I am 20 years old and I remember when this series was on. It was one of my favorite shows. It taught me so much and to this day how much Jake loved Rose still touches me. He would rather her be alive and never known him, then be destroyed and having loved him. He sacrificed their memories by saving her. It was the only way and I still cry like I did then.
i feel the same way. It's a shame this series has kind of a short run on TV.

as a child, you notice more of the love line, and when you grow up, you see all the tragedy, pain, strength, courage and sacrifice of Rose. she's too strong and thoughtful character for children's cartoon.

I think 'but me' is kind off calling for second wish you could say "I don't want to be destroyed", so it's fair enough she didn't say that.
I wish this episode was a final part of this show and if only it was a film, this could be way more enjoyable to watch. Not to mention this show was meant to have 3rd and 4th season but Disney didn't want that is another topic to talk about.

Me too! What Rose did was very brave and she didn’t know what Jake was going to do. They are lucky there love was enough that it broke the wish so she could remember her other life.
Real good times that I'll never forget. One of the best animated series that Disney ever made. And never will be able to do something closer to this again!

I wouldn't be so sure. There's a high probability that there were survivors, mainly the students from the episode "The Academy". It would have been too cruel of Disney to just kill them.

On one hand, we have the surviving students, who could have kidnapped like Rose; and when they find out, they turn their back against it and become allies of the Magical World.
On the other hand, we have the Huntsman and other elder members, returning with a terrible thirst of revenge and willing to do ANYTHING for it; including killing their "traitor" students.
It would be interesting to see that and a splinter faction emerge from it. What gets me the most about it is if the Huntsclan succeeded what would be there next options for global power.

Irrelevant. Due to Jake's wish, Rose was never recruited by the Hunts Clan, therefore paradox is created, without Rose's recruitment, no wish of the destruction of the Clan. Their deaths never happened.

3:23 He sounds so pissed there, he never sounds like that again in the entire series. Some great voice acting right there.
Honestly, it's kinda sad the show is directed at kids. I mean sure, I loved it as a kid, but I recently rewatched it and while I still love it, there's so much they could have done if they wouldn't have to keep it strictly child-friendly; like actually exploring how Jake feels after this and not immediately let him slip back into his normal self in the next episode.
Also, I know, cartoon logic and stuff but.... Rose could've just said "destruction of all huntsclan except for myself" welp.

Was any wondering this? After the episode where Trixie and Spud found out Jake was a Dragon and Jake's grandfather told him to slip the mind erase potion into the drink but he decided not to....how in the world did his grandfather not yell at Jake in the next episode?

2:26 - This dialogue perfectly shows how much Jake has developed since the events of "The Love Cruise." In that episode, he was only looking for personal gain in getting Rose to love him, but now he sincerely wants her to be happy with her family, even if she disappears from his life

@@thesailormercury2 The later episodes showed a major drop in quality, sadly... and the _actual_ season finale was a disappointment. The Black Dragon simply doesn't work as the big badass villain they tried to make him into.

I love how Jake had his grandpa and Fu tell him not to do it and he just did it anyway, and neither of them even dared to try and chew him out over it.
They realized how bad the situation is and what Jake had to do to save the woman he loves. I am also surprised that neither one of 88 or 89 birthmarks glowed before they quit.

They did have birthmarks cause the next episode they were in the Huntsclan base and the computer recognize them.
What an absolutely insane episode, Rose has been nothing but loyal and selfless even willing to die so Jake won't be in danger like her. But of course, we know by now that Rose means everything to Jake, he can't let her die he loves her too much. Even if it means breaking his heart in the process he'd rather live without Rose knowing she's safe and finally free.
Yeah. It's almost similar to Tom Hilland Peter Parker when he gave up his own name to stop everyone who knows Peter Parker is Spider-Man from coming to his universe.
This show was my childhood, i can't believe it ended :( want it to come back tbh (i'm nearly 20 btw haha) love this kind of anime

You know, after this episode, we never saw Rose's twin sister with her family, which bugged me a lot.
My opinion? When Jake made the wish, he accidentally caused the Huntsclan accidentally kidnapped Rose's sister instead of her.
It would have been an excellent plot for Season 3:
Rose's sister, in the role of the Huntsgirl, leads a group of young survivors of the Huntsclan looking for revenge against the American Dragon and all magical creatures. She would be more vicious and violent than Rose ever was as Huntsgirl. So, Jake and his team would have to find a way to stop her and avoid to seriously hurt her. Surely Jake would feel guilty because his wished caused this.
I actually think if Jake and Rose broke that wish then the other wish might have been broken too. So all the Huntsclan would have eventually return.

