So by Joe Brandon's definition everything done during the Civil Rights was against the law
I think when the system is so clearly corrupt and immoral, the argument of legality is meaningless. Legality =/= morality. And in this case, and in the case of the civil rights movement, the law is demonstrably IMMORAL.

@@AH-vm8yo yes, legality =/= morality.
@@AH-vm8yo Nobody wants to go to jail and have to fight the system. When cops arrest you, they lay on the charges to make it harder. So you all are making the wrong statement. Legality > Morality for the average person. Your average American can't spend 12 hours in a holding cell and come out with charges on them. They have a job to hold down that has a three strikes attendance rule. As well as lost wages that would basically cripple them.
@@ClubQRoundDeuxUh huh, but these aren't average Americans. They're college students. And they are doing the protesting you said they wouldn't do. This isn't a question of action but of support. "My fellow Fascis.. I mean, Americans."

We're not a left wing authoritarianism yet. I hope we can prevent that from becoming a reality
The point of protest is to disrupt the normal functioning of society. If your protest doesn't get in the way, it isn't a protest.
You realize that the point of civil disobedience is to get arrested? You're not supposed to claim what you're doing isn't actually a crime. The point of civil disobedience is that you care about your cause enough to get arrested.
You break into a building, you get arrested. The law isn't supposed to interpret how righteous your cause is.
That's absolutely not true. In the same way as anti-abortion groups shouldn't be allowed to disrupt the abortion clinics or block the entrance to them.

I believe we call it civil disobedience for a reason Mr. President and we stand with the students
There is absolutely no law that exists that dictates I can't engage in an activity because of some vague notion that it makes someone feel "unsafe". It's almost as if they think everyone is really that hilariously stupid.
they act like racists during intergration weren't making this same argument.
Stand your ground, protest edition.
War is now Peace.
By removing the true meaning of the word antisemitism (hate for the Jewish people in any form for the fact that they are Jewish) and attaching it to Zionism (the idea that Jewish people must have an ethnostate) one basically renders any discussion about Israel, antisemitism, and Zionism useless.
That is exactly what Orwell meant when saying that War is now Peace: By removing the word War and equating it to Peace, there is no way to effectively discuss the topic.
Without exaggeration, this is a true Orwellian law.
But like, you can still separate between them by making up your own words, right?
@@minestar2247 how? criticism of Israel is antizionist and now that's antisemitism.
@@minestar2247 Language is a trade. You cannot sell something that nobody is buying.
You can call criticism-of-Israel-that-is-not-antisemitic-in-nature anything that you want for short all you want, but if nobody engages with that term, then it is completely useless.
On top of that, what the US government has done by law is equating anti-zionism and anti-semitism, so even if you talk about anti-zionism, under US law, you are now being antisemitic.
Of course there are complicated ways around it, but that is the whole point: To hinder and impede the speech as much as possible.
It already takes ten times longer to debunk a lie than to make it, with this it will take 100 more, which is the whole point from the zionist point of view.
Hold on. Genocide joe just said people have a RIGHT to get an education. As in its not a paid privilege? Alright joe. Pass that socialized education legislation. Right now. Do it right now.
"Education is how you launder privilege into meritocracy."
This is why it is extremely important that the best colleges are filled with students from rich families, whose sons and daughters had the merit of choosing the right vagina to be born from.
Do not question the status quo.
Lmao you have the right to earn an education I guess. Least that's the dumb shit my dad would say
“You’re allowed to protest, just not in any way that actually demands attention so we can continue to ignore you :)”
Saying that property damage or being in any way disruptive is “violent” is completely ridiculous. That IS by default saying that any mass protest is “violent”, if a single window is broken or traffic is ever blocked. My rare “lib” take is that I don’t like violence, but that is NOT violence. Property is not people. Property does not have more rights than Palestinian children. If “property damage” is such a concern, Genocide Joe should look at a single picture from Gaza.
That's the thing: even if there was violence, it's not like they care about violence. They never did. America is pretty much the most violent state in modern times. At the end of the day, what they actually care about is maintaining the status quo and upholding the interests of the bourgeois.
That's where the analysis starts, and where it ends. Anything beyond that is just thin veneer of fake principles - arbitrarily constructed for their own convenience, and arbitrarily applied to uphold their own power.
