Good preparation. Everyone just says that they will use a gun when confronted by the bad guy, but real life often does not offer the ideal weapon at the ideal time. Your approach is more realistic.
Martial skills you need a training partner. I sparred with friends but slower and just had fun. Plus survival fighting the best strikes are the eyes, windpipe, nuts and knees. Knife fighting the windpipe, neck and underside of the arms. Sparring using dull replica knives is best. My katas all became freeform. This improves reaction speed.
Good stuff. I practiced martial skills 30 plus years. I have a few videos on here before I got too crippled. I got too be adept at sword fighting and knife fighting. I always sparred people. I refined my martial skills too striking very little and did a lot more manipulation. The overhand no spin knife throwing is where it's at. Your good at spinning one. But it takes certain distances. I've seen little Korean woman throw screwdrivers too knives long distance with no spin. It's a very fast overhand baseball pitch throw. Plus because of this particular throw it makes the knife spin on its axis making it straighter. When I first started throwing sharp objects I did it spinning them. Then found out the baseball pitch was a lot better.
I'm 22 years old, most people around my age at least where i live go to night clubs, smoke or study for something they are not passionate about, simply because the jobs they will take with that degree will pay more. Meanwhile i'm sitting in a village, trowing knifes and axes, working and shooting with air rifles, leaving healthy lifestyle and asking myself i'm i stupid for not doing what most people my age are doing or i'm i smarter then them.
I'm curious... have you ever thrown those heavy (ish) "torpedo" spikes like those by Cold Steel (12" long at about 1 pound with points at both ends)? Also, I try to imagine a "tactical" or self-defense situation where I would employ any throwing weapon and I want to believe that I would be in a huge rush to make the most powerful and accurate throw as possible. In this scenario in my mind, I imagine having one of those torpedo spikes and I'm throwing as fast and hard as I possibly can at my target. What are your thoughts on making those extremely fast and hard throws with any type of throwing weapon?
@411Outdoors no I'm refering to the danger to YOU. Not your knife. I've seen kukri come flying back at the thrower when over rotated. But. You know what your doing.
Great little short video that's not only fun to watch, but also reminds everyone of the importance of constant training! Thanks!
