I had to say goodbye to my old dog just a few weeks ago, poor fella took a bad turn & I miss him so much but he was such kindhearted soul & hopefully we'll meet again someday 🥲🙏 really enjoyed the video!
Great video. I like my cats. I always find it rather fascinating how their way of playing is basically hunting practice. The way they ambush and pounce on strings and whatnot is interesting. Almost akin to little tigers or lions.
Really interesting - thank you. Although Gaelic is a q-Celtic language the Picts of northern Scotland spoke a p-Celtic language and Welsh is also p-Celtic.
Storks have been absent from the British Isles for some time. Fittingly a group call Celtic Rewilding, is working on a effort to return them through a captive breeding program. Great video. 😎
15:57 "there was no strong distinction made in our medieval sources between a raven and a crow." well, it tuns out there is no strong biological distinction between a raven and a crow either. a corvid of a certain size is considered a raven, if it is small, it's called a crow. uless it's too small to be a crow, then it's a magpie or a jackdaw or something.
Woden, an English god, among surviving archeology, has nearly always been depicted with two corvids (identified through their morphology) atop/wrapped around his head like a headress/helmet -- almost certainly his ravens identified through other Germanic mythology. These are called WAINES in English archeology (Woden avatars in numerous environments). The Anglo Saxons, as well as the Celtic Britons, had significant reverence for corvids but in particular the raven. Corvids are popular in Anglo Saxon jewellery and art too.
I think I witnessed some sort of crow ritual one day back in 2007, maybe 08, it was after a double shift, about 20hrs, got home couple of hours before sunrise, I worked around loud noises, when you get home where its quite, you feel like you're buzzing from all the noise, I knew I couldn't sleep, so I brewed a pot of coffee, grabbed my pipe, figured I would go outside and watch the sunrise. I lived on what used to be a big sand dune, before all the homes were put in, across the street was a convenance store, on a corner lot, next to an empty lot with a few trees. At the entrance of the parking lot was two big recycling bins, to set the picture to what's to come. I can watch the sunrise from just outside my front door, while sitting there watching the sun, I noticed a few groups of crows flying my direction, a few were already in the trees across the street, must of been more than 10 large groups land in the trees, way more than normal, after about 3 bowls, I was ready to go inside and get some sleep, it didn't last long, about 3-4 hours later, all the noise they were making woke me up. I had a dry throat, from all the happy smoke, figured I would go across the street get me something to drink, at the same time scare some crows off. I got outside, I had second thoughts, if you've ever seen that movie "The Birds", that's what I was looking at, a few was on my side, most were over there on everything, for a second there I was wonder if I really needed a drink that bad, what the hell they are only crows, and that was a movie, so i wander across the street, where I cross, is next to those recycling bins, as I'm crossing the street, I see a big circle on the other side of the recycling bins, with only two crows in the center, now I couldn't tell is they were fighting or having sex, but whatever they were doing, all the crows were cheering them on, the scary thing is what happen when I got on the other side of those recycling bins, they all stopped what they were doing and turned and looked at me, most of them weren't making a sound, I said the hell with this, that movie might be real, moved as quick as I could without run, the guy in the store saw it all happen, he asked what I did to those crows, I told him I didn't know what I did, maybe interrupted them. We watched for a little while until the two in the center left, I guess that was the end of it, the next day they were all gone. A few years later I watched the doc "A Murder of Crow", they said that the crow can remember your face for many years, I'm wondering, how many crows know my face, I don't know how many that day were there, the guy in the store said that they had been showing up all morning long, that's a lot of crows, I hope they're not still mad at me.
Couldnt get through this, turned it off after the 9th commercial interruption Absolutely painful to try and watch this without some merchant yelling in my ear
There are three commercial placements in the whole thing. It's commercials, or it is no content. You think everything comes to you for free? Do you have any idea how many hours I work on this stuff?
Beware the moors at night I once heard some folks chatting about while throwing darts during a trip to the British Isles, next thing you know a couple of unacquainted Americans were eaten by dogs that night when they drifted from the path. Huh, peculiar world it is
I was born a wolf, but my mother turned me into a lion, my father the boar knew not what she had done, she took out the pure my father gave me, from her cupla, she created the spear, to be held in the hand of her urgula, meaning both Lion and Great Dog, the Ur-sag, Wolf head warrior. Can you guess my name?
Weylyn means 'Son of the Wolf' Wyn means 'Pure, Blessed' Lewallyn means 'Like a Lion/Ruling' Roger means 'Famous Spear' Cupps-McCullough am I 'Son of the Hound of Ulster', is anglicized as 'McCullough'. In Scots Gaelic it is often rendered 'McCulloch' and translated as 'son of the boar'. The commonly accepted origin for the Scottish name McCulloch is mac Culloch, or “son of the boar.” According to the “Gaelic Names of Beasts” by Alexander Robert Forbes (1905), the Gaelic words “culloch” and “cullach” may mean a fat heifer, a boar, yearling calf, bat, a male cat, male crab, or a stallion), the word Culo means Ass, not a horse, or the Donkey. Cupla means Twin, my animal side, hahaha.
Actually crows remember when you show kindness to them

Nice to know the different dog breeds among the ancient British. ^_^
Very informative. Thanks
My man, your videos bring me so much peace, and I feel really immersed on your stories, thanks for another gem of a video.

When we were in Ireland we noticed that there was an absence of a lot of birds and we realized that during the famine, they had all been eaten.
That was 150 years ago lol. Birds breed and migrate. Bizarre theory
Superb

The snake is defenseless against the cat, it's unable to strike the cat, because the cat's response time is faster that the snake.

3 ads in 28 mins is good going for RUclips...the video was well worth it, I'd like to be able to support the guy more, I plan to after Christmas.

""He summons storm winds with the lifting of his tail."
Are we sure these dogs weren't just really gassy?
I had heard of the horse marriage ritual before and was really curious, turns out it gets even worse from what i heard 😂
Yes, it is a really archaic Indo-European tradition. Something similar was preserved in Vedic traditions as well.
The role of cranes as pets is surprising.
How about foxes?
Thank you for the interesting video I think ever since cultures started domesticating wolves they became man's best friend 🐺
