In my opinion, if you’re going to make a muscle EV, it needs to look so aggressive, even more aggressive than a wide body charger, that people want to buy it just for the looks alone.
How tf is there not a simple 400hp coupe EV that looks good for like sub 40k yet. Like the EV version of a BRZ. Doesn’t even need to have a good range like 150 miles would be fine, just make it handle well, look good and have some kick and it will sell.

As the guy who took a PT Cruiser to an SCCA national championship race (really), I think I'm qualified to opine on Mopar enthusiasts. And exactly NONE of them want this car. And exactly ZERO EV buyers want a Dodge. So congratulations Stellantis, you made a car that appeals to exactly nobody.
2:10 That was some of the most awkward shlt I've ever seen. LOL. If this was a Tesla Event all the fan boys would be screaming and hollerin' LMFAO!!! 🤣🤣🤣
If this were a Tesla event introducing some new performance EV, the car would at the very least offer ridiculous class-leading performance, and slick tech that “just works” in a minimalist package; Performance Tesla Enthusiasts would have a reason to be cheering. This thing here is none of those things- performance at or near the bottom compared with its peers, unfinished/half baked tech/software, underwhelming features. Just awful.
you know what sucks, i bet that someone was like, why not just record a hellcat and use that sound? but someone else was like, but we have to make it sound "futuristic"
No Muscle Car enthusiast wants this nor wants it to be considered a Muscle Car. But full transparency I've owned a 2016 manual hellcat Challenger for 6 years.
The guy from Dodge isn't even excited about the car. I can only imagine the vibe was "this is marketing bullshit as fake as the engine sounds" and no one was excited. Everyone there is sad that Stellantis killed the SRT program. I think it's like when people that loved horses saw the car for the first time.
Even the presenter looks sad showing the car off. Who did Dodge make this car for? Certainly not any of their current customers. No one who was into hellcats or Mopars in general asked for this. No one outside of previous dodge customer was like, if only muscle cars came in EV form I would buy one. Does dodge even know who their customers are? Do they have any left? This car is going to be the biggest flop in automotive history. This car is bad, real bad. If I was a betting man I would be shorting Stellantis stock like a mad man right now.
Management. The board told them they needed to innovate, so they unilaterally decided that this is what buyers want without listening to knowledgeable people who work for them. It's embarrassing as an engineer to implement something you completely disagree with because someone 3 management levels above has made a decree. Your colleagues know it's stupid, your manager knows it's stupid, yet everyone knows it's futile to try to make a case because the decision makers won't listen. That's when you update your LinkedIn profile.
@@Dwigt_RortugalNot just management, but specifically Carlos Tavares. There were several employees and board members who flat out insisted keeping the V8 but Carlos didn't like that.
I think Dodge fans would be all over this if each trim level was $20k cheaper and had maybe 30-40% more power. It’s a great looking car but it just feels like a lazy attempt to cash in on a name rather than trying to make a competitive vehicle.
They should have done it like the ERay, it should be a plug in hybrid V8 with a bigger battery and maybe even an electric supercharger and electric motors on the front wheels for launching and regen braking and torque vectoring, then it should have all electric accessories to reduce drag on the engine and increase effiency. They should have spoken to humans with money and gave them exactlynwhat they wanted...which aint that.
Who is this for? Tesla owner? They dont want a dodge. Muscle car owners? They really want a v8. Mach e owners? Idk maybe... It's just a very weird car. I think the sixpack cars will do well if they're done right but cmon. Put a f'ing v8 in it. Even if its a smaller DOHC v8. Also the rear roof line on the 2 door looks weird. 4 door looks good in renderings but 2 door looks odd.
Spot on. I’m already looking at other brands that still offer V8s for my next purchase. Dodge lost the plot and seems to have no idea who their customers are.
It's perhaps the automotive version of a blow up doll. Note to every automaker, if you want to innovate step outside of your bubbles and talk to the car community, they can save you a ton of time and money.
