@@DadsGarageDiagnosticSpecialistcan cam bearing cause a P0014 code as well?

    • @DadsGarageDiagnosticSpecialist
      @DadsGarageDiagnosticSpecialist 9 месяцев назад

@@HandMadeWrath I suppose a damaged cam bearing could cause P0014 if the oil passages were getting blocked off with metal or something. At that point you have worse problems to worry about.
      Thanks.

I’m getting p0014 in my q50 3.0t and as a starter I replaced my oil and nothing changed so I was going to try and clean my VVT or replace them. My engine is knocking and 2 mechanics told me I’m better off just replacing the whole engine

Also can engine sludge remover help clear out anything that’s stopping it from working properly

Well, if it is knocking, it is a good idea to find out why it is knocking before you drop money on it. Maybe the timing chain is loose and slapping around because of low oil pressure and it does actually need an engine.
Or maybe it has a broken locking pan on one of the cam actuators and it is slapping back-and-forth… A simple repair and you are back on the road.
Remove the valve covers to inspect… if the timing chain is still tight check that the camshaft is not loose when twisting it back and forth… it should give a lot of resistance and lock in the home position.
      Thanks.

@@DadsGarageDiagnosticSpecialist well I noticed the weak acceleration and took it to get an oil change and was told one of my oil pan bolt were warped. could that be the reason and caused an oil leak or even contaminated oil? I ended up changing my oil through the engine so I didn’t touch my oil pan if that makes sense. Sorry for the poor explanation

What the are you referring to replacing? This video is very vague. Do you have more information? Part number?

The Teflon seals on the camshafts can leak oil pressure and cause repeat codes, etc.
Not all engines will have these and I couldn’t possibly provide a part number for every engine.

      Thanks for commenting Mark.
No you want to replace the sealing rings under the cap.
Most times there is no repair procedure, pictures, or anything else to even tell you these seals exist other than the parts exploded view when you go to the parts dept to order parts.
I have fixed many by replacing these seals after others have given up.

The parts catalog for General Motors just says “ring”
It’s a scarf cut Teflon sealing ring.
      Thanks.