You see, Gramps said the Skulls had the power to grant an "irreversible" wish, therefore it's impossible they returned just like that. However, there was a catch here.
Rose wished for the destruction of the whole Huntsclan, including herself. But when Jake wished Rose was never taken by the Huntsclan, then she couldn't be there, as member of the Huntsclan, in order to make the first wish. This paradox seems to be what saved Rose and MIGHT have caused the other "students" of the Huntsclan to survive.
My idea? Somekind of spell could bring the Huntsclan back as something "inhuman", like the Dark Dragon's Shade Demons. They would be like the Shadowkhan from "Jackie Chan's Adventures".
Yeah but 88 and 89 escape destruction by quitting so their birthmarks never glowed so only the apprentices and masters were destroyed.
@@sw8330GKEEPER Keep in mind that Rose's wish involved the destruction of the whole Huntsclan, from the whole world. #88 and #89 were right at the place where the wish was made, and therefore, its power was stronger; so they were sparred because they quit in time.
However, in the short time that passed between Rose's wish and Jake's wish, it's unlikely the wish had time to erase ALL the Huntsclan's members around the planet.
Think about it: The Huntsclan's members who were at the place were the first to be evaporated, but it passed sometime before the Huntsman was evaporated, and before Rose was evaporated too.
The wish wasn't instantaneous with ALL the Huntsclan, so it's very possible there were more survivors.
Besides, keep in mind that, when we saw Rose in her new life, we didn't see her twin sister. Why? Maybe because Jake's wish caused her to be the one abducted by the Huntsclan instead of Rose. There ARE survivors, without a doubt.
If so then the students at academy’s might have survived and are starting to build up the Huntsclan again.

Man, I remember how hype the commercial was for this episode too. I saved a recording of it on dvr and replayed it so many times lmao. Like the commercial had the part where you see the huntman’s helmet fall down the elevator and the part at 3:21 where you only see him walking away. I had no idea what was going to happen, good stuff 👌

Its my headcannon that this would have been either a catalyst or contributing factor to him becoming the dark dragon (it was stated that before the idea was scrapped,the identity of dark dragon was going to actually be a future jake).
i remember watching this show as a kid,
i never really followed on the episodes but whenever it was on, i watch it.
i only remember a few episodes but this is one of them, while i didnt follow throught with the series i understood roses story and when jake meets her after making that wish, i felt sad because shes moving away.

She saved an entire race of magical beings. If the Huntsclan had succeeded they would have thrown the earth’s ecosystem out of order. Not too mention what would happened after.
No one notice in the episode that rose had a twin sister and when jake saw her later, cuz of his wish, she was alone with her parents? That means that it was her sister that was taken by the huntsclan and got destroyed!!!! :O
Then how did she get all the memories with Jake after looking at the photo?
Tbh, Her sister is probably still out there, looking for Rose and maybe the skulls didn't change her memories, just the events leading up the their births. Also, when Haley defended Jake from Gramps and Sun, she said to them that he isn't self serving, as proof of this scene right here.

Kind of, yeah. But it was war, and she was willing to eliminate hundreds, including herself, in order to potentially save millions. Sometimes you gotta make tough choices in battle, but yeah it was a pretty dark subject for a Disney kids show.

She could have just said, the destruction of all huntsclan member aside from herself.
So, Rose just straight up murdered a bunch of people. I get it was her desperation to keep Jake safe, but damn. Too bad Jake couldn't have saves more people. I'm sure there were many members Rose's age who were on the fence or just going with the flow of what was happening to them.