Rich captures all of our feelings so well on this!! He was totally right when he said Dodge should've traveled around and taken input from people...the problem is that I feel like most of us would've just told them, "Don't do this!" But I digress. 🤣🤣🤣
As a former Challenger 392 owner and current 2024 Tesla Model 3 Performance owner, four things stand out that I dislike most: 1) Price. 2) Weight. 3) Fake engine noises. 4) Unbaked tech - charging, navigation, phone as a key, etc.
The shock value would be to drift the car, and do some donuts without any exhaust sound! Why on earth did they try to make it sound like it had a V8 Hemi in it!? I get the need for some motor sound for some folks, but that sound could be anything, a low hum, a 4 cylinder track, etc. Adding that V8 soundtrack, and the speakers required just adds to the already overly priced car. People who would buy this could care less about the V8 roar where people who want a V8 roar in their car are buying a V8 car!😅👍✌🗽
If you're coming from a 2016 V6 Challenger, this would be a good car (at $44k, not 75). But if you're already accustomed to a modern electric car you won't even consider this.

The closing scene zoom to bored facial expression of dude on revving up captured the essence of everyone in this video.
I don't understand the "Power Shot" button at all! I thought your right FOOT was pressing down on the Power Shot! Don't get me started on the fake exhaust!!! I really hate gimmicky crap!
Ya know, if it wasn’t $62,000 I think it’d be an appealing option. But that price point is just ridiculous
The car sounds horrendous.
It's like when you put cards in your bike tires as a kid so it sounded like a motorcycle
Except that was actually fun.
Suffice it to say this is probably the last Dodge event Rich gets invited to. 10:46 "...how she goes from a 4 to a 6... and that's kinda what's happening here."
The expressions of people's faces as they fake rev'd up the"motor"😂😂 was priceless😂🤣🤣🤣😅😅🤣😂😂😂
Lol rich flexing the flimsy interior door card and going 'hmm' is exactly what I do in almost every new car
I love when rolling the window all the way up flexes the entire inner door structure and panel. The mark of True Quality.
Ha that was epic
If I hear this car is comfortable one more time!
It's like saying she has a nice personality. Keep it move'n.
Video idea! buy the first crashed one and add a hellcat or scatpack engine 😂 like the model D, but the engine everyone wants on this one lol 9:35
yeah! make it a real muscle car
Why is she talking like we're supposed to be surprised, shocked and amazed 😂
In my opinion, if you’re going to make a muscle EV, it needs to look so aggressive, even more aggressive than a wide body charger, that people want to buy it just for the looks alone.
Like the Hyundai N Vision 74
Exactly. And if it must make noises, it needs to be unique and not a recording of something trying to be a gas car.
How tf is there not a simple 400hp coupe EV that looks good for like sub 40k yet. Like the EV version of a BRZ. Doesn’t even need to have a good range like 150 miles would be fine, just make it handle well, look good and have some kick and it will sell.
Rich said it.... The Hyundai Ionic is more exciting than the Dodge Charger! 😂
I and my loud vacuum cleaner , everyone needs to hear it.
It’s like meeting the extremely proud and excited parents of a newborn. You’re genuinely excited to see this brand new baby. And then the baby looks like a beaten up moldy potato.
No filter. I love it.
Best car-reviewer in the world.
James May is 2nd cause he's a polite Englishman.
I can imagine Clarkson, May and Hammond having an unprecedented troll fest the way they troll JAAAAGs. James May with a mostly straight face: "This is absolute Yankee rubbish."
racerx's face at 2:38 is funny, a mapquest print out is crazy
As the guy who took a PT Cruiser to an SCCA national championship race (really), I think I'm qualified to opine on Mopar enthusiasts. And exactly NONE of them want this car. And exactly ZERO EV buyers want a Dodge. So congratulations Stellantis, you made a car that appeals to exactly nobody.
Nobody asks for anyone to start and rev their clippers, electric toothbrush or laptop. The level cheesiness is gawd damn insane.
