So you mean the generator speed up and slowed down by AVR? That what I am looking for what control the motor to speed up and slow down for the use of electric from generator. It all keep pointing to AVR but I don't see how it control the engine. And another question is how can one be generator and motor same time? For example the city bus around the world use this system to drive the bus and when it need to be slowed down and the motor become the generator to refeed the battery (little bit but helps) can you explain this and show how this possible? I have an older two output wire Lima 7.5kw generator that was accidentally back-fed, and blew the breaker instantly. It was not running at the time, but connected to the power buss. I have tried using a corded drill, powered by a cordless drill to re-energise the exciter field, but it did not work. I'm thinking something is blown/burnt elsewhere, or, maybe I wasn't doing something else right. I did register 17 volts while trying to re-excite the field. Any ideas?

Iam facing problem on 1852 KVA Leroy Somer Model 51.2M60 AREP excitation System. when its running in idle on load it has no issues ,but when in pararel with the network it starts fluctuating the voltage and vibrating ,making noise. What maybe the cause ? (the avr is the same model as seflt excited Generator?). I would like to thank you in advance. Regards
If u using AVR same as self excited generator so its mean ur disconnected the AREP and ur alternator is working as self excited there is many reason of voltage fluctuation u have to follow all steps one bye one

As we know the fuction AVR if 4 pin terminals on AVR for External winding or PMG, but the alternator brand no aux winding even PMG then on application we ignore those pin, that mean use self exitation system, so can AVR still works properly?( example as LS 438 or LS 448 ox MX321 AVR)
Thank you my question is about sensing voltage ,before DC is supplied to the rotor there is no excitation and therefore the generator cannot produce AC now where does the sensing voltage originate to AVR when you start the generator in short explain how sencising volatage is created when there is no DC to the rotor

Use 12 volt battery to re-excite
Is avr controlling voltage or current in excitation circuit?
Voltage, in AVR mode, currnet in FCR mode (manual mode) only of test and commissioning or during starting phase with a starter SFC, LCI.

my exciter field winding has no resistance, does it mean the exciter need rewinding?
U check with megger or with simple multimeter try to do sperate seperate closed circuit and insulation resistance check for more confirmation
