Cosplay is so good it even comes with as many hardships as guts faced
The first PROPER Guts' sword. In the manga no one was meant to wield that thing, which makes this even more faithful to the source material
Yeah, its literally impossible
Finally someone has the balls to do it properly.
🤣exactly... others forge a paper-thin sword and call it dragon slayer 😅
Can't wait for the water slice, gonna be clean as fuck xD
@@Ruiso7 nope of someone tried to slice a water bottle the whole table gone
the balls.. and the forklift certification
But I'm pretty sure no one has the balls to lift it 😅
This makes me realize that Guts in reality would sink into the ground, break wooden steps and planks, crush small rocks under his feet, absolutely wreck every pair of boots, and generally destroy things around him just by existing while carrying that thing, even before swinging it.
Just think about the poor horse that he rides
@@PrettyHateMachining the original scene where he runs to fight to the fish General in the band of the hawk days where he had sword full extended out right degrees while charging on a horse always suprised me to think about and that wasn't even the dragon slayer but still a huge ass sword yoy deserve a reward in the history records for this project
@@bonetrader5940 its crazy that his prosthetic hand can also wield it one handed. Which also turns into a cannon.
@KracknCorn I'm pretty sure the black Smith (forgot his name) said that his prosthetic hand has magnets in it to help him. Still though, if the hand was even carrying half the weight of the dragonslayer that's still like 150 pounds lol, it would've been too fucked up
@@funnelingspace9268 it's established in Berserk that guts manipulates his surroundings, and his sword, with sheer will power due to the fact that hes living in the interstice. otherwise he wouldn't be able to lift that thing.
"It was too big to be called a sword. Massive, thick, heavy, and far too rough. Indeed, it was a heap of raw iron."
This comment had to be somewhere
yeah its a quote from the manga
lots of people decide to comment it
Well, it’s the only well-known quote, and it does describe this sword.
Just like Donovan (☞ ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)☞
Honestly super excited to see someone making the Dragonslayer in its full glory. I will say Mike Cthulhus Dragonslayer is pretty epic.
I do enjoy your Jin-Roh pfp
Honey....
It's not that I want to spend all this money & buy all these machines.
I have to
The amount of time and effort to make this would make any normal man go BERSERK....
I'll see myself out.
Huehuehuehue
32:30 ""Looking from up here, it's as if each chip were a small dream, for each person. They're like a bonfire of dreams."
I have some machining experience and this series so far has been incredibly fascinating to me. The vast majority of dragonslayer recreations are heavily thinned down because of the sheer weight or just aren't that geometrically accurate to the source material. I always thought to myself how cool it'd be if the comparatively tiny Bridgeport mills at my work could make something like this and actually seeing it happen and the amount of painstaking effort that went into it is nothing short of mind-blowing to me. Truly amazing work and I can't wait to see more!
Thank you! My poor bridgeport would probably topple over if I put the blade on the table, so I knew I had to step up my game for this sword :)
As a person who works in a machine shop these videos fell so strange because I do a part that is like a foot and I feel like it is massive, and then this guy is doing a sword that is the height of a person, admittedly his tolerances are alot larger than mine, but hey still impressive as all hell
so do i and this comment actually helped put the size of the sword into a better perspective.... thing is massive.
Tolerances become more of a pain the smaller they get, and the more spread out they are, plus or minus 5 thou is alot easier over half an inch then it is over 2 inches, and I imagine plus or minus 30 is insane over the feet that the blade spans
@@garvat2246 Thank you! I'm sure I could have made it to tighter tolerances, but I figured roughly .030" was decent enough for what is essentially a sculpture.
This is something I’ve been dreaming about for years. In fact in Highschool I remember specifically being kinda sad that basically everyone who attempted to create the Dragonslayer kept making it thin and weildable, which I mean I LOVE MichaelCthulhu but man, the WHOLE POINT is that nobody but GUTS could wield it properly. It’s The Dragonslayer because it slays a creature that couldn’t exist, and the man who could kill one equally shouldn’t exist… so man this is literally my dream being created and I thank you so much.
