Well done embracing the Cab. Swallow the ego that you are going to be a track day hero (how many track days do you actually do a year?). - hours spent with the roof down enjoying the environment and noise of the engine will be more accessible and rewarding- you can still take it to the track if you must.

I own both the coupe and the cab 993, I have to say the cab is my favourite by far, dynamically not that far off from the coupe ( with my driving style anyway ) but with the sound and smells that come with the convertible experience so I totally get your infatuation with the classic cab, enjoy it while the weather is nice!

Granted, on a daily basis, the coupe is more practical and has better lines. However, on those days when you want to enjoy the fresh air and hear your engine purr there is nothing better than driving top down in your cabriolet! It’s the pure sports car. Thanks Lee

I beg the difference on the lines. I totally agree with its designer Tony Hatton that the Cabriolet has better lines.

You will LOVE the 964 Cab :-) most of my friends that borrow my 1991 Cab are amazed how nice it is to drive with no roof on. If you driving in the Alps you will experience a much better feeling contra doing it in a Coupe. I bought mine just to convert it to a Speedster but I have changed my mind now and it will remain a Cab. You also have the OEM hardtop or aftermarket tops that you can buy to sometimes have a “fake” coupe ;-) Njoy

I’ve owned a 993 Cab for about 18 months now and I can honestly say it’s the most enjoyable motor I’ve owned. My wife and I have an absolute blast driving this car on the weekends. Having had the luxury of driving very interesting cars for over 40 years I was not expecting to like this car as much as I do.
Looking forward to hearing what you think over time.

Slate grey cabriolet - very cool! I like my slate grey coupe, but had a 993 cabriolet and they are a great drive. I’m fascinated that Preuninger and Hatter drive cabriolets. They could likely drive any 911, but air-cooled and open… who would have guessed?

Currently on a road trip in my 993 from uk to France at the moment. Country side driving heading to Cannes, I am certain it’s the car I’d always use on a journey like this🙏🏿

owning a 964 convertible myself it would be really nice to hear what the best upgrades ( if there are any differences to coupes) would be...

If the question is simply "cabriolet?".... then the answer is simply the thousands and thousands of boxster owners from the OG 986.1 and all the editions that have followed.
    Q: Cabriolet?
    A: Yes.

  • @kriskalpa

I find it odd that in period reviews, the 986 Boxster was preferred over the then current 993 911, but now the price difference is so stark. The Boxster is a true bargain.

Hi mate, looking forward to seeing and hearing more 964 in any form! 👌Has there been any follow up vid to the Cab yet or is there one on the way?

Really love your videos but I have to say my experience of the 992 C2S cab can was an utter disaster. It rattled like a tin of bolts. The build quality was so poor that I couldn’t wait to get rid of it. The engineering was fabulous of course as was the perceived quality. The reality was sadly very, very different. I would gladly pay more to have such a wonderful car built properly if only someone would tell the bean-counters.

I'm with you, my uncles MGA "inprinted" me before I was old enough to drive with the elements of what a sports car was all about and I've aways considered an open top essential to the experience. After a Datsun 2000 and a couple of Alfa spiders an '87 Targa and a B981 GTS define it for me now. Anyone with healthy rotator-cuffs shouldn't be discouarged from a Targa as I'd find it faster and less cumbersom than a Boxter Spyder top and it will fit in the frunk without folding.

Cabs are the best. I have a hard top for my 996.2 cab so in the winter months, I get a (sorta) coupe experience. Yeah sure, the coupes look a little better... but MAN... when the weather is perfect, I will take a cab EVERY DAY.

Lee - as you know my 2001 996 is a cabriolet and I love it! She's in the driveway right now for the drive to work tomorrow and then a bit of a top down stroll about before heading home. I am fortunate to have the removable hardtop as well so mine gets driven through the winter months as well and does very well in the snow! Proper care and maintenance of the cloth top is essential but well worth the effort and the bit of expenditure. My money is on you owning this car one day in the future mate!

Hi there. Great vid. I see you were cruising around the Poole Area! If you are local and want to kick the tyres of my 996 C4S then you very welcome. Has a few mods not for the purists so might be interesting for your channel. All the best.
