With those, you get to see multiple points in the game as it’s being messed up by “manual blasting” and “blast modding”, rather than one scene being corrupted multiple times. Kudos to those who put in the time and effort to make these series of corruptions!
The speedrunning communities for LttP and Super Metroid shared a lot of members in 2018 and probably still does, and one of them or another jokingly said it'd be great to speedrun both at once, so Thomas Backmark / "Total" went ahead and made that mashup. It turns out that the two games do not share a single piece of the SNES's memory bank. Nintendo could have, if they so decided, released a single cartridge that had both Super Metroid and LttP on it with little to no problems. In the same way, Total was able to basically glue the ROMs together without that much work. However, that did not mean they were able to jump in and out of each other without losing progress. I don't know the technical aspects of how that part works.
Honestly there's always been a lot of overlap between Zelda and Metroid fandom in general, even though Zelda is a lot bigger - nearly every Metroid fan also likes Zelda a lot, in my experience, myself included. There's something similar about how both series blend exploration and puzzles and combat, even if they do it in different ways. Plus Zelda is a fantasy full of sci-fi influence, while Metroid is a fantasy-flavored sci fi, and Link and Samus have a lot in common as protagonists
I mean, the cartridge may be able to hold both games at once (have you ever seen those cartridges with 40+ games?) But the console probably can't keep up with both and i doubt an emulator would solve it since they usually use the same timing as the console

As for the Sega sound corruption, it's doable and I've done it, but you have to target one of a few specific areas in memory, or get super lucky with a random corruption. (I was doing this with the OG corruptor edit: and referencing memory maps of roms/ram and stuff on sites like sonicretro)
