I wanted to ask that if I am comfortable with a lower octave even though I can sing in higher octaves but it does feel like my throat has a hard time after singing, so should I simply be using that or try a higher octave?

No you shouldn’t.. you should never push yourself too hard you might brake or damage your vocal chord by doing so