Perfect way to respect Miura in my opinion, and I can’t wait to follow this journey. :)
(Edit: MICHAELCTHULHU IS THERE?!? Ahhhh I’ll die happy now. I love humanity)
The fact Godot made this thing during the middle ages alone, with traditional blacksmithing tools and straight out of Iron is frankly so insane that it borders on the magical.
Godo was dedicated. He is to blacksmithing what Guts is to fighting. The best.
He must've required an enormous furnace
Indeed...it's also a manga
You know its fiction, right?
@@hastur_ Yes? I was merely admiring just how crazy Godot was in earlier years.
MY FIRST COMMENT WASN'T A CRITICISM OF BERSERK GUYS I WAS JUST POINTING OUT SOMETHING.
As someone who has no idea who this MichaelCthulu is, I can say that a mysterious and heavily bearded man sitting silently in shot is still just as funny. Now Ive got two new people to watch! What a fantastic project, Ill have to go back and watch part 1. Cant wait for part 3!
Put your grasses on folks, we're getting ready for round 2!
The cameos from Micheal Cthulhu had me cracking up.
Craftsmanship: I’m carrying this project.
Luck: What are you even talking about?
Ingenuity: Hold my beer 🍺
That's cool how the shading of the center & the sharpened edges naturally match the manga sword. Epic work
FINALLY. the amount of times ive searched over and over for someone to make a real dragon slayer over the years has been insane. i cant imagine how dope it will be to have made and own that iconic large hunk of iron thats too big to be called a sword
What this guys doing is incredible, but this also proves just how talented and legendary Godot was for being able to make the Dragonslayer with no modern tech. Just spite
I cannot believe you didn't give up after all those problems kept coming. INSANE perseverance. Props to you man.
youtube recommended part 1 of this to me the other day and i really enjoy your content, went back and watched the golden age sword build and i was so excited for this one to continue. i really like how laid back your content is for how insane the amount of work youre clearly doing, keep it up man.
Thank you!
Jesus my guy, when you need a forklift to move the unfinished product you know you're in for a treat. Great work.
I’m no machinist , but it’s intriguing to see metal being machined and cut or lathed , can’t wait to see the finished sword
"It was too big to be called a sword. Massive, thick, heavy, and far too rough. Indeed, it was a heap of raw iron."
Godot would be proud.
Your drive to finish the project is so admirable dude. Miura would be proud!
You should get Eddi Hall to try and weild it!
Someone send him my email address
@@PrettyHateMachining that would be an awesome collab lol
Nah haftor has more of a gutsish physique
Tom stoltman is the current strongest!
it's too top heavy to wield you need at least a 5 ton deadlift to be able to wield it
The Dragonslayer can kill anything, be it man, demon, or god. Your milling machine stood no chance.
That new machine had better watch it's back, as well. The Dragonslayer never loses it's hunger for killing.
I was almost in tears when I saw that behemoth of a sword get it's edges
This a great example of how precision machining is as much of an art as a science. Keep up the good work man!
It's crazy how much material the machine can take off at once!
gotta say, even attempting this project took a lotta guts! I get nervous just watching every time the blade had to be moved, couldn't imagine having to actually do it! (doubly so in part 1 O_O)
needless to say I'm glad you were able to avoid injuries! it's been quite the journey, and I'm looking forward to seeing part 3!
This guy seems just as crazy as Godo... I couldn't help but laugh at the lever fix.
Thank you sir, clearly this is a taxing project but it has made for some excellent videos.
Okay how has no one commented on Michael Cthulhu just chilling in the video yet? It was perfect.
I was looking for anyone else who also noticed the man's very iconic Irish goofiness.
Props to you for having the balls to make it this accurate, also appreciate the explanations these are beautiful videos
love to see someone bring what was fundamentally a meme weapon into its full glory here in the real world! i cant imagine getting all that iron from your steel bollocks was too pleasant
It was a slow, but pleasurable process
This is so fucking cool, thanks to Michaelcthulhu foor the shotout!
I've just become an apprentice toolmaker, been learning lathes, mills, etc. Berserk is my favorite manga, and sword making looks fun! Great work!
PHM: Witness me!
Everyone in comment section: Witnessed!!
