seen lots of reactions, and nearly everyone shows that scene, and every time I see it I wonder WWNHD. What would Ned have done?
Alt Shift X has a video on R+L=J as well, with stuff from the books that won't be spoilery now you know.
If you want some fun clips with the actors off script, look for 'The Ultimate Game Of Thrones Super Cut' and 'The BEST of Game Of Thrones On The Graham Norton Show Part 2' on RUclips, lots of the stars in Graham Norton's relaxed chat show.

Both Littlefinger and Uncle Benjem look down, smiling, ..sad that it only served for Bran to separate Jon from Daenerys and thus fulfill his Machiavellian plan. That's why it's better to watch this video before the end. The most important thing about the magnifica 4ª season, was removed, the reason why Tyrion went up to see his father.

Littlefinger was the reason everything happened. It was him who spread the lie that Rhaegar kidnapped Lyanna and raped her that caused the domino effect for Roberts Rebellion. He had Lyssa poison Jon Arryn and framed the Lannisters for it causing tension with them and the Starks that further spiraled into Ned dying and everyone going to war. He was the whole reason!

  • @robtintelnot9107

Regarding Littlefinger's smirk at Sansa in the crypt brings light to my favorite theory. It was him that started the kidnapping rumor. He wanted the Starks to die so he could marry Cat.

Ive always actually disliked the idea of him knowing. Like i know hes supposed to be "smart" but it just feels too random for him to be the only person in the kingdoms to know that information. Like even if he was friends with rhaegar or lyanna it seems a bit of a stretch that out of all people they decided to tell him. Maybe a bit more plausible the septon that wed them owed littlefinger a favor and used the information as payment but again still a stretch with no evidence. In my hearts i just feel like they just wanted to make littlefinger seem like he knows everything even if it makes no sense he would know

Once Jon was in the watch he was "out of the reach" of Robert so Ned could tell Jon his true identity as he could never claim titles or lands.
EDIT You'd really appreciate the book I think, they're just even deeper than the show. If the show had followed everything in the books they'd probably still be making seasons.

I think Ned genuinely was planing to tell Jon the truth once he was in the Nights watch.
Once he "Takes the black" he is beyond the reach of even the King. So Ned could then tell Jon and there would be nothing anyone could do about it.
"The next time we meet, we'll talk about your mother" was a true statement I think.
(It's such a pity how utterly crap GoT became when you remember how good the first 5-6 seasons were)

Robert loved her and Leana acted like she was too good for a man (Robert) with a bastard child but then turned and got with A MARRIED MAN. She killed her family just like Raegar ended his.