2:10 That was some of the most awkward shlt I've ever seen. LOL. If this was a Tesla Event all the fan boys would be screaming and hollerin' LMFAO!!! 🤣🤣🤣
Because it wouldn't be a fever dream muscle car, the specs would be impressive, and it would be exciting in at least some way.
The silence is deafening 💀💀💀💀
@@artificialintelligence0101 Indeed.
Just awful.
This is the best review I’ve seen on this car by far!
Damn... Rich always bring hilarious takes
"They didn't come to party, they came to a funeral"
Thank you for being honest and not kissing dodges ass.
Can you hear that? The exhaust? No, Dodge instant regret for inviting Rich.
I didn't know that Rich had a twin. It's really hard to tell them apart, but one's a little bit taller
21:49 when your vacuum cleaner gets stuck with something lol
you know what sucks, i bet that someone was like, why not just record a hellcat and use that sound? but someone else was like, but we have to make it sound "futuristic"
That's when you update your LinkedIn profile.
for woke degens
the EPA
Not even three minutes in, and this is one of your best vids!
It’s like cards between the spokes of my childhood... but atleast it’s a safety feature
GTAV online literally has this same car. Aint no one driving it in there either 😂😂😂
The ionic N does fake raving soooo much better, right down to the fake shifts.
The lady giving the presentation really seems like the person for the job.
That door panel at 5:30 looks like a background texture from initial release Cyberpunk.
Stellantis has absolutely destroyed dodge and Ram. What a shame.
Oh nice, after the brutal review from Kyle at Out of Spec I wonder what Rich will think.... oh 28:55
$20k+ for a software upgrade makes me not want the base model, either
Now you gotta charge the charger with a charger that came with the charger to charge the charger with charge
Chargeception
No no, there's no vehicle to vehicle charging...
that car sounds like like you are having Sx with them hyper realistic dolls
pretty nice, but not the real deal
- a friend told me
Right… a “friend” we believe you buddy
It's perhaps the automotive version of a blow up doll. Note to every automaker, if you want to innovate step outside of your bubbles and talk to the car community, they can save you a ton of time and money.
Spent all these years appreciating how much more realistic car exhausts sound in video games.
Now the cars sound like video games 20 years ago...
Rich captures all of our feelings so well on this!! He was totally right when he said Dodge should've traveled around and taken input from people...the problem is that I feel like most of us would've just told them, "Don't do this!" But I digress. 🤣🤣🤣
This is probably not for the gas car guys. They probably wanted a muscle car for the theys.
As a former Challenger 392 owner and current 2024 Tesla Model 3 Performance owner, four things stand out that I dislike most:
1) Price.
2) Weight.
3) Fake engine noises.
4) Unbaked tech - charging, navigation, phone as a key, etc.
The nose twitch during the fake rev lol 😂😂
in canada is a deal 54000$ cad for the rt awd, in quebec with ev rabate is like 47000$ cad, 61000 us is too expensive for that
Waste of money, regardless of what you pay.
Stellantis = $$$$$ markup
2:40 thank you for conveying the EXACT emotion that many of us would have.
So what their saying is “it’s not as fast as a Tesla, but it looks different”
Yeah as long as the plaid exists for 90k these other EV attempts just don’t make any sense.
It's pretty short on range compared to a Tesla too.
If I were in the market for a $60,000 EV, I’d probably buy one. But I’m not… looks like a cool car to me.
the "why are you gay" dude is missing from this footage 😂
How are people going to know their credit scores without a real sound of scat pack
Imagine making a 6000+ lb car and encouraging the drivers to drift on pavement. The tyres just are not made for something so heavy.
26:02 listen carefully to the “exhaust” glitching 😂🤣
🤣😂 like a slow pc
😂😂
If you're coming from a 2016 V6 Challenger, this would be a good car (at $44k, not 75). But if you're already accustomed to a modern electric car you won't even consider this.