Seeing you struggle to move this thing around really illustrates how absurdly strong Guts would have to be to swing it.
I NEED TO SEE THIS NOW PLEASE
Now I know why Godot didn't want Guts to find out about this thing. Crazy crazy work man
that new super heavy duty milling machine is one sexy beast!
this man is gonna do it properly. mad respect to him. cause of how massive and heavy the sword is a lot pf problems can happen but there are always solutions to the problems can't wait for it to be finished
This is so freaking awesome! Godot would be proud! My man is gonna be ripped by the end of this just moving this hunk of steel around.
Just came across this channel, and I just wanted to say that the amount of skill and understanding you have in your craft is actually inspirational. Makes me want to start being good at stuff lol
its better to be lucky than good
Sir yoy have my respect I have waited to see this done proper for 10+ years I have loved berserk since I was a boy this is truly amazing very good work sir
All we need is a giant to look awesome with it! (it's me, I'm the giant)
Nah not you,your too weak
@@JRV4606 😭😭😭😭
I think anyone who tries to take on creating the Dragon Slayer deserves massive props, but this is the first one where it seems like it will turn out how the Dragon Slayer really looks. The amount of work to create it looks insane, but im glad to see someone doing it.
Thanks!
I was not expecting Mike sitting on the machine...
He wanders in and out of the shop sometimes. I managed to catch him in a good mood that day
So there's a 7 months difference between the start and end of the video? Amazing!
man you don’t know how much I have been waiting for this to happen finally a realistic dragon slayer thank you man 🙏🏽 keep up the good work 😤
Man this sword is looking absolutely beautiful, going to be breathtaking when it's finally done!
I like how you literally [as in by description] have godot here to help make the blade.
I love berserk and I love this series can’t wait to see how it comes out
Looking forward to it!
Amazing work, just amazing, maybe words do not have the same power right now but you really are extraordinary for going through with this sword, after so many months and so many problems, and spending money in these times of ours, I appreciate your work and I will gladly watch these clips through and through!
Thank you so much!
I only work with the softer stuff, but seeing all these giant milling machines has been fascinating. Appreciate all the explanations man🤘
Cant wait to see how a handle is attached. I would assume it would have to be carved out of the same piece to hold its weight.
This is the most *metal* video I've seen recently. Literally.
~23:00 holy crap i never thought to make the teeth asymetrical. that offsets the pattern of the cut so it isnt "1000 soldiers on a bridge in sync" but possibly the anti-wave every other tooth. idk how much it would practically reduce the vibrations but theoretically at least 50% because you have canceling wavelengths. and im not accounting for patents that have already been discovered which are probably more efficient.
the best analogy my brain can think of is how noise canceling headphones work, they receive noise and emit the anti-wave to reduce the noise coming into the headphones thus creating "noise canceling" headphones. GE (General Electronics) made a great example video of this where they have a bunch of speakers surrounding a baby and they ring a gong outside of the speakers, and the baby stays asleep. you can look up the GE youtube channel for the video.
love this series!
God Bless for making the only REAL Dragon-Slayer Great-Sword
Literally found this channel today after deciding to randomly listen to Susumu Hirasawa "Forces" on loop.
Great work btw!
adjusting the clutch lever wasn't a mission accomplished, it was a mission failed successfully!
the mike C doll is AMAZING! 8:36
i know he was just there, you guys have worked well together. lol
This guy is a lunatic, its amazing
Jesus the work put into this thing.
Miura would be proud.
I think it would be hilarious to just place this on his grave, like it's a bouquet of flowers. Because, firstly, he deserves it. A literal monument to his crowning work. But, secondly, I'd like to see them TRY and remove it. This thing weighs like 6 whole Japanese men.
8:36 hey you even got your own Godo for authenticity
can confirm that i am one of those three machinist watching this. this is awesome
Good to meet you and thanks!
I watched the first part an was blown awzy by how awsome it was but i fucking hate these stupid clockbait countdowns 😭 i always click them excited then get triggered when it ses 20min wait 😭 its proberly youtubes worse feature, rip guse maybe ill find this video again in afew mouths when its acturaly watchable 🤣🤣
it's watchable now
godo must've gone through a number of hammers
This is sick! I was sad when I realized the video ended. The wait will be long for Part 3!
