I look at an old-school dancer like Mr. wiggles from the electric Boogaloo‘s who used to do TUTTING. His performance as always, with smooth precise and electrifying yet his TUTS upon closer examination, weren’t always as precise and clean as you might’ve thought. I recall numerous times where he didn’t hold the secret 90° angle and “correctly“ sometimes his alignment would be a little off and asymmetrical while doing doubleTUTTING movements, and he even once in a while had his hands in the” un holy““Duck TUT“ position. He’s on record admitting all of this but he’s so into his freestyle that he just keeps going and everything looks correctAnd Clear because of his intention not because he was married to some unbreakable rule.

Holding on and marrying yourself to principles of how things should and or to be can handcuff you as a dancer. I know. I always four years admired people who were able to get that perfect hand and wrist position doing TUTS. I could never get itNo matter how much I tried to stretch my wrists and fingers and even ended up damaging the tendons in my wrist for a short time trying to force myself into the” correct position” I was angry at embarrassed by my” duck tuts“ But I had to push past that forget about the right way and do it was comfortable from my body my level of flexibility and my physique. I’m happy to say that I’m quite satisfied with the way I’m able to do this dance now and it’s only because I gave up the notion of trying to do it right technically but worked on my intention instead
