Crochet Ruffle Shell Hair Scrunchies for Beginners

- Crochet hair scrunchies very easy for beginners. Great for scrap yarns and quick projects. This is less than 45 minutes to make, 34:19 minutes to be exact. I was just curious how long it takes so I used my phone stopwatch.
If the video is too fast or slow: click the video settings or the 3 dots & set to your desired playback speed.
Yarn used: Light weight yarn 100% cotton (yarn bee sugarwheel cotton).
I also used a sport weight yarn mercerized cotton(the yellow and purple scrunchie on video).
Crochet hook: 3.5mm
Tip: For best results, stretch those stitches out. Shows at 12:04 in the video.

Would acrylic be ok to use?
Yes, I made one with acrylic, light weight also. It came out nicely. I haven't try it yet with medium 4 weight.

How long does it usually take to finish 1 scrunchie like this? I made mine for 1 hour... am I too slow? I just learned how to crochet last month 😅
How would I make this for a 3 or 4-year-old with much less hair? One uses hair elastics of 7/8" and the other uses hair elastics of only 1/2". They LOVE the picture of these on a bun! Thank you!!!