You could practically just set this on some cut tree stumps and use it as a coffee table. Be an interesting way to display it.
Person makes a sword
“So this gantry crane is how I will safely put it on the table”
This is the engineering mankind waited thousands of years for
A shame Berserk’s creator will never get to see this. Probably the only time the Dragon Slayer will be 100% replicated in real life.
Watched the first one a few days ago and when I saw how recent it was I almost died, but luckily you posted again😊
"That thing was too big to be called a sword. Too big, too thick, too heavy, and too rough, it was more like a large hunk of iron."
God that bevel is amazing.
I’d be curious whether having a “real” bevel like that improved edge alignment or performance compared to the common half-asses bevel with giant sword projects, but as heavy as this isn’t is I don’t think anyone could test it! 😂
Probably someone like chris bumstead can wield that sword or other high level bodybuilders
Believe it or not, bodybuilders are typically relatively weak. Cbum wouldn't even be close, not even someone like Ronnie in their prime could have touched it
@@PrettyHateMachining ok so you are saying that maybe Ronnie coleman in his best days it could wield a freakin dragonslayer? that sounds so epic omg, mmm well or maybe just someone enough amazing and fantástic like guts, someone with his height for example, 2 meters and five cm
@@felipehernandez9664 Think more strongman than body builder. PHM is right, they look stronger than they are (they are certainly WAY above average don't get me wrong!) but strongman is where it is at. Eddy Hall or Hafþór in their primes perhaps (they are not currently)... And even then I doubt it a lot... but it would be cool.
It would be impossible for a human to use such a heavy sword because, according to physics, the mass of the sword is too much greater than the user. A human would just fall into the sword, not swing it. And swing up the sword caused by the huge centrifugal force will make people can not stand, as well as the human flesh can not provide such a large force to swing the sword. Maybe elephants and dinosaurs can try.
@@The_Wookiee we need like hafthor bjornsson
People from the future: what kind of person was strong enough to wield this?
My brother you are really making a real fucking dragon slayer 👏 you deserve a noble prize
You are hereby dubbed "Geddo". Now mesmerize me with the sparks of your work.
You're making an affront to god. Good work!
Thank you!
Man, what a pain in the ass. No wonder nobody has done this before.
That second shirt is my favorite!
It's not even finished, yet it already looks terrifying
That second machine was so big that I thought the guy on top was a highly realistic doll until he blinked.
I've wanted to see someone do this for several years. I saw the other Guts sword a while back and couldn't believe you were actually able to wield it. I doubt there is a man alive that will be able to wield this behemoth blade once it's done but I'd like to se someone try. Maybe get together with the "hacksmiths" and their life size functioning mech power loader from the movie Aliens
This is fucking amazing. I'm watching every minute of this process and the logistics and creation are incredibly daunting. Good on ya for powering through and troubleshooting your way to victory. I hope the blade comes out amazing, but even the process is already jaw-dropping.
MASSIVE RESPECT TO YOU DUDE! Awesome project!
Yes, this is well and good, but build a massive trebuchet counterweight to swing this down through a flaming playhouse. Think of the childlike glee it would bring to Michaelcthulhu and us all.
I'm on it.
You should try tieing a plumb bob on a string and hook it up with a compass. Let gravity set your angle
archaeologists 1000 years later gonna be stumped
Love the life-size MichaealCthulu doll you got in the shop
love the content man the berserk community loves you bro
thanks, struggler
Video takes month but uploads are consecutive, my luck.
When I saw six days ago I prepared myself to check back in a year for part three 😄 but worth a small wait
Love seeing actual processes with the small hot fixes and ingenuity on the way
Thank you! I've got everything done, I should be releasing a part every other week until it's over
@@PrettyHateMachining alright, nice! looking forward to that :)
the one and only dragon slayer 😳
Jeez, I'm loosing patience with this sword just watching the video. You are a god sir
Thank you for the Timelapses!
Mail all those chips to Peter Brown so he can make a bowl out of Guts sword chips
